  1. Hey Wayne / Rob, There's one over on the GWTW Swap Shop................ EDIT / EDIT (7:50 PM)............Opps!..........The Zen over on GWTW is S-O-L-D...........
  2. Yep, I think the company that was making it, went out of business.............. Occasionally, you might run across someone, that has a few (very limited selection), of the pre-packaged dual line sets, but that's about it.
  3. Yep, that's exactly why I liked "Berry Blue", but I don't think it's available, any longer (Still got a few good sets, though)
  4. My guess, concerning your problem (uncontrolled spin), would be severely uneven lines, or as Scott mentioned, a bottom (brake) line snagged on the bungee, at the bottom of the vertical spar........ Been there, done that ! It's very important that the right & left (top) lines be equal. Also important that the right & left (bottom) lines be equal. Normal flying will create slight differences, in the top set of lines vs the bottom set, but this is easily compensated for, with your knotted leaders. However, it's very important that right & left lines be matched up equally, whether comparing the tops, or the bottoms. Oh, and just because you have new lines, don't just assume that they are perfectly matched. I've seen new lines that were mismatched, by as much as 6 inches. Based on the description of your day, and based on the fact that you were able to go straight up, and back down, some of the time, I'd guess that you had a wrap, as described by Scott, above, when you went into the uncontrollable spirals. (just my opinion) This is also where you can pop a leading edge - when that spiraling Rev meets the ground
  5. I've broken a 3 wrap leading edge crashing at an angle flying at Ft. Pickens in high winds.. Yep, it's usually those, "not quite perpendicular landings", that will do you in............
  6. Definitely depends on the wind, I would say.......... My old 1.5 SLE, is now a "beater" kite, and I still pull it out (with the 7/16" SLE in place), on occassion, but it's got to be really windy......... At 6 - 7 mph, for sure, it's miserable, and I just hate to have to fight the kite, just to keep it in the air.........
  7. No argument here, on the 1/4" regular 3-wrap making for a much better flying experience, BUT, I can promise that on my first day out, I would have broken the smaller leading edge (because I had 15 - 18 mph winds). It's not so much those "high speed, straight into the ground" dives, that will get you, it's the one's that are not perfectly straight down, but at somewhat of an angle. Those are the ones that tend to snap the LE, especially if you're in the process of making an uncontrolled, high speed turn, way too close to the ground. I even watched a "newbie" snap a 7/16" SLE, that way. As for the inevitable crash, great advice, but rather than just stepping forward, and throwing your hands forward, you might also want to RUN forward .....(then you won't have to think about breathing, it'll come naturally)....... and good luck !
  8. Hey Nick............ One last thing............By all means, review the video tutorials, "Line Management" http://kitelife.com/forum/videos/view-41-rev-tutorial-line-management/ and "Assembly and Disassembly" http://kitelife.com/forum/videos/view-40-rev-tutorial-assembly-and-disassembly/ If you only have time for one - memorize "Line Management" - you won't be sorry ! Time VERY well spent, for a first day out........(seriously).........
  9. Shoot me a PM, once you do your evaluation. As I mentioned, I've never used anything but Berry Blue and LPG, and I think that Berry Blue, is now history (?).......
  10. On the Rev forum, there's a member map, I believe! Same here too! John also developed a mapping site for fliers, name escapes me right now, but it also gives some info on where people fly! I'm sure if John or Watty see this, one of them will have more info!! Hey Wayne, or Chris, It's called Kitemap.org http://www.kitemap.org/ Just go there and enter your flying field, or look around and find a spot near you........
  11. Hmmmmm......... I never used anything but Berry Blue and LPG............didn't even know there was a yellow / orange line......
  12. NOT - Now back to FAST & FLAILING !
  13. Yep, but probably not............do you know Photomom & NCKiter ! Photomom is local, NCkiter runs the kite making stuff.
  14. Where the heck do you get "yellow" lines..................
  15. Never heard of anyone, NOT being approved. Must have been some kind of "sign-up", mess-up
  16. I like your nickname over there! Well, I must be Nixter # 1, because that's what everybody calls me...........
  17. Yep.........too bad we aren't closer. I do most of my flying at the coast, but unfortunately, not the Crystal Coast.........OBX mostly !
  18. Kerr Lake............I-85 on the NC/VA line
  19. Didn't see it, till now, but KOOL !
  20. Hear, hear........
  21. Yeah I had zero success with the 30' lines. The soccer complex was kind enough to turn the lights on for me. Yep, if you're just learning, I'd go with the 120 foot lines, also. Where the heck do you live, where a soccer field turns the lights on for you? I'm in NC also............
  22. Try http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5642-b-series-pro-std-december-25th-2013/#entry39360 Sent in PM also...........Good Luck Got it, thanks. I was looking under Current Drawing… Good Luck............(kinda).
  23. Try http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/5642-b-series-pro-std-december-25th-2013/#entry39360 Sent in PM also...........Good Luck
