  1. Welcome to the forums SKS65, please send me a PM if you have any questions. :)

  2. Try Kite Company in Newport, probably your nearest "hard core" shop until you reach Vancouver WA. Breakage sounds reasonable with the right high wind straight in scenario... 50/50 chance anyway. Holding up to that is generally reserved for the more flexible, $30-$50 kites... Something like the Quantum will take decent thumps, but not for long up against really good high speed soil samples. Upside again, Prism stuff is easy enough to replace, and not too spendy for that spine rod... You should be back up in the air real soon.
  3. Sorry for your kite, definitely wait for a new spine. What was the wind speed? True pummel landing? Straight down or coming in at an angle? +1 on reaching out to Prism, they have a good rep for addressing problems fairly and helping the flier get back airborne.
  4. Another spot gone, down to 7.
  5. Well, I think credit is due to many of the active members of this forum... I see y'all inspire your colleagues everyday.

  11. I have one of the new Peter Powells myself, great kite. The tails are super cool with a good team, making helixes and all sorts of neat patterns.
  12. Join us for two full days of quad instruction at Sterling State Park near Detroit MI on September 26-27, 2015... We'll be covering everything from absolute basics (pure beginner) all the way up through advanced techniques and team flying, as well as providing short flight routines that are sure to help your skills along while having fun at the same time. Saturday morning is always a group presentation, full 101 on the ins and outs of Rev equipment and related theory, this covers a metric ton of stuff that even the "pros" think they know, but don't... From there, we usually go through the fundamentals of clean launching, landing and control methods... Students then break up onto their own kites to work on the "homework" (maneuver combinations) that I'll distribute beforehand, during which instructor(s) will make the rounds between each flier, offering supporting instruction, as well as addressing individual interests. Sunday is the same without a 101 presentation, followed by a couple hours of team skills introduction to close out the day. Students will use their own kites, any line length will work (80'-90' is very common) but 120' length will be required for team exercises. Must be spectra or Skybond lines for team flying. Testimonials - http://tinyurl.com/jb-testimonials Registration is $150 per person and includes full access to the clinic on both days (10a-4p)... Please note, there are only 12 spots available and we expect them to fill up very quickly. Currently registered to attend: 1. Roger T. 2. John H. 3. Cheryl H. 4. Steve T. 5. Landon K. 6. Mike D. 7. 21. Here are photos of my B-Series Pro STD with leading edge reinforcements... These go on ALL of my 1.5 size Revs now, (aftermarket work) before they're ever flown. The material in these photos is some kind of webbing provided by Rod Thrall of Oregon, slightly more flexible than the Dacron I'd used on my last set of kites. Positioning of the 7 tabs: - Center (approx 2" wide) - Fold points (approx 2" wide) - Either side of fold points (approx 1" wide) Rather than going through repair work when the mesh eventually breaks down (and it still will), I'll be adding 1/2" tabs centered in each of the remaining gaps so that when the mesh is too bad, I'll just cut it out and leave negative (empty) space instead.
