  1. I get touchy if people at a gathering expect me to wear a name badge, sigh. SHBKF

  2. First flight with a new QPro in a steady 6mph wind went bad. Made a few squares then a few half axles, axles then took it up put it on its back and did a lazy Susan. On the way down went to flare the kite and snap the lower spreader broke and put a hole in the sail. No big deal I got spare pt5’s at home. Got out another new kite, Into The Wind Hydra. Flew it for over an hour beating the snot out of it without issue. What a fun kite to fly and for 112.50 how do you beat it? Ok well maybe a Kymera for the same price. Got home let the kites dry off from a little rain on the beach today and noticed a small hole on the QPro [emoji47]. Fixed it by putting white tape on both sides and wondering how often this will happen with this kite? I’ve only done this to one other kite, the Widow NG. But that happened in 15 plus wind. Spare parts and spare kites keep us flying.

  3. That is a fact, however it’s also possible to force select companies to a new standard, and to raise pilots to a standard where they are using their equipment more thoroughly and aggressively, thereby balancing out somewhat... I know, I know, but I only work forward, not backward. 🤘

  4. Someone asked for this information, reposting for all you DIY folks who may want to do aftermarket mods to your kites that did not already include wear (stretch) strips and LE tabs. Honestly, every quad brand should include some version of these solutions right from the factory and I expect we’ll see more and more of it - they do significantly extend the life and performance of the kites, which is why they’re stock features on the Djinn.

  5. Probably a dumb question and its probably been asked a billion times but here we go When your flying a 2 or 4 string kite (i'm flying 2 strings) and the kite does a full circle in the air to the right .... lets say it does four full circles in the air to the right - this would mean the strings are wound four times in that direction and the way to proceed without causing a huge mess with the strings would be to immediately do four circles in the opposite direction (the left) .. Is my thinking right here?

  6. OK I took the plunge.. I tried Facebook. Purposefully, not many people know my real name. As prolific as I am here on Kitelife, I'm still a very private person outside of kites. Those that know me well can back me up on that front. I used Riffclown Riffclown. This is the name most of the individuals (including most of you) know me by.. I've gone through intense Facebook Scrutiny since that point less than 10 hours ago. "You HAVE to give us your Cell number." I guess the email I have on riffclown.com just isn't enough. "You have to send us a picture to use for facial recognition and you account is locked until we verify you." That being said, my personal foray into that social network is going to be very short-lived. I will be deleting my account if I ever get access to it again. To All, Please disregard any requests you receive from Riffclown Riffclown on Facebook.. in a few hours that will no longer be me. This was about kites and nothing else. Folks were asking about riffclown kites in certain circles and I wanted to respond.. Sorry, Facebook just isn't for me and at this point, I don't think it ever will be. I want to get the small amount of personal information I did submit off of it. Kitelife is MUCH friendlier.

  7. I've been using Youtube but the Music Rights over the past few years are crazy.. A song playing in the background can get your video flagged so I just mute my video... I've been on youtube for a very long time but I can use pretty much what I want as a username there.

  8. Having had it done to three kites I highly suggest it - to renew an older sail and protect newer ones. A+ Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app

  10. And that's probably why you won't see them from most manufacturers. The sooner the kite wears out, the sooner they can sell you another. It's a fine line between price point and durability -- one that every business needs to consider. Repeat sales are always welcomed and help a company stay in business. If a product never wears out the market soon becomes saturated.

  11. Or, if you must land, spin the handles or the straps in the same direction until the lines are no longer crossed once the kite is on the ground. In time you end up with a good idea in which direction they are crossed without having to think about it. It starts to become second nature with time on the lines. You can also spin your entire body to the left or right around if you want more exercise.

  12. No such thing as a dumb question.. To Answer your question.... ----> Exactly. Keep in mind depending on line size/brand/quality.. you will start getting resistance as the wrap count increases.. I usually keep a running tally in my head--> 3right,, 4 left OK 1 right to reset.. I reset my mental count whenever the wraps are clear.
