  1. Thank you for the very kind words. The cool thing about this technique is the color schemes all balance themselves out. The last Gray though, was the first of two made from two different panel arrangements.. It gives it a different (almost plaid) look I can't recreate with the normal technique. Only restriction is I have to make 2 kites this way when I do it.. Same thing for a Symmetrical sail, you have to make 4 panels and match them up since the technique offsets the two sides. The normal result from this method is a kites whose sides are similar but complimentary, not mirrored.

  3. Gray 2 is done.. Decided it should be the smaller 72" (B2 size) Ready for flight testing..
  4. As many of you know, The options for Purple Icarex these days are either Purple or "Discontinued" I was able to get some of the discontinued colors in limited quantities.. Something Special is of course in the works.. Stay tuned.. These colors are 5th in line behind other projects that need to get completed. Pics of all, back lit and on the floor.. The Plum looks BLACK without the light behind it..
  5. Been playing with the Diamonds Colorizer a bit.. Trying to decide what to build next.. I was able to obtain some Grape, Plum and Wine colors so a new purple fade is now a possibility.
  6. One minor note. Classifications for these foils is very specific and the foils you've mentioned are all known as sport foils. Speed foils often fall into this category but not always.. The Sport foils are numbered roughly to denote wingspan.. Traction foils a.k.a. Power Kites are measured in square meters. A 2M Traction foil is significantly larger than and more powerful than a 2.2 Sport foil.. Here is a 2.2 Sport foil (Symphony) on top of a 2M Powerfoil (HQ Crossfire). All that being said, the Sport foils fly pretty much the same all other things being equal. I prefer the Symphony Pro kites by far as the bridling is superior.
  7. If you get the 2.2 then definitely go for the Pro.. The bridles on the pro are sewn and higher quality overall than the Beach Version.

Due to dithering in the program I used for graphics, I recommend setting panel lines to solid. Enjoy, Please feel free to share your ideas here.   10. So I found an older colorizer over on GWTW and adapted it for the diamonds design.. It's not web based but gives me a pretty good idea of how I can set up my color schemes. Here are a few quick samples.

Crosskites 1.8 if I'm not mistaken is actually a 1.8M size and would be much larger than the 180 and slightly larger that the Symphony 2.2 There are 2 different ways to measure these kites, until you mentioned the Crosskites, you were talking about Sport Size, once you get into Square Meters, you are truly in the power kite territory.. Here is a Symphony 2.2 (sport size) laying on top of a Crossfire 2M (Square Meters) kite.. Notice the 2M kite is much larger and much more powerful.. Mkae sure when you are looking at the numbers you are aware of which numbers you are actually using.. Power Kites, Square Meter sizing is also known by the term Traction Size and are literally tuned to provide maximum pull to propel a buggy, board or other transportation device.. Here is Chris Shultz from HQ Kites using my 4M Crossfire to scud through the sand at Jockey's Ridge..
  12. I'm a huge fan of the HQ Symphony but would highly suggest you look at the 2.2 I have a 1.8 and it pretty much stays in my bag.. I have 8 of the 2.2's that I converted and those get flown EVERY chance I get.. one reason I recommend the 2.2 over the 1.8 is the 1.8 is a bit too small to convert.

    Started a colorizer for my Diamonds.. Will be pretty rudimentary compared to the Djinn work from Watty. A quick sample of some of the pre-art going in place for this..

    More Icarex arrived today.. I was able to get a small amount of both Grape and Plum but no Eggplant. Some of the classic purple shades are nearly impossible to find these days.. Combining those two with a few strips of Eggplant I have left from the scrap bin and some Purple ought to give me a nice gradient fade for a purple kite. A new Purple Dark Fade and a 5 or 6 color sunset fade are in my head right now.. I'm completely out of seam tape so nothing to cut or mock up yet.. I also plan to add the Midnight Blue Challengemax Poly into another kite like on the original Diamonds kite.. I assume it's because of the smaller ripstop grid, but it refracts the light differently and I should be able to get some shimmer patterns if I do this right.

    Thank You.. I found a few pinholes where I had trimmed the threads a touch too close and had to repair those.. Test flew it today on 30 ft lines.. Fun Kite, not a perfect kite but still very fun to fly.. no performance issues that I can detect...
  19. Finished up this kite today and did a quick Bridle test.. Hoping for flight test this week.
