    Wow, I stink!

If you don't have someone to teach you, try purchasing the DVD" Freestyle Pilot". It isa very helpfull ,from doing basic things like launching and landing to some advanced stuff. You should be able to get it at any kite store. I think it runs about $19.99. It's well worth it. Also, I think that once you can control the kite, you will find that lighter winds will be better to learn in. Gives you more time to respond with the slower movement of the kite.. HAVE FUN ! Steve
  2. Wish I could. Have not been to a festival that I didn't have a great time ! Have to work a few months out of the year though. Steve
  3. Yes it is, Thank You. I check out the forum a few times a day. Great seeing you in Brookings ! Steve
  4. Windchasers Un Festival for sure ! Don't know if I can swing WISKIF or not. Semi Retired only means that you work harder for alot less money! I do make my own schedule though, and my boss is a great guy!! Look me up at Crescent City If you come. Steve
  5. Give it a chance. Wait for about 10 MPH winds, and you will have a great time. The difference btw the stock frame and the 2 wrap is like night and day. The 2 wrap frame will work well with the EXP as well. The vented kite doesn't have much pull, something I'm getting used to. Steve
  6. Don't mess with the sail!!!!! Get a two wrap frame!!!! I have flown my vented with the 2 wrap in about 6mph and it worked. A little work, but with my skill level ( Limited as it may be ) it was good. Can't wait for 10!!! Don't mess with it. Steve
  7. Pretty sure they should all be " Professional use only " Sticks. You might want to show someone at your kite store. Steve
  8. If you don't want to go to a 2 wrap frame, just order an EXP leading edge and pack the SLE away for a real windy day. That will lighten the kite quite a bit and still give you some durability for those unplanned landings. Steve
  9. Hi. Go to www.revkites.com and you can see the Sedgwick Rev 1s. Yes they are still available. I got one about 6 months ago with the Two Wrap Frame. Great Kite. I'm glad I got it. Steve

J.D. Way to go! Hope to see you at the next Fun Fly. Steve
  11. Happy "B" Day. Getting to be an old man I see. Even noticed Eye Glasses in a recent picture ! First the Eyesight, then the hearing then ?????????? Keep flying see ya soon Trish and Steve
  12. Why is everyone wasting their time with all this pre drawing swordplay? "THE KITE IS MINE" I said it before , you guys don"t deserve it ; so I'll have to take it to teach you a lesson ! Steve
  13. Hi Welcome to the forum. The 1.5 SLE leading edge is very big and heavy. It is very stiff as well. I put the EXP leading edge in my 1.5 and found the kite to be more flexable and seems to handle more gracefully. I can fly in most winds, but the bigest advantage to the smaller leading edge is flying in lighter winds. The Two wrap frame should only be used for very light wind, like 0 to 5mph. needless to say it is very fragile. I keep my SLE leading edge around for heavy winds and will use it on my vented 1.5 if needed. I don't like wind above about 8 or 10. Hope this helps Steve
  14. PLEASE, PLEASE DON"T MARKET YOUR T SHIRT ! Not a good idea. Kiting is a family sport, not a trip to see the Oakland Raiders. You do sound like "RAIDER FAN" Bad Bad Bad Idea ! Steve
  15. Now children "BE Nice" none of you deserve it , with all that bickering back and forth. So I'll take it to teach you a lesson "BE NICE" ! Steve
  16. John Make it a Two Wrap and I'm in. That's your fault! You know what the wind is like here. How about letting the winning bidder decide which frame they like. Steve
  17. Hi Stick to the 1.5. It's much more versitile, and will teach you all you need to know about Quads. It has pleanty of power and can be depowered just by moving your hands down on the handles. It will be very frustrating trying to learn on a kite that has too much power. Watch the instructional CD over and over. It has lots of good info, but the best info I have seen comes from this Forum. Also, I have purchased kites from Costal Kites, and they were very reliable. Good Flying Steve
  18. John Count on Trish and I for $100.00. Am writing the check now and sending it off Saturday. Let's see if we can get you a new one. Steve
  19. I had that problem with my 1.5 at first. I ended up super gluing the washers to the end caps. Better yet, change to an EXP leading edge ! No need to change end caps or anything. Then save your SLE for heavy wind days or for someone who has never flown before.
  20. Great job covering this event. You guys made me want to be there. You also gave me a greater appreciation for the lighter winds we have here in Southern Oregon. Keep up the great work! Steve
  21. Thanks for the advise, but it sounds like you are describing the "Bicycle" spin. what I am trying to do is spin the kite on it's axis with a clicking motion, like the clicks ov the second hand. I am using your method though. Every bit of help I can get is greatly accepted. Thanks again
  22. I was probably working too hard ( Running too fast for the wind ) but now that I know I can do it the style will come. Do you have anything in print that describes the Clockwork turns ? Brookings is looking better and better every day !
  23. Thank you John ! I re-read you article on light wind flying, went down to Sporthaven Beach where the field is only about eighty feet and then you get wet. Took out my Rev 1 and started flying in about 3mph wind. I found myself about to get real wet, flipped the kite over: went into a side slide and took off. Success ! My first 360 ! So I kept it up. Lots of fun ! I screwed up once when I forgot where I was and stopped at the top ow the wind. Not bad for an old man ! Now I need to get some Clockwork turns in. I couldn't have done this today without reading that article again.. Thanks
