"So where's the wind smart a@#"? Um, dude it's blowin' toward the kite in the air.
-
Close to me Watty, is like almost 70 miles away. LOL As the crows fly it's closer than that. But I haven't figured out how to fly yet. So don't feel bad. I'm more than likely going to the shop I have gone to since I started flying. But I'll pay out the arse for it if you know what I mean. Then I'll have to come up with the money to go fly with all those great ppl at Delta Park.

Antman, he's funny. Didn't answer the question, but it was a funny thought. Thank you Mr. Barresi

I won't do the mail order thing. I have known the folks at The Kite Company in Newport, Oregon since I started flying. Since I fly the MEFM the Kite company is the only place to go. They are the distributer in the US for that kite. Actually, my plan was to consider buying the Rev at the Kite Shoppe and going to Delta Park West to maybe fly with that bunch. Make some new friends and maybe learn something I wouldn't flying on my own. Just haven't figured out if I'll have the money to take a road trip yet. If I don't have the money then I'll go to Newport and try talking the shop owner into going out for a bit.

Offically for competition? Or I could just say that?
-
Cool, thats what I thought. Just wanted to make sure. Didn't think the outer most end caps made sense. course I probably would have tried it if no one replied soon enough. Thank you much Mr. Ant BTW, I'm thinkin about trying the seamless one piece Rev sail too.

So in removing the bridal, I make my attachment points basically where the vertical rods attach?

"IF" I can get the ppl to commit to letting us use the facility for a day, how many ppl would be interested in flying in an indoor football practice facility? I'm working on getting in there for myself. But how many ppl would be interested in a day of indoor flying with friends?

Is one person flying 2 kites considered a pairs team?
-
Thank you Watty, that makes reroding the Rev 1 and buying the B series that much easier. Now the decision is to buy it on the coast for $350 plus $50 for lines or buy it somewhere else. Cutting Edge's web site shows I could get kite and lines for the same price. Mail order or get it now cause I want it. LOL decisions decisions

I'm curious as to how big the flying box is in a compitition? Seems like it was 300' by 300' the only time I tried competing. Which also makes me wonder why people fly on lines longer than 100'? I've been flying for quite a while and have seen and heard of ppl using up to 500lb line in excess of 100'. Does the heavier and longer line take the place of the old wind tamers or line weights? Is there a team out there with each pilot flying at least 2 kites? Just curious. Always wanted to do that just don't know anyone else that flies two kites at once.

BTW, I'm not really new to trickin. Just been outta physical life for a while cause of an accident. I'm working on roto fades, and Yo-Yo's. But I don't think my M will do Yo-Yo's. Bummer. Great excuse for buying a new kite

It's not the cascade. If you were flying horizontal, then snap stalled then axled. But with this, you don't let the kite go vertical. When done right the bottom wing (that is the one you snap - HARD) rises, the kite goes completly flat but rotates like a flat spin till you pull it out. I kinda think it's a kite specific thing. My M.E.F.M. won't do it. Been trying for YEARSSSSSS LOL

I would like to thank Mr. Barresi for this site and for creating my kiting addiction. In the mid 90's I got the chance to see him fly in a Lincoln City compition. Flying a Red and Black Wasp. The complete control he exibited in 20+mph winds was incredible. I went from a weekend flyer to an 8 to 10 hours a day freak for a couple of years. At least 5 days a week. I doubt he remembers that day as the time he has spent in the sport, but I attempted my first ballet that day. Sort of anyway I was flying a purple M.E.F.M., set up ALL WRONG in too high of a wind. Laughable now, but I thought I'd never try competing again at the time. It seemed like everyone who had a clue wanted to know what I was thinking with the set up. If only I would have left the 6" wind tamer on instead of spazin about snagging it on the flat spin I had planned. Anyway, thank you Mr. Barresi for giving me the drive to be as perfect as I could be. Dean750

Flying straight across the window, pull with the top hand to start the rotation up, just as the nose starts to go up snap the bottom hand and step forward. This is a very agressive trick be warned. When done right it's a very quick set up and axel kind of thing. Sort of.... If anyone try's this, see how many revolutions you can get outta one snap. It may be something only certain kites can do. I don't know. For me, I've only been able to do it with an Airmaster Bad Boy and the Crystal Kites C3. With the Bad Boy I could consistantly get two perfect rotations. With the C3 my personal record was 25 rotations. I always thought this is what a multiple axle was. Not the one axel after another. Dean

Thank you Dan, the VIP certainly is pretty. The weight of it suprised me a little. No wonder it looks so fast.
-
I think your right about that Aerochic. Besides the kite, I would also get the longer handles I'll be needing for light wind flying of my current Rev. Now if the IRS would just pay me. Funny how everything seems to take forever when you want something. LOL

I own 3 indoor kites, the Synchro which seems a bit big for some places to fly and it's more of a graceful kite. The Nik Nak is a little faster but feels a little heavier and the X4I is just a little small unless I'm flying them both at the same time. So, what are good options between 4 and 6 feet that are fast, stable but able to do the newest tricks? I've seen one of Mr. Barresi's indoor comp. vids. His kite looks a little smaller but fast and trickable. Wonder what it is?

I never imagined I'd get so many helpful responses. Thank you all. When my stimulas comes in I'll be doing some serious thinking. I almost think I should get a "what should I do poll"? going. As in, should I rerod my current Rev, or buy the B Series? I read an older reply of Penny's, about flying bridalless. That might be what I do along with shorter lines and lighter rods. My current Rev, I do believe just became my zero to no-wind Quad. LOL, Guess I just talked myself into getting the B Series. You all are so helpful. Now I'm wondering, can you actually feel a Rev in zero wind? I've tried a Rev 2 in zero and I couldn't feel it. Course thats a bit of a size difference. But I was able to fly the Synergy indoors up in Long Beach. I could feel that quad. I do need to feel the kite at least a little. I have no problems feeling my Synchro, Nik Nak or my X4I. But my M.E.F.M. is a cow to fly in zero. It has lift but I can't feel it so I over control it. I'm starting to feel a pull to the dark side.

I'm also wondering if maybe the sail is part of the problem. It's not the same kind of Icarex as my M.E.F.M. or Illusion. It seems to be like a 3/4 oz rip stop instead of the 1/2 oz. It seems like the 1/2 oz sails are stiffer and stretch less giving a little more feeling of the kite over the heavier rip stop sails. Or maybe I'm just a dork. Sorry, just had a thought.

Funny that you mention that, someone just posted this video of Steve from team iQuad just this past week: As for flying inland, the reason why I asked that is because I am running into similar problems. The winds shift often and are very inconsistent sometimes. :/ LMBO... That was AWSOME!!! Man I really do gotta fly a REAL Rev. You couldn't even dream about that with my Rev. Now what if you had A handle for each kite? I thought cascades and flat spins with 2 X4I' was exilerating. Same with dual M.E.F.M.'s. Just doesn't require as much finger strength. WOW

Your doing Flik Flaks before axles??? Taking an ass backwards approch eh? :lol KUDO'S
-
Just got mine approved today. Know how you feel. I'll burn ya all out on questions, you watch. lol. with any luck anyway.

I know flying more than one kite is a trick in it's self. But other than flat spins, axles, cascades, coin tosses, jacobs ladder, lazy susan's etc.... is anyone out there doing or think that anything else can be done? Dual line that is..... Just curious. I've been outta kiting for 8 years due to a car accident. I'd like to get back to where I was and beyond if possible.
