  1. I personally did not like the Spider. The balance of the sail was far to biased to the wingtips. Others have felt the same way,
  2. Same seam after correction.. Fortunately the sail is still quite oversized and this will not affect the final result. A few stitches and it would have been too late.
  3. During all my final QC before sewing I noticed a misalignment along one seam (Yellow Circles). This is why I always back-light and photograph my efforts..
  4. Center Panel completed. Ready to sew now.
  5. Warm and Cool Sides backlit. Slight issues with some of my fabric forced a color progression adjustment. Colors are: Bottom Panel (right to left)Red, Orange, Yellow, Flo Yellow, Flo Green Top Panel (right to left)Flo Green, Teal, Royal Blue, Midnight Blue & Purple. Hopefully will be able to piece the center tomorrow and start sewing.
  6. I also agree with the Djinn but I limited my response to the name brand identified by the OP.
  7. Given your stated preference, I would go out of my way to find a good used B-Series..
  8. Most of us use the technique of flying other people's Kites (also known as OPK). I do realize that could be a challenge when separated from other fliers by distance/borders or other impediments..
  9. Next project will be two kites that will mirror each other. Will use R,O,Y,(FY),(FG),G,(LB),B,V variation across the face. Gray Fade Darker in the middle with the White Mesh interspersed among the gray. This will probably go much slower than my other recent projects due to piecework on several of the strips needed to utilize some of the shorter strips in my strip box.
  10. This Kite has a new home on the West Coast.

  12. Hadn't taken the time to snap a photo of the kites I carry in my bag in a while.
  13. I know NAPKA is the organization in the US for Powerkiting.
  14. @FranckPG I'm very glad Jim is sharing this kite. It's one of those that clicked for me very well the first time. Thank you sincerely for the feedback..

    Handles

1st response is it's a personal decision. Everyone's take is different.. 2nd response to answer your question from my viewpoint, YES!!! It truly makes a difference for me. I only use 13" handles on 72" sails. While I don't personally subscribe to it, some of the better indoor and low wind fliers use 15's, 17's or even longer handles. Personal recommendation, Have a look at the Freilein Handles. A simple change of the leaders and you have a great set of handles. With the typical Rev handles, you'll eventually want to convert to snagless. That's already done for the Freilein ones.
  18. This Kite has a new home..
  19. We did discuss collectively how the Quad landscape was changing. The Hadzicki wing and it's derivatives truly changed the landscape of recreational and competition sport kite flying. https://kitelife.com/forum/topic/7389-4-lines-your-choices/ Innovations like Magnetic points, Panel count, LEading Edge enhancements, Springs, Spars and shape variances all come into play with not only the companies mentioned here but the various builders that have ventured into the field as well. There is no single one answer for everyone. I've seen vented sails with velcro covers to make it a full sail and other innovations that change the way a sail flies. I've even done a few innovations of my own. Does it make a kite better? That question can only be answered by the flier. What works for one person may be completely unusable to another. The point I'm trying to make is there are many advances since the patent ran out allowing competition for the the Hadzicki wing and variants to drive advancements that were not possible a few short years ago. Find what works for you and use it.

    Grey Fade

Video is a bit sketchy but I think this is the first time you tried it.. IIRC, Winds were very low that day. Especially for Jockeys Ridge.
