  1. Looking at your bag I'd say you next kite is a Djinn full vent. Flying in non beach winds I feel it backs up and bicycles better than the standard.
  2. You need to change your name to Riff's kite factory. RKF productions? Riff's polyester persuasions? RPP?
  3. Djinn for the win! I've flown the fulcrum. It's a kite and fly's, but I wouldn't waste my money on it.
  4. I''m sure we will cross paths. We will be staying at Solare Tower @ bahia mar.

    Kite bag lite.

Last pic was bad, hopefully this is better. Fabric is custom printed from ripstop my the roll. https://ripstopbytheroll.com/collections/hexcam/products/copy-of-hyperd-300-diamond-ripstop-polyester-hexcam?variant=13654541467696
  6. Once again its winter and I hope everyone is quietly building things. Riff is the only one posting up on here. Im hopeing for progressive stack. My next project is a day bag. Probably only hold 3 quads , handles and 2-3 line sets.
  7. I know most kites are sewn with the three step zig zag, wich is a stretch stitch. John double stitches the trailing edges with a straight stitch. Would it make more sense to hem the seams on a mesh with a double straight stitch.
  8. I was wondering about the stretch. Not sure if those tails were cut on the weft or weave. The mesh I built was micron tails. Its been holding pretty good. I've flown it in stupid wind.
  9. Just wondering, seems like a hemming foot would be a big timesaver. Someone invented it for a reason. I approach projects from a carpenters perspective. Build up, not seamstress approach, of build it inside out then turn to right side out.
  10. Are you using a hemming foot? I got one with a machine recently, only messed with it for a minute.
  11. So your doing mesh thru the center? Given your past venting trials, I don't see why it wouldn't work great. Are these the G-kites tails or poly? I picked up some tails a while ago, 6 pack of 15's and a 45'. Haven't started on anything yet.
  12. I think I was there when you flew with the lights, didn't Sarah bring pizza to the log we we're partying at?
  13. Who else got kite stuff for Christmas? I got a pop up tent, Gomberg super sled w/ tail and a set of northern lights for kites. Thanks @windpoacher and nlforkites@gmail.com for sourcing the lights. Now I can be more like Eli and sit in my own autograph signing tent and not hog space in his.
  14. Not sure what revived this thread, but a new contrbuter is always welome. Picked up a Pfaff 1525 recently, the pedal feed is actually smoother than the 1222. To bad that one is still in the shop.
  15. I'd get mesh from Riff on this forum. He probably has a pile of his "tails" kites stuffed in a corner. Nothing handles better in gusty, flying when you probably shouldn't be. I built my own for fairly cheap and fly it when I don't want to pull out my Djinn full vent. There a good first kite building project. If your flying solo in gusty high winds the kite doesn't need to be perfectly built.
  16. I'll be there Thursday thru Sunday 1/30- 2-2. Probably be flying around on 30's being a nuisance. I'm friends with all of the Oregon kiters. I'm not flying with any teams, but know basic team moves. I'll have a set of 120' lines in my pocket. Going down to meet up with my parents that are winter Texan retirees. I'm down to team fly out of the arena. I've heard this is different from the Oregon Kite festivals where we have our own show on the other side of the river of the real festival.I should probably get some lights for night flying. I'm stoked. LETS JAM, BOOM!
  17. Second picture red sail is a stock rev setup. Other pic is a homemade. On the stock rev setup I'd probably reverse the routing of the bridle. Just do it all symmetric.
  18. So I was wrong about how Rev did there leading edge bungees. I described how I did the ones on my homemades. Neither is wrong, I just didn't like how Rev's method bunched the fabric. Watty's video is better than I remembered. attaching the verticals to the horizontal is somewhat confusing. Just a heads up. Order some of TK's leaders when you order your bridle.
  19. Nice kite! Your second picture has the bungees correct. One end through each hole and a single overhand knot in each with a small plastic washer under each knot, knots on the back. I would definitely order a new bridle from John. Yours is not quite installed properly, stick the end of the loop through the hole in the cap and loop it over the end of the cap outside of the bungee if that makes sense. Ill take a picture in a bit. Installing a new bridle is very easy, but confused me the first time. Watty made a video showing how to do it, but filmed the crux part in the dark.

  22. Well two goes and no interest. Guess we'll try this again later. John or Riff is it OK to postpone this for a while?
  23. I like this one, I've been trying to work out a grey fade with red. this looks great.
  24. Thanks, I think this one will generate more interest.
  25. Since this drawing was a bust, and community opinions suggest that I should offer something more substantial...I'll offer up the 2nd burrito kite bag I made ....40" allowing it to be used for DLK as well as quads. This drawing is for the black bag with the black & white pin striping referenced in the attached thread . This should create a lot more interest in this karma drawing Drawing to be held Sunday 11/17
