  1. Heading back from Canada after spending the weekend in White Rock for the Kite Festival there. Great job by those that organized it!!! Saw some great looking kites by some of the Northwest's top designers.... Also saw Egan landing his Rev on just about everyone's head that walked by. He was flying the "eyes" today and entertained the hell out of the crowd. What that man can do with a Rev is amazing. Nice guy too. Talked to him for a little bit as he was leaving. He even put the kite down on top of the hat of one of the local police officers...... Didn't see that one but a couple people told me about it....it was pretty funny and the cop played along....after he figured out what was hitting him on the head!! Great job Egan!!!! Can't wait to see you all in Portland next week. (if I actually get to go) P
  2. Excellent suggestion Kent......And ANT.......Did you throw the (kidding) in there at the end due to the fact that someone else in the house might check out the Forum???? HMMMMMMM... P
  3. Well Ant..... your wife must be pretty cool as well.....I would guess she has something to do with that custom Rev in your pic!!!! And Quad Kit how would your wife get to your kites.....does she have the key or combo to your safe??? I'm trying to get her hooked as well. I'm trying all angles. I might get her interested in making kites...once she's hooked I'll have a better time of it. I told her that if she could make some nice kites it would save us a lot of money.......so, I'm hoping. Ant, how many kites have you made so far and how did they fly? P
  4. Well hello all you Quadheads. I finally broke out my new Rev 1.5 and had the wind to fly it. This was only my 2nd time since purchasing it at the end of last season and the first time I put it together wrong!!!! Well, we were out at Ocean SHores over the weekend and after putting up a dozen or so SLK's I decided to just deal with the embarrassment that I would face in front of the masses of people on the beach and give the REV a shot. It paid off big time!!! I broke it out......put it together (correctly this time) and got it laid out on the beach. AFter playing with it for 10- 15 minutes I was starting to get a little bit of feel for it when a guy approached me and asked me about it. It turned out that he used to fly for Team Cutting Edge...had flown for years and was pretty damn good with the Rev. He spent a good deal of time with me giving me a lesson or two and boy did it open up some doors. I feel totally comfortable with flying the kite now. NOt that I'm any good yet...but at least I know that I can keep it in the air and hopefully not take out any little kids or small animals with the kite. I AM HOOKED>>>>>>>>DAMN. My wife is not happy about it. She's pissed at the money I've spent on kites and now knows that her time with me will be even less now that I will be out learning how to fly this thing every chance i get. I even want to get a couple more so that I can keep one in each vehicle and one in my kite bag. I guess it time to save up for the new B series kite. Looking for flyers in the North Seattle area to fly with and learn from. I'm excited! P
  5. Hello Penny.....;thanks for the help. I was out of town all weekend. Actually went to Ocean Shores and flew kites. Sat was horrible with rain but Sunday was a sunshiny day and beautiful. I actually spent some time with the REV and am not nearly as intimidated by it as I was before. I could actually keep it in the air....even do turns and keep it from crashing. I'm on my way. I will try to get in touch with Glenn and see if he wants to meet to fly sometime. I am actually in Edmonds area. If there is anyone out there that flys their REV on a regular basis and would not mind me tagging along and taking advantage of their knowledge....please let me know. I would love to hook up and fly. If anyone knows of any decent areas North of Seattle to practice...PLEASE chime in and let me know. Good flying fields are few and far between it seems. Thanks again......... Patrick
  6. Hey, I have been getting to know Erv at 4 winds kite shop in Everett, WA and have looked over the dual line kites he makes. I don't hear much about them...and I'm not even sure if he has a "brand" that they are marketed under. I could be completely wrong. I know he has a partner that works with him. Has anyone flown these and what do you know about them. Erv seems like a great guy and always full of kite knowledge. I'm sure he has been in the scene for quite a while... Just thought I would ask. P
  7. According to the latest update on the Gomberg site.....they put 19 in the air at the festival in France.........I'm sure there must be some pics somewhere. P
  8. I cannot believe it. I was out there with Erv and Mark two weekends in a row....went to Long Beach on a last minute trip over the Easter Weekend....Wanted to fly but it rained both days....dratts... My company is having a huge event at the fairgrounds in Puyallup and I must be there on both Sat and Sun. John or crew...what are your plans for the evenings. I would love to run into you guys and say hello!!!! Where are you all staying and do you anticipate going out on any of the nights...I could get back for that. Are you going to be flying on just Sat and Sun? Are you going home on Monday? Hope you all have fun and that the wind is good and the rain is hiding.... P
  9. I cannot believe it. The weekend you guys are going to be in my own backyard and I won't be around. DAMN. Have fun out there. P
  10. John, It's great that this kite ended up in the hands of someone who truly appreciates it. It's amazing that there are no others out there. I'm glad you like it and that it worked out. I thought it was going to fall apart there for a while. I hope everything went OK with the transaction. I hope to see you flying it soon and that it is in good shape. I missed out on many of the great kites that were in the same batch but picked up a couple of original Joel Sholz Bird Kites made and signed by him when he was making his own kites and had his own company. That Rev went to the right guy. Happy New Year. P
  11. Hey Quad....Looks like it's about time to start looking for a new Kite Safe. I'm sure the one you have must be getting full by now. I think I need to hook my wife up with your wife. Despite all the HINTS and CLUES left around I did not get one darn kite for Christmas...or my Bday (12-23)!!!! Congrats on all the new LOOT. P
  12. The only reason we have not heard from John yet is due to the fact that he pulled my # and does not want to upset you guys that have known him longer. He will probably just call you with the bad news and break it to you personally.....you know....let you down easy and reassure you that there will be another drawing very soon....that you MIGHT have a chance at. Boy, I'm going to have to ramp up my Rev training now that I have 2. I might even have to buy a kite safe.......whatever the hell that is. Must be a pretty rough neighborhood for someone to have to keep their kites in a safe. I wonder if he has kids and has to use a "Barbie Safe" or a "GI Joe & Star Wars Action Figure Safe". SKITCH
  13. My Predictions for the new year. Onc sad man in Wildwood sobbing quietly on his couch watching (just as all the players of his favorite team are WATCHING) the NFL playoffs. He is sad that he lost yet another contest that he hoped he would have won....bored with all his old kites and wishing he had that ONE new kite that would have made his new year special. One bitter old east coast quad kiter staring blankly into his kite "safe" at an empty space he prepared but could not fill.....taking out his repressed anger on very small, innocent animals. One nice lady from Washington...happy with life and looking forward to the next chance to win something fun and very happy inside that even though she did not win...of the other guys...the right man won the coveted kite. I'll be happily playing on the beach with my kid while I learn how to fly a beautiful new kite and Tivo records my team winning a couple of playoff games....(at least) . It's mine.....just deal with it. P
  14. Step on up boy who likes losing teams....I need a light workout up here in the great Northwest. Get ready for the pain of disappointment!!!! P
  15. That sounds fun. Count me in. I want to get very involved in the next season. P
  16. Ant, I had no idea you were skillsist..(person who discriminates against another based solely on level of skills). We all have to start somewhere and it will feel soooo nice to hone those new skills with a finely tuned, brand new Rev 1 that I didn't have to pay a cent for. RAMS!!!!! Go Seahawks!!!! P
  17. Is there any negative to buying an older rev as opposed to a newer rev? Any major differences or design changes that might be an issue? Thanks, P
  18. Is there anyone out there that can tell me about these Revs. Any info would be appreciated. I'm a newbie and have no idea what model these are. I know they are fairly old. Thanks, Skitch
  19. You guys are cracking me up!!!! I'm sitting here eating pringles and drinking cheap warm beer while you guys are wasting your energy and time fighting over something neither of you will ever touch. Yes, that's right. I will not let either of you fly this nice new Rev once it gets to my house.....I don't care which festival we finally cross paths at. I just want you to watch me...with my very limited and incredibly lacking skills.....much the inferior to either of you....attempt to learn how to fly this thing without beating the crap out of it......I will however take coaching tips from either of you. But I will not let you fly it because I know you will be harboring ill will towards me and the kite after such a huge disappointment during the Holidays. And, with my lacking skills I definitely don't need that bad Karma/Vibes mucking up my new kite. So I suggest that you both get your wives, girlfriends, boyfriends or "significant others" to buck up and order you one of these for Christmas, cHanaka (sp), Quanza, whatever, if you are really thinking about the chance to fly one after 12/15. The writing is on the wall, the checks are in the mail and I'm telling both of you "how the cows eat the cabbage". It's a done deal. Deal with it, take a nice long walk around the mall and watch all the kiddies freaking out over new toys, try to pick up a little Holiday Spirit to fill the deep hole of disappointment in your gut and drink a frickin egg nog latte. You might even wait in line to sit on Santa's lap and let him know about your problems....cuz no one else is listn'n.....fellas!!!! Here's to ya both.........(maybe I should just put some Ice in this mug) Penny.....I can't wait to see you fly some day....I've heard great things. Maybe you will keep a calm head and help me learn how to fly my new kite. Check ya later, Skitch PS.......Happy Birthday Ant. I do hope I get a chance to meet you one of these days.
  20. Ant and Quad Kit........Would you guys mind meeting me at the beach and showing me how to fly my new REV 1....I should be getting it in the mail sometime around.....12/19! Of course there is the Christmas rush to contend with so it might take a few more days to get to me from John's house. P
  21. WILL WE SOON BE TREATED TO BARRESI FLYING MULTIPLE REVS......TOPLESS ON THE BEACH!!!??????? ........ Do we really have to wait a whole MONTH for that Rev drawing.....arrrrghhhhhhh. Skitch
  22. Wow...can you believe it sold for only $113.........with everything. That's what I get for buyins SLK's over the weekend. (They are pretty nice though.) P
  23. Have you guys seen this? I cannot afford it right now...but at $100 it looks like a pretty good deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1
  24. I WAS CONSIDERING BUYING ANOTHER REV AND I LIKED THEIR PRICES. THNX FOR THE HEADS UP ON CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUES. I SENT THEM AN EMAIL TONIGHT AND RECEIVED AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE FROM TONY. HE STATED THAT HE HAD BEEN OUT OF THE COUNTRY FOR A WHILE. NOT A GREAT REASON FOR SOMEONE WHO HAD SENT THEM $$$$, BUT AT LEAST YOU CAN BE HOPEFUL THAT EVERYTHING IS OK. HOPE THIS HELPS. HIS REPLY: "Hello, I was away for almost a month in Europe and some orders did ship very late. Thanks for letting me know that. Tony Maninha" P
