  1. I have a over built 100% mesh for the gnarly days. Looking to fill a gap in the bag.
  2. JB hasn't contacted me, but i could be in. What's the camping / lodgeing scene up there. I'm super dialed on the Oregon coast. Years of surfing there. I know nothing of Washington, hear it's a different deal.
  3. Arrived today in perfect condition. Definitely a SUL, spectra bridle and all. Might need some bungi tweeks but other wise unused condition. Second pic is 6.5 ounces. Thanks Russ!
  4. For sale or trade. Revolution reflex spider RX. Lime color. Flown 5 times by me. 1 extra reflex shaft and standard shaft. Has been sold on here before. Photos copied from that post. Hope that's ok. I rarely get winds high enough to need this much venting. 175$ or trade for b series mid vent or B2.
  5. Flys normal, I bought a classic as my first Rev. I didn't know anything about Revs or Jon's history with them. Although I had met him and already owned a kymerra. I also picked up a reflex spider "thanks riff". But I rarely have a need for that much venting. Probably going to sell it and pick up a mid vent.
  6. I guess the sarcasm wasn't obvious enough. I don't like flying with springs, I removed them so they fit in the bag easier.
  7. One pesky sticker, a weird wrap and spring gone. Found some extra spars in my bag that are now useable. Anyone else try this? Let the comments fly. This forum is quiet and I'm in a conference tomorrow.
  8. A quick Google search answered my question. They did make a SUL /SLE.
  9. Is this kite still available? Is it actually a sul? Did they make a sle in sul?
  10. Your correct Riff, like you I don't fly with springs.
  11. I'm getting the catch down fairly consistent, but the lines keep jumping into the bridle and tangling. I'm giving the tug pretty high in the window with the kite coming down at a fairly steep angle. Should I give the tug lower in the window with a lower angle glide or work on a more gentle catch. Do you initiate the tug just before it stalls at the top or slow it down 3/4 up and give it a soft high tug. I thinking a more progessive catch wil help. I've been using prism micon Dynemma lines cut down to 35ft. Just ordered a set of LPG 50# x 30ft lines that should be stiffer and slicker, hoping those help. Mostly practicing on a 1.5 classic with a P90 frame in very light wind. I'm thinking a stiffer frame will be easier to throw. Would a skyshark clx 150/ 250 leading edge help with glide? Or throw the 3 wrap in and pump it up?
  12. Is this still available? I could put a p2x frame in it and make it my street kite.
  13. This site has the cheapest quality line sets available. I prefer Shanti over LPG but I also like to fly 50# x 50' over 90# x 90'. But you need both eventually. http://www.awindofchange.com/product/shanti-set-quad.html I really struggled until i got on the 50x50s. You just got a UL, I'd get a set of 50# x 50s for that sail! The 90 LPGs still have a real lag to to them. I haven't flown on 120's yet,but i'd have to slow down my inputs. When its ripping and the mesh or Spider is on I still feel underlined. I was in your place a few months ago, I've added a Spider vented, built an 100% mesh, a UL B2, working on a Zen sized SUL. Good Luck and pay off your credit card every month. There's a NYM on the for sale thread I'm looking at.
  14. Is the green or black race frame in it?
  15. This kite would go nicely with the red leaders and bridle I just received. Did I win?

Another in the bag, there's a satisfying feeling folding up a new build and stuffing it in the bag after you've worked on it so long. Got a chance to fly it today, didn't have a bridle so I tied up some pigtails and flew it off the verticals. Had to adjust a bunch of brake into it. Very responsive/ twitchy, but it flew in fairly light wind. So little pull it was hard tell what it needed to do at the edge. Tended to sheet out and drop. Next projects are a SUL 1.5 and some cork handled controls. I'm fly fisherman and think foam handles are ghetto.

Thanks for all the input. I just finished a B2 sized kite and figured since they came with 11's I'd try that size. Ordered some grips for .25 & .375 tubes. I'll see what I can source locally for tubing. All so have some leaders on the way. Maybe I'll start a new thread when I get the parts. Seems to be plenty of interest and suggestions.

Thinking of making a set of 11 inch handles with some of John's leaders. I would like to try some cork handles and 5/16 stainless tube. Should be pretty easy using the snagless mod. Looking at fishing rod building sites now.

Thanks for all the info. Messenger isn't letting me respond on my phone. Only my tablet.

Got the sail finished today. Original idea to punch holes for the leading edge was thwarted by the fact that this stuff is impossible to punch hole in. Installing the mesh was a step I hadn't planned on, but I think it turned out pretty good. Need to cut one the frame and install the bungi's and caps. Is it O.K to do this now or should I wait until I have the bridle?

Transparent fabic is interesting to work with, having natural light helps. Got the corners reinforced and edges bound. Working with the tape is one shot deal, the fabric stetches and distorts if you try to pull it apart. Rolling the air bubbles out of the seem is an interesting process, a needle and a urethane roller seemto work well.

Thanks Riff. I'm on the right track.
  23. I find the longer lines really put the kite in slow motion. I usually fly in lighter winds and prefer lighter lines. I like flying on 50# × 50' lines, when I switch to 90# x 90' I have to slow down the inputs. Longer lines "could" be easier to learn on, but I find there's to much sag in the brake lines. If you aren't paying close attention when the slack snaps out the kite is oversterring and out of control. I'd like to put together a set of 50# tops and 35# bottoms just to test the brake line drag/sag theory.

Is this plan close enough to use a factory built bridle? https://www.kiteplans.org/planos/revosfaura/mirevo2.html
