  1. I got a gift card for Christmas for some geek stuff, and thought I could turn it into a more advanced rev lighting. I figured this could be a fun project with my skill set. I've a strip of fully programmable lights (5 meters, 300 lights), an acceleration + gyro chip, a bluetooth chip so I can control it by my tablet, and a 9v battery attachment, all plugged into an Arduino board. I've spent a few hours the past two weekends getting the parts figured out and a mockup made, and I've got some simple patterns identified and programmed. As typical, videos of light shows aren't nearly as pretty as the actual light shows. I also have a "sudden stop" that flashes red for a quarter second, not shown in the video. Those are the patterns on the slowest speed, moving one pixel at a time. They can be made MUCH faster. I'm planning on attaching the patterns to acceleration forward/back and left/right to pull the lights to the side as long as the speed is increasing, then return to neutral. That should give long arc-wise turns throwing the lights to one edge, and launch/landings to have the lights bounce around. I want the circles attached to bicycle spins. And sudden stops on ground or midair will have the red flash. Any other ideas to program in to the thing before I start attaching it to a real kite?

  2. While I will be working on full length tutorials as weather and time allow, here is a basic intro to the Sync Bridle for those of you not on Facebook. Summary for using the limiter adjustment on the Djinn: My favorite knot (x) for an ideal wind range, second from the inside... ————O—-xO——O——O (end) Shortening the distance between top and bottom decks of the bridle favors center sail compression, sharper response. Lengthening that distance makes a more traditional “pull the leading edge” type of flight easier and reduces sensitivity (good for upper wind ranges when the kite is getting squirrelly). There is also a slight increase in max forward speed when the limiter is lengthened. More formal content is planned for the future, as well as more “on the spot” bits like this - thanks all, can’t wait to see the kite express themselves very differently in each of your hands. ☺️ Also FYI, all Djinns come standard on the middle setting like this: ————O——O—-xO——O (end) Feel free to post any follow up questions here. 👍🏻

  3. Reluctantly listing my barely used Fulcrum in mono. Bought it back in August and have flown it about 4 times. In great shape and a lot of fun. Paid $325 plus shipping would like to get $300 + shipping.

  4. The weather here in N Ca is either dead calm or a gale. I have not been able to fly at all this winter. Just wondering if anyone else might have considered an aluminum screen door, single, dual or quad line at the beach. Light duty rope and maybe a good peg driven into the sand in case things get out of hand.

  5. OOPS AC spine is a Dynamic D15. Got to fly it for the 1st time today.About one and a half hours in 0 to 3.Another hour in 0 to 8 max.It can fly in 1 on 75' x 50# but for now I need another 1/2 to really keep it going.Struggled staying under the Pro Dancer this kite replaces under 3. Not a problem at all with the AC. Lam said to get 30# x 80' Super Pro 8 for the low end.Know enough now to understand 5' can make a big difference.Went up on 100' x 90# last hour and as usual preferred the 100'. Next time out I'll do 120' and 125'. A good flier could trick the dickens out of this kite in 1 to 2.As long as I don't hit the ground I think the kite could easily handle a 11 to 12 gust while heading to the side. Got to be up at 4 am. Keep thinking about the days flying instead of sleeping.Stupid kite!!!

  6. The weather has truly been against us as far as the community kite fly. And this day was no exception. Early morning rain, cloudy skies and high winds made it dark and gloomy and questionable for flying. However, there were a couple of desperate people who were willing to take a chance and put a kite in the air. A Time Of Quiet Desperation
