Hi all, Wanted to give you an update on the theft and return of my kites. The thief (21 yrs. old) is still in jail with 4 counts of theft-1, 2 counts of theft-2 and 3 counts of UEMV (Unlawful Entry of Motor Vehicle). His bail is at $14,000, but he is still in jail. No word yet if and when a trial is set. This is the best news: :P I was talking to a neighbor of mine, who is also a member of the City Council. He told me that last month this case was brought up by the Chief of Police at a city council meeting. The police chief told the city council what had happened and that they had found the kites because of the photo of the bag. There was an arrest and the kites were returned to the victim. My friend told the council "That's my neighbor, and he's very grateful". The police cheif also told them that the kiting community had e-mailed over 50 thank yous and well done letters to their office. My friend said the police chief was very impressed by these responses from all over the US and world. Thank you everyone for your support. I know our police department had no idea of all the kite fliers out there and the support and communication we have with each other! Again I wanted to say thank you and a special thanks to those of you that sent in a response to the police department. I will keep you posted if and when there is a trial.

Is what Watty is showing what you call falling leaf or something similar. I think a falling leaf is when you flic and leave it there and it floats or flutters for a while as it comes down in a horizontal position then flac later to the original hover.

Hi all, Arrived today at LC in late afternoon. Flew outside with Amy & Conner then dinner at Kyllos's. Wind at 8-10mph. Was a little cold but great to fly on the beach again. Tomorrow I think we are going to try a team fly. We will be in front of the Sea Gypsy and the State Park. See you there.

When I started doing some of these tricks and of course they didn't always work. The walk was long. I even watched JB, JD and RX doing the tricks but I still had to do the walk. I found that to do these tricks well it helped to have a name with only two letters Actually I just shortened my lines to 50' and that gave me more time to practice and do less of the walk. Eventually I caught on to the above moves and life is getting better

Thanks Jim They are sometimes unappreciated. But this time they came through with FLYING COLORS I did send them a message and invited them to come fly with me anytime.

They are all Home :) Monday I went to the police department and they brought out MY Kite Bag. I really was not sure if it was going to be mine, but there it was. I went through the bag and could tell someone had been through it, but looked like everything was there. Today I took all the kites out for a wash job and made sure there were no broken parts. The police said it was the photo of the kite bag that really helped. The description was OK, but the photo did the trick. The morning of the theft my wife pulled up a photo from an Internet kite shop of my bag and printed it for the officer. It does pay to have photos of all your stuff. They did arrest a 22 & 23 year old for 4 counts of theft and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle. One was also charged with meth possession and parole violation. Both have bail set at $10,00 & $14,000. They live a couple miles away and were probably going house to house looking for whatever they could find. Anyway thanks for all your support and hope to see you sometime on the beach. I'll be in Lincoln City for their indoor kite festival in a couple of weeks. Thanks again Amy for everything!

Hi All I just got a call from the Medford Police Department. They went out to a domestic disturbance and the cop recognized the Kite Bag from someplace. He went to check (pictures on his computer?) and ended up arresting one and are working on the arrest of the actual one that took it. We have no idea if all the kites are in it…or what condition they are in. He wants me to call him on Monday so he can get the bag back to me and check the contents He said it was the bag that caught his eye in the room in a corner. The pictures I had given them that morning they did the trick. I will update you on Monday. I can breathe a little better. Thanks for your support

Thanks everyone for all your good thoughts and especially to Amy for reducing, cropping, and posting my kite pictures. I'm still adding to my list of other things that were in the kite bag! We've had quite a day of dumpster diving, police reports and pawn shop visits. It's just so very irritating! Thanks for getting the word out. Hopefully we will have good news to report one of these days!

Hi Everyone, I awoke this morning to find my car broken into and the only thing they took was my kite bag. This was a blue New Tech bag with all my kites line sets, extra quad rods just everything. I thought if I listed what kites I had if anyone sees or hears of any of these being listed online for sale you could let me know. Sea Devil Sul White with Blue Wave, REV Std SLE 1.5 Red/Whit Black, REV Vented B-Series Blue /Black, New Tech French Connection Blue/Black, Level One Jump Black/Red, New Tech Fire Storm Red/White/Black, I-nak I also had 5 sets of 50# Quad line sets. 4 sets of 90# Quad line sets, 6 sets of 50# dual line sets, 6 sets of 90# line sets and a 200# & 250# line set, Wind meter and 3 kite stakes (one was a blue marble from Walt), A tube containing quad rods 2 sets of each (2-Wrap, 3-wrap, 4-wrap) There are a few older kites but these were the main things I can remember. Any help would be appreciated I am really going to miss the Rev's and Sea Devil the most. Just flew both Thursday

Hi All, I just completed an order for custom B-Series colors on an Indoor Rev. I do fly a standard and a b-series vented but have never flown indoors. I will be flying at a newer elementary school gym with 25 ft ceilings :confused!: I was wondering about the length of lines as I will be making them myself I have heard from 6ft to 15 ft but was wondering what length would be the best to begin. I was going to use 50# Laser Pro so do I need to do the sleeving as I do with all my out door lines? Thanks for any advice
-
Way to go Andy That clip was mighty fine. I just never know what you will pull out of that never ending kite bag of yours. I am trying to buy an indoor REV but don't like the standard colors they have. Going to ask if they could do the bright neon or something Then maybe you can teach me some indoor techniques????

Well "waiting just makes the heart grow fonder" Tomorrow I am getting out of the 29 degree fog and icy roads for the ocean beach at Lincoln City for three days of non stop flying, flying and more flying. Good luck to all. When Mr random calls my number I hope you don't have to be online to win. No puter for a few days. See you after my sea devil and b-vented get a work out. Dean, I will be in the same place as October if you want to come over. Weather is going to be clear and sunny

Hey John Thanks for the chance Santa My favorite kites are: B series vented with the two wrap frame, I do like the light winds Standard Rev 1.5 White SUL Sea Devil The small but fast "Jump" (This is the one you taught me how to do an axel on two years ago in Crescent City) The French Connection (this only gets air when the winds are above 12mph, that almost never happens where I fly) Yellow C-3 The big Red & Black Firestorm The I NAK (for those no wind days) And various other kites that ride along in my kite bag. I thought about coming up to the New Year's Day fly in Portland but the weather didn't look that promising for a 4.5 hour drive. The weather here was bad also. I am thinking about making the clinic in Long Beach, but will let you know later. Happy New Year from Medford. Oregon

Very Good That made me feel warm all over. I actually would a like a little warm weather about now Anything but snow flakes Thanks again

What a great idea Christine. There are truly a lot of great people in this forum, and you are one of those people. Thank You Congrats to Litsong Merry Christmas & Happy New year to all
-
Hey Dean Did you decide on a kite? When we met in October at Lincoln City I don't remember you flying anything but the REV. I think you did try my SUL Sea Devil but didn't know you were thinking of buying one. Lam was there and I even tried his Fearless UL all Black . I think my next kite will be the Fearless UL cuz it willl go up to 15-18mph. Hope to see you again sometime
-
Hi Zech I also have a French Connection. It does have a lot of parts to tuck away. There are two standoffs on each side and a plastic spreader that attaches over the two standoffs. Just make sure this spreader is removed from each side and they are stored separately in the bag. Do not role up the kite with these two spreaders inside as you may break them trying to role the kite tight enough to get it inside the bag it came in. I did that and had to order new parts. Hope this helps

Thanks John For another great chance to win a Rev. And a Vented I just bought a b vented this summer. I hardly fly my standard Rev any more. It is amazing now that you have one you just want more. Thanks for being our REV SANTA CLAUS
-
Very nice You make it look easy. I have not flown indoors yet. I hope to purchase an indoor REV soon. You mentioned you used 5ft lines for that tutorial. I do fly a REV Std & Vented outdoors but for an indoor beginner what length lines would you recommend? Again very nice job on the tutorial and I can't wait to see you do more. Well done

Hey Ben Is there anything new going on with the Indoor REV? Are there any new colors for o8 /o9?? I am looking to order one and thought you would know.
