  1. Hi all, since kiting is an inherently healthy activity, I figured I'd make a new forum section waaaaaay down at the bottom here where folks can add tips or discuss any non-kiting lifestyle stuff that has been useful to them, but if this stuff isn't your thing, just fly on. What motivated me today, was the addition of a homemade raw smoothie to my day - delicious and it gave me a buzz! lol First run, just followed my instinct: 4 full Italian kale leaves 1/8 tsp grated raw ginger 2 caps raw food vitamin 1-1/2 cup berry mix 1/2 banana 1/2 cup orange juice 1/3 cup water All organic, non-GMO and raw ingredients, filtered water - seriously yummy! Will try adding a bit of chia seed and walnuts next time.
  2. May sounds like a "Rev promotion" but it's really not, just design facts.
  3. Remember, the TransEye has a totally different profile than a Rev... Same basic inputs, but it has a higher weight > sail ratio, less flex across the face of the kite and less cupping in the belly so while I've never flown one myself, every pic I've seen of it shows a flatter center and I'm certain that it does not generate the same degree of drive and lift. Compare Rev photos with those, imagine how the wind bends the frame and moves across the sail... Both fruit, but still apples and oranges. Re applying brake to turn... In the launch and control tutorial, also the figure eight (maybe), I believe I talk about "squeezing" your ring finger for turns... This is application of brake, albeit in controlled doses (not enough to truly brake - more of a speed control in one wing).
  4. Quite the opposite, because all impact is taken into two little points... On a straight leading edge, the impact is spread throughout the frame and absorbed / released more readily.
  5. Different kite, but still applicable. I'm guessing that applying some of this will help with understanding, and identify other root issues.
  6. You can also experiment with the amount of dihedral (bow) in the cross spreader to create more "keel" and emphasize the spine (relates to tracking), then go on to tail experiments.
  7. Cheap kite - that may be the issue right there. Sadly, many of the <$10 kites produced are not designed or manufactured well. First place I'd check is sail symmetry, are all measurements balanced? Also, a photo really would help because again, design is so important... Proportions, attachment placement, etc are all very real factors, and may be built in at the factory. My 2 cents.
  8. Just TWO entries thus far? *sniffing my armpits* Hmmmm...
  9. Welcome to the forums centralatl :)

Thanks for the welcome, John. I plan to crawl the topics and pages to see what I can learn about quad line kiting. I'm looking to purchase my first, just not sure what to get: HQ mojo, Freilin Windrunner, or Revolution. I have a limited budget of 200 bucks to start. I have read a couple forum post discussing buying US made vs. import but I'm looking for some additional wisdom from experienced quad line flyers.

You're in the right place, lots of good folks here - will get a fair range of feedback. ;)

  10. 2 more left to edit after this...
  11. Mmmmm... DQ is nice after a long day of flying.
  12. A clear shot of the bridle/harness (if it has one) while extended "in flight" may be useful too.
  13. I always say, it's not "practice", it's iterations of what I love to do... Breaking down each component, polishing it. Ten attempts at something back to back will always render more than puzzling the issues for 5 minutes between just three attempts.
  14. Running out of one liners at this time of the morning...
  15. And another...
  16. Sorry, not sure how but I skipped a couple of names and jumbled the numbers on my last post - updated now. 1248 - @povlhp I agree on the regular content, time, conditions and venue are always the challenge - serving as AKA President for nearly 2 years, leading iQuad and publishing KiteLife magazine had me pretty out of my mind (almost literally), then we took a 5 month sabbatical driving around the USA... My schedule is far less hectic now, and this spring should see a TON of new content being added on both the dual and quad line sides, as well as tutorials covering team maneuvers (movement and calls), dogstake, 360s and lots of other topics you just won't find anywhere else. Your support is appreciated - thank you, I'll do my very best to validate it on my end through the coming year. Regards!
  17. We had a light wind fly in Portland today, but good # of folks turned up - great social, and enough puffs to get a little airtime.
  18. OMG - that'd be epic, and WAY more work for me. lol
  19. Guess I can't very well say I'm in for a weekend with myself, eh? LOL Good luck all, and thanks Scott for putting this up.
  20. Latest update... 11 - @gsonzogni (renewed) 926 - @Leslie Kerr (renewed) 972 - @Mstroke2012 (renewed) 1028 - @Treen03 (renewed) 1247 - @dougie 1248 - @povlhp 1249 - @chrisslondon 1250 - @revaholic Note, renewed indicates a subscriber who had lapsed for a spell and come back.
  21. To all, please have a safe and fulfilling KiteLife in the New Year. Thanks for being you!
  22. Save the watch! That's about one of the best compliments I could get, imho - I love hanging out with folks who raise my bar too.
  23. Yep, MadQuad himself, Marc van der Graaf.
