Got one rung today. As Randy suggested, let the nose drop. I have to almost let it drop vertical with the current settings to get the half lazy. I'm learning. Thanks for the advice all. Hope to get a camera at some point to find out if I just wow my self or not. The Box of Tricks is still a cool kite. Just have to get used to how quick it tricks and recovers all over again. Dean

I hope you feel better soon. Not flying cause of injury sucks. I feel ya. Dean

I'm not complaining at ALL. I just had an idea. When Putting together a tutorial like Randy Greenway's, his video's have already taught my a few things. (Just like Jon B. said they would) The hard time for me is that you can see what the kite is doing, somewhat what the hands are doing. It's all perfect except for my bright idea. On slack line tricks it's hard to see the lines and get a guesstimate on how much slack you need. How about some colored lines? would that work? Yellow, Green, Red or maybe Black? Anyway, thats my idea. Not complaining, just a thought. Dean

I'll keep trying. I started changing bridal settings till I learned the back spin. I've notice some of the other tricks take a little more effort than they used to. So I'll also try moving the bridle back to where I'd normally fly and see if that'll fix the problem. I'd hate to have to relearn something because of a bridle adjustment. Thank you for the advice, I'll be needing alot of it for a while. Dean

Lately I've had to deal with people coming out to watch, which is fine till they sit down under where I'm flying. They always seem to do it when the wind is up a little too. They usually move after I tell them if they get hit with a line under tension it's going to cut like a razor. I cut myself once across my stomach on a trick once so I know it's true. And also at the same park over the last 3 days, these little turds come out and start hitting thier golf balls. Which again is fine. Till they start shooting past you between waist and head level. They just laughed about it till I'd see a ball go flying past, land my kite real quick and go get the ball. When they come up to get thier ball I tell them I've told them about this crap, I'm keeping the ball and to go fly a kite. They've since stopped hitting my way. I did have nightmares back a few years ago about kiting. I was trying to learn how to shoot the kite at myself for a catch indoors. I missed the catch and took the nose of my Synchro across the bridge of the nose. Woke up everyonce in a while after that because in my sleep I kept seeing the kite coming and I could never catch it. Relived the pain over and over. Dean

Now that I can watch Randy G's tutorials and RxBurner gave me a tip on the Lazy I'll be out tomorrow to practice. I wish I could come up with a camera. Today I laid my bridle all the way back with 150# lines in about 8 to 10 mph. I wasn't really trying overly hard on anything so I got into my graceful finese way of flying and really had a HUGE smile on my face all day. Even though the lines kept jumping over the tips on the Half Lazy back into the fade, all I could say was wow. LOL In 30 minutes I had consistant double back spins, the sloppy but pretty attempts at the Jacobs ladder and got the Comete. Well, I can do 2 in a row anyway. These are my favorite days to fly. Everything just flows from one thing to another. The first combo of the day is what got it all started. Half Axle to Fade, Double Back Spin one way then the other right into 3 Flic Flac's to 540 Flat Spin back to the Fade into the first messed up attempt at the Jacobs Ladder back to a 540 Flat Spin to one tip landing. Funny, out of all the years I've owned my kite and been trickin, I've never even thought about setting up the kite and line combos the way I have been lately. But then again I normally flew in 1 to 6 mph winds and these settings would prove to be a little light on lift. Dean

Thank you for the VideoLAN link. Now I have no problems viewing the vids on your site. Now if I can get the Jacobs Ladder. Gotta try throwing my hand to the side instead of strait back for the Half Lazy Susan. Currently when I give the input for the Lazy, my lines jump the tips and I end up back in the fade position. Dean

I'll have to give that a try. I had to lay the kite back with a bridle adjustment to get the back spin. LOL, now I have to relearn the half lazy. Dean

I get into the fade position and get the roll out into the turtle position. But when I give input for the half lazy susan the lines jump the tips and I end up back in the fade position. I mean it's cool and all, but I'm trying something specific. I've walked and ran toward the kite, away from the kite and just stood still. I've let the nose drop and I've kept it flat. But the lines ALWAYS jump the tips back into the fade. Cool combo though, fade, double back spin, roll out to the turtle, jump the lines into another double backspin into a flic flac with a 540 flat spin to single tip stand Dean

You know, it's really been a while since I've been able to get the M's up on my Rev handles. My left wrist doesn't quiet flic like it used to due to the whole arm being broke. I do think I need to really practice. But I think longer handles will be the key. I'm curious about the Gull. Think it's real pretty. But how light is the touch? The key to tricking with dual kites is 4 to 6 inches of QUICK throw to do it's thing in my experience. I started flying 2 X4I's indoors. Course you could do anything with those on 18' lines. The MEFM's really made me feel special though. But outside of the MEFM I don't have alot of experience. I really wanted to (if I'd of bought one too) fly the MEFM Maxi's. Almost 11 feet across. Not trickable, but they were BIG and demanded attention. One handed for me challenged my two handed precision. Even with the M. I'm trying everything I can to get to Lincoln City this month. With any luck since I'm already working on it I'll be in Brookings this year too. Dean

Also looking at Blue Moon, R-Sky, Sky Sports, Prism(kinda), Skyburner and Priemer. Dean

Global economy, I read ya. I really want a new dual kite or the B Series Rev. But I'm stuck too till I get some $ Dean

The M is now an Aussie kite. Mine is a Ray Bordelon original. Louisiana USA. Before Warren McIntoch started making the newer versions. I haven't flown one of the newer ones. But I've been assured that they fly exactly the same. As for being expensive, you get what you pay for and the MEFM is 3 kites in one. In 11 years of owning one I have yet to use all the adjustments and other than wrap tricks, haven't found one that it won't do. Plus you can adjust it to lighten the pull over 20 mph and fly strait lines. One of the most precise kites that'll still trick that can be found anywhere. Dean

Impulse only works once so I hope it flies well or you got it outta your system The video looked cool, but how well you do with it is a different story. Like I typed, I fly a kite no one seems to know about. But the cost keeps me from buying a new one. Once I get new batteries for my camera I'll post a few pictures to show just how WORE OUT my M is. I'm sure no one has taken a kite this far Dean

I fly the M.E.F.M., and no one one this forum seems to know anything about them. And they are the Cadillac of kites. I really hope it does well for you. I'm looking outside USA mainstream to maybe an Eolo or another MEFM. Dean

I hope it flies well. What are you doing buying kites you know nothing about though? Save up and buy something you know will make you happy? Dean

I went bridaless for the first time yesterday. I guess I missed the fair wind post A Rev 1 in a 18mph wind is not a good thing. On the edges it did prove to fly in reverse alot faster. Turns where quicker. But when I'd accidently end up in the wind the center rod flexed a little. LOL, each end of the leading edge actually touched a couple of times. Didn't break a rod or anything. But I decided that a Rev is NOT supposed to fold in half in flight. So that was the end of the Rev yesterday. I think I'll put the bridal back on and use the pig tail method only in lighter winds. Thanks for the photo's when you get them. Depending on the kites your using, you could start out at about 10 mph. Maybe less. On jet ski's though I'm thinking that if someone does go out the back, thats 3 kites lost with lines. So if it's going to happen, start slow and work your way up. Also, for safties sake, make sure your holding the straps with 3 fingers as apossed to around the wrist. And make sure the driver is quick enough to get back around before the kites sink. I'd imagine the lines and straps will sink the fastest. But your risking the kites being towed. More than one could go out the back. As long as they're not your kites and your not the one going out back, you keep all this in mind and you can be the one to say I told you so. Be safe and good winds. Dean

Ever Feel like your alone? I about rule the trick part of this forum. LOL, just a random thought. I was into chat for a while and well this isn't chat. But it is about something I truely love so I guess it's just me. You know......never mind. We wouldn't be up to a chat server on here. Sorry for my addiction. Dean

I was out in about 14mph winds today. I layed my M all the way back to the black setting and finally managed to get into a fade and wolla. Back spin. LOL, now if I can just get it in the NORMAL wind around here. Dean Thanks Mr. Barresi Walking into it worked

Another thing I've learned is that if the trick needs slack in the line, you have to give more slack than normal to make up for the lack of throw. Dean

I did try shock cord for a while. But eventually it'll stretch. But I guess that comes down to the strength of the cord. I only had the original cords for my MEFM tips. They gave that extra pop. But not everything needs that extra pop, so it kinda limits your ability to do somethings. But like I typed, it may depend on the strength of the cord. Dean

Well that was wierd...... one hell of a typo anyway.... I've noticed I don't have the quickness anymore. Or maybe I'm just outta practice. But with the old standard Rev handles I could axle, cascade, flic flac, flat spin... not a problem. I think it came down to how little touch the kite needs to do it's thing, how much throw you have side to side and how quick you could flick your wrist. I have never tried trickin two kites in anything over 10mph. But I will as soon as I get my fathers M fixed. Mostly I like to fly dual kites in winds of 3 to 10 mph. But as soon as I can I'll be back trying. I really think I need longer handles instead of the 10" Rev handles though. Dean

Well Mr. MacEachern

I thought of something like this, only with a quad. I can tell you after stacking and flying 2 Rev 1's, that your going out the back if you try it. I'm so not kidding. And with a quad line you can let all the pull go. 20mph would be pushing your luck, 30, your going out the back. Although, in water sports, when was the last time you heard someone going out the back as apposed to out the front? I too wanna see pictures if you try it. LOL, maybe even post the medical suggestions as to how to recover so anyone else with the idea can learn what not to do if things go crap house. Good luck. Dean
