@SparkieRob Thanks for the shout out.. Keep in mind that only works when you have reinforced the corners to keep them from bunching up. I make these triangles and use them instead of the washers..

It's a bit more work intensive but if you are already replacing the LE screen mesh, I've seen some do this.. These pics are from @oapbillf where he repaired a Rev EXP.

A second reinforcement stitch along the trailing edge is also a great way to extend the life of your sail. Knot Covers for Bungee attachment points as well as replacing the screen with punched Dacron are also done though not as often as the other items identified here. Replacing the REV endcaps on the LE with Freilein caps eliminates the need for the rubber washer when using a SLE on SLE and Speed Series Revs. FWIW, many of these modifications are performed as a Service by our forum host. @John Barresi

Some night Flying in rural Boston before I turn Touch of Blue over to its new owner.. Very nice moon tonight.

That V has a lot of reinforcement, per your earlier advice.. It's reinforced underneath the Trailing edge and doublestitched. In all honesty, I found this move from failed flic flac practice.. It's under rotating one side on the "flic" which give you the windmill action that everyone dreads.. But firming up the grip gives you the half turn and landing sometimes.. Most of the time I end in a fade OR I fail to exit the spin in time.. I say right now this move for me is still in the realm of luck BUT I'm working on it.. The point is as you described, but there's also a cool 3 beat to it that works well with some music selections

If you are on the fence about making your own kite, take the dive.. The joy of flying something you created with your own hands has very few parallels in the world of kiting. You've literally taken raw materials be they tails, scraps, discount ripstop or the most expensive fabrics and given them a part of your personality. Sure you can follow a pattern but the materials, color scheme and final result is truly a personal extension of yourself. My first kites were made with tails from Gomberg.. they were fun to make, fun to fly and a teacher on what and what not to do on so many levels.. I'm still working with the same basic concepts I learned there and with very few exceptions, I'm sewing straight lines. If you have an old sewing machine and the desire to see where your imagination really flies, give it a go. there are plenty of plans of all difficulty linked from the main page http://kitelife.com/tag/kite-plan as well as over on the kitebuilder forum. Take the plunge, you can still find suitable fabric for as little as $3 a yard as of this posting.. My first 'from scratch" kite "Indigo Sunrise" was made from this fabric and truthfully, it was a blast to create and a personal victory flying it for the first time. Just ask @windpoacher. I get a true kick out of others flying my creations. I post this not to bring attention to my work but to encourage you to try it. It's well worth the effort. Get some fabric, have a plan, and GO FOR IT!!!

Practice on 30's if you have them.. I'm also just learning this move but John told me first thing to switch to short lines to start with..
