Kewl Kewl.. John, Hey, I saw the B-Series dvd for the very first time from some friends who picked up a couple. It was awesome. Entertaining too. Glad I finally got to see it. Layangman, are you doing snap turns? When the kite's leading edge is facing right, quck snap to facing left while the kite stays on spot? It's only using one thumb/wrist to turn quck. When you release the kite stops turning. Snap left. Snap right. And Facing 12:00 snap to 6:00. Snap back to 12:00. Check out what your hands are doing in order to make the Rev do this. Moving one thumb down while you turn the other up? Check it out. When you have those turns mastered, and understood, you will be a step closer to the 1/4 or 1/8 turns. You might also want to move your hands forward and back while pushing up and down giving the kite lift. (Hence the bicycle move.) When you move your hand away from you and *bring it back, it gives the kite more lift. When ever you turn the kite- that is when it's at it's heaviest, so giving it the extra lift keeps it from coming down. The bicycle move can be done with small movements in higher wind and larger movements in light wind all depending on how much you bend your wrist and move your body. I remember years ago when we all tried pivoting by pulling on one side of the kite as fast and hard as possible. It pivoted but came down. The secret is to use that "thumb *push~ rotate your wrist "movement more then you do the pull movement. At the same time you are using a forward up on the other side to keep the kite from coming down. So one handle up and one handle down.. don't forget to push forward and back at the same time (away from you and towards you) Kind of like rubbing your head and patting your stomach.. now switch! lol Now brakes, which can be a release.. a release and find pressure...click, click to stop, stop or your hands moved forward to take the wind out of the kite. So many ways to play with it. The long handles won't help unless you have trouble bending your wrist. They would make the turns quicker. Keep more pressure on your thumbs to slow your speed down on the 1/4 turns. too. Like John said.. practice. Now someone else might say it in your words.. Rev on~ BB Penny ~who is to excited about vacation and such! WSIKF~

I've got the buggy blues. I've decided to leave my buggy behind for WSIKF. I have 11 days of vacation and my trip usually includes a day trip to Sunset to buggy, but with Sept. events picking up, I've decided to play it safe.... darn it.. and not chance pulling a muscle till after Sept. I'll probably have to miss SOBB too. So Sad! The rest of you buggiers, please have enough fun for me too. Sunset Beach Bum Buggiers rule the road at the edge of the Sea......... BUGGY ON. BB Penny~who does like to be a powder puffer with her buggy and Super Blast.

I usually have a jar opener with me.. A small piece of flat rubber to get a grip with. Sometimes..they get packed that way. BB Penny

Loved the pictures.. Tell them hello. And ask Steve to tell Rita and Jake hello. It's always good to see them. I've got lots of good stories to share about Steve. Steve is one of those flyer's who can fly with lines the wrong length of lines and not even know it.. He just makes the kite do what he wants. Nice to hear your story. Tell everyone hello. BB Penny ~who's playing with grandkids and packing for WSIKF~

Spence I can't wait to see you fly inside! You better have more then one demo for inside ready. BB Penny ~Who hopes to be flying at the Ryder Cup In Kentucky in Sept.

Safe journey Litsong.. I think you should be the one giving us tips. How do you travel to kite festivals with just 2 bags? How do you plan your agenda? I'll be excited to hear your stories. BB Penny ~who's thinking 9 more days till my road trip! -
Ouch.. A sad loss, but a good laugh.. Are we warped? lol Thanks for the story. BB Penny

I can't see it well enough.. Is it a Rok, or a spinner or something that is suppose to be on the post? Usually when I see a kite in a tree, or stuck anywhere, I smile.. I think of what they must have been doing prior to the tangle and the challenge to get it out. I think of skits, cartoons, demo's of kites stuck. Or I think about all the times in the past.. that my kite might have got stuck somewhere. BB Penny ~ who''s never been stuck in a power line.. Thank you God.

If you can keep me still long enough, I'd love a massage. lol Tips? Deoderant, toothpaste and Fabreeze.. I'm so excited I'm starting to dance in the halls... I better get some indoor flying in to release some energy. See you soon! BB Penny ~ who misses Sharon. -
Thank you Dave. It's so much fun.. much more fun to do then to watch. Gosh, I'm smiling just thinking about it.. Lam and I are two of a few people that fly the 1.5 inside.. but in the competition you're talking about I was actally flying the Indoor Rev. I love putting the indoor in people's hands. At 5 years old.. they do remarkable. 65 years old.. they do remarkable, too. It's ageless. The indoor isn't for winds over 2mph. You would do best to get the 1.5 first... unless money is not a concern.. then get both. It will be fun, easy and challenging with wind. With no wind, it will be fun, challenging and easier~everytime you go back. It's well worth the effort. Check out Spence (Watty's) indoor video. He's only been flying indoor for about a year and a half. The indoor is easier, some get it right away, some have to work harder at it. I wasn't a natural. Spence makes it look effortless. You can fly this kite! BB Penny~wh's thinking.. now go fly a kite! eeemm hemm a rev~

Hey Litsong, Be careful, you might get more food then you can eat in exchange for those massages. I have a problem getting off the beach to eat.. or do anything besides fly. My birthday is Monday..the 25th and my husband and friends wanted to have a get together at camp Sat. night. I told them to have a good time... because I'm NOT leaving the beach Sat. night. There are auctions, banquets, indoors, all sorts of kite flying events that will keep me off the beach in the evenings... and twilight is my favorite time to fly. So, come on down to our territory Sat. to say hello if you don't make it to the Auction. I'd bring you food..if I get some. BB Penny -

I can possibly be at O.S. on Sat. w/ the tent, Litsong. I can't promise it yet. Looking forward to sharing 10 days of soft sand with you two. BB Penny -

We had a wonderful kite picnick this weekend at Orting's Lion Field at the base of Mount Rainer. Yup, it was a fun weekend.. with mostly no wind. You should have seen the 3 year old fly an indoor Rev, but his older brother, all of 5 didn't want to quit for some time. Of course the adults tried.. and the kids made it look easy. I have these pictures of in my mind of Jamie, and Cody and Zelda laughing while they are learning on the Rev. Aww, I'm exhausted... time to shower and curl up on the couch with Steve. He was hoping to see John and Lynn Madison but they left right before he got there---to bad----he brought wind. I heard a neat thing. The young man who bought a Rev off of Ebay... (not from around here) only to find it was a rev knockoff. Not Revolution Equipped at all. Ben, at Rev's told him to send it in and he would replace it with a real Rev. Which they did. It was the young man's father and mother who had come to fly with us. They were totally impressed with Rev.. Small world... and great product service. They added some nice stuff to the festival.. We had a colorful club mass assension and a dual line mega demo. I'm headed down.. Lots of fun no wind flying. Rory... not bad.. BB Penny TWO WEEKS TIL LONG BEACH! WSIKF!

Hi again, OMG.. you were gone 20 years? Well, Rev's came out 20 years ago.. but they hadn't taken over the kite world yet, I guess. They did win a few awards for it's invention though. Rev is short for a Revolution kite.. which is a *4 string kite using two handles giving it brakes, reverse and speed control in any direction. Fly as slow as youlike, or as fast as you can. Stop and hold it for as long as you like.. and there is wind. Way KEWL! Nothing like it! It has revolutionized the stunt kite world. 5 Year olds to 105 can fly this. OK... inhaul line?... lol, I guess they had to name the lines ,or this is probably the bridle. to technical for me.. I'm just a kite flyer. I have top lines and bottom lines on my Rev. Keep it simple. A trailing edge would be the back wing.. or back of the kite... I'm guessing here. lol I can give you a 3 minute kite lesson on a Rev, and have you flying, but I can't tell you who's calling what a yoke. Ok, now some serious kitefliers should jump in here. Keep asking questions... we'll find someone who knows the answers. BB Penny~ flying like she means it for the fun of it. (BB means Best Breezes--though no wind is great for Rev flying too.) www.myspace.com/penny_lingenfelter - What is a "Rev"? also - What is an inhaul line? - What are outhauls? - What and where is a yoke? - What is a Dynamic Bridle as opposed to a normal bridle? - What is a trailing Edge Oh and I like your definition for Kite Police... sounds like my brother, he would always say you can borrow my kite but whenever I would he'd be there 10 minutes deciding it was his turn. Technically we both paid for it so it was our kite we all know how that turns out LOL Thanks for all your guys help so far.

Sorry, I don't have an answer Patrick.. How is it working with your Rev II? BB Penny -
They have probably already been molded. Yeah, we'll have to mob Ron. BB Penny

Mouth breathers = People who are looking up at kites going... oooohhh... awwwww while they trip over all the lines on the field. Kites certainly have thier own jargon. Bridles, = The line connected to the kite like a bridle on a horse.. You lead it around with this and it spreads the pressure around on the kite. Adjustments= This can be knots moved around on the kite bridle or leaders. Leaders= Hmm, the line that is connected from your handle to the kite... unless some call the line from bridle to line that can be adjusted. Leading Edge= The long front/forward part of the Rev. Wind window=How far from right to left and up and down the wind will allow you to fly. In competition it's important to use as much of it as you can. Wind edge, To the edge of the wind right, left or above. Stake=What you carry to poke into the ground and hang your handles on so the kite doesn't get blown away. (very helpful to have one of these) Lines,= Your Kite string. 90 x 90 would be 90 ft. by 90 lbs. or vise versa... 90 lbs is the measure of stress the line can take. equalize = Makiung your lines the same length. Stand offs=Parts of the kite that hold it's shape. noks and caps= Connectors that attach to the spars. Spars = Kite poles or sticks. Ballast= Kite weight so it will do tricks. Tricks= moves the kite can do besides laying on the sky and flying. Kite police= Who they send after you when you fly someones kite or buggy to long... Time to get your own. not to mention Kite moves. Inverted= upside down. Slide turns= The kite stays in postion, but slides around.. so facing up ^ it would stay like that while it slid in a circle. My post sometimes end up being just gibberish as I get side tracked, but I remember one that John wrote that even made me go.. huh? What did he just say? We have to be careful with out lingo. It's a quick answer and there will be more following. Give us some that make examples that make you go hmm? BB Penny ~ who says welcome back to kiteflying.

Yup..... he caved. I've flown with box fans like 3 x 3 .. Not easy, not fun, and very limited..... ewwwww fans. BB Penny

PCKA is holding their kite festival in Orting, WA the first weekend of Aug. Now, here is the pin that Ron designed. I love the top of it. lol The bottom? When I asked Ron about it, he said he just gave up answering people's questions.. I told him he caved. What do you think? BB Penny

I'm sorry to hear that. What is a rip stick? Hopefully the list of items that turned up missing at the kite festivals would be very small. I hope he finds his stick. How sad. BB Penny
