Being that you're in Europe, a Prism kite is probably going to cost you as much as a really great kite from one of the high-end manufacturers like Benson. http://bensonkites.com/kites/index.html If you want a kite that will fly in very low wind, including indoors, the Inner Space probably can't be beat, unless you're looking to do all the tricks. The design and quality of a Benson kite will knock your socks off if you're used to Prism kites. Not that Prisms are bad, I have over a dozen of them, but Bensons are a big step up. There are plenty of other European kites... like the ones from 'Kitehouse' or SportKiteDesign. http://sportkitedesign.se They might be a little bit more, but these are hand made custom kites that will last you the rest of your life. Works of art that you could hang on your wall when you're not flying them...

Yeah, look at that, your's changed ! I wouldn't know what to title myself as... Have to think about that one. So yeah... B2s to the NorthEast... yeah, that's it !

Wink & a nod... I know you guys will be great at whatever comes next ! Looking forward to meeting you Kitelifers in Wildwood this spring. We'll be there Thursday-Sunday. Condo set, just have to put in my time in the company calendar !

If you look through the posts, I think you'll notice that the titles are pretty random... maybe RNG does have something to do with this... C'mon lucky 259... Daddy needs a new set of kites !

John... read these couple of lines over. You do realize what I thought you were going to say next... These things happen. In 2005 we were going down a path of a big life change, and had to reverse course. Something we really wanted to do, but realized it wasn't such a good idea after all. It was certainly deflating at the time, but we found a different direction to go (one year later), and I couldn't be happier now. This will work out for the better. You'll see... ~Rob.

No, you missed the Sweet Emotion... that was last month !

I'm just recovering from 5 broken ribs, a broken back & bruised lung. I was back out, trying to fly inside of a month. That was my main concern... when will I be able to fly again !

I like the way you lit the Rev logo. It should be really interesting to see in motion. How many lights can you get on a kite before the weight becomes too much ? I'm think a full sail Rev in a good wind could lift a lot of lights and still be sort of controllable. My kids have some annoying toys that have really bright, blinking, multi-colored LEDs. Little bouncing balls & jewelry... I wonder if they would miss those toys if I adapted them for flight...

Well, you will learn faster if you concentrate on left is counterclockwise and right is clockwise. Left and right as kite directions change depending on the orientation of the kite. Clockwise and counterclockwise remain the same. (This good deed will surely influence the RNG to pick #833.) Pete, the unfortunate thing about it is, the more I think about something, the more twisted up I get. It's not just right & left, if you say top wind & bottom wing, that automatically gets confused, too. Clockwise & Counterclockwise, instant confusion. If I don't think about what I'm doing, it usually turns out the best... Wayne, I can't even imagine how hard it is to have to re-learn stuff for a second time. I have the utmost respect for your attitude & accomplishments. Dyslexia is something that I've always had, although it gets in the way, it isn't a sudden obstacle that had to be overcome... for me it's just the way things are. Maybe that's why the upside-down hover is easy for me ?

Looking forward to some pictures & video ! -
Renewed AKA membership... check ! (mostly because of my faith in the new leadership) Bought tickets for everyone in my family... check ! Fingers crossed... check ! I've been wanting to try one of those new ZeroGs, and both my Zephyr and 4D could use to be replaced.

No, I need a 4 line kite that I can fly in less than 10mph. Then my transition to the 'dark side' will be complete... Not that they won't fly in less than 10mph, BUT Rob, you are going to want to fly these babies when the wind is "cooking" !! (if you get my drift.............) Yeah, you guys are probably right... If I don't win these, I will be looking for a full sail 1.5 with black race rods. Nothing for nothing, I did notice on the Rev site that the B2 standard has a wind range of 2-12mph. The last thing I want to do is fly fast, though. I'm a S-L-O-W flyer, I need time to think... (left is right, right is left... dyslexia and kite flying are a challenging combination !)

You would get the most by selling the kites individually, but it would take more of your time. It looks like you have about $100 worth of lines, maybe a little more. The ADX, Mojo, Shiva, and STX 2.3 are each worth a little over $100, while the Pheonix, iNak, Tram, and STX 1.8 are worth around $100, and the rest are worth $50-$75. This is considering that they are in good or better condition. They're all nice kites, but not really kites that fetch a lot on the used market. If you bundled them all together and sold them on eBay (for example) started the bidding at $1, I would expect them to fetch maybe $400-$600. Keep in mind, they will cost ~$50 to ship all together, or $10-$15 individually. Also, the bag might be worth ~$30-$50. Good luck... and by the way, there are a few local flyers in your area, they fly at Samuel S. Lewis State Park. Maybe they can help you sort them out better than me from pictures...

I almost bought one on the used market recently. I think some retailers, like Gone with the Wind may still have some in stock. They weren't terribly popular, I don't think they were very trickable. It's still a rush to fly a big kite like this, even if you're just flying patterns and doing tip stabs. Good luck finding one, and if big kites are your thing, you could look around for a New Tech Firestorm on the used market. They're hard to find, but they're not only big, but you can get them to do tricks. I just took a look at ITTW, they don't list the Apollo anymore, but they do have this... http://www.intothewind.com/shop/Stunt_Kites/Power_Kites/Mirage_XL Good luck in your quest to find a big wing !

There's no reason that I can think of to take them off. If you get a kite and the stops aren't installed (but included), don't feel like you should have to put them on. I have a few kites that I never bothered to install the stops, I never intended to roll them up.
-
Hey JP, They say a picture is worth 1,000 words so... They're used to catch the lines when you roll the kite up, then let it unroll. Do some searching on youtube for 'sport kite' or 'stunt kite' to see them in action. Or... @ 19 seconds... http://youtu.be/QosbyXBfbJk

OK, if these kites are going to a young dude, my son has never flown a quad. You might have seen him flying a SLK with purpose in the video that I posted the other day, and he can fly dual lines... now's the time to save him... lure him to the dark side while he's still young.

A way to cheat ? Buy two subscriptions... you wouldn't be the first, though.

I said this elsewhere, but it seems like a potential start of a business. It looks like they exceed expectations, and if it allows me to fly & trick after work in the short days of the winter, sign me up ! ~Rob.

It takes a lot of patience to fly with the kids, and it's not very relaxing. But totally worth it, because they seem to enjoy it. They ask to come out flying more & more. My daughter wandered into my son's flying space, and that's why I had to cut the video short... to go and get her out of the way. It would be easier with more adults on the field, that's for sure !

The wand itself is ~30 inches, and there is a winder on the end, so you can vary the amount of line that you let out. It can also be varied while you're flying, you fly with one hand, and manage line with the other. You can see most of the wand in the picture that I posted on the first page... -

Try flying your gliders with a wand... it's much more civilized... -
Hey all.... I found some people to fly with this week, my kids wanted to get out and fly some. Too bad it was so cold, as the session didn't last too long. Mick was flying his well used Prism Stowaway Diamond, it's been his goto SLK for the last 3 years. It's kind of beat up, but still flies OK. I need to sew the nose, because the spine has poked through from too many nose dives into the not-so-soft sand. Both him & his sister took a turn at flying the Kitelife Ghost Delta, but it was kind of tough for the little ones to hold onto, as the wind was pretty brisk. Bailey was flying her snowflake for a while, but she got tired so we staked it down. You'll see all three kites in the video. Hopefully we'll be able to get more kites out the next time, providing the weather is better. ~Rob. http://youtu.be/8KVc5zawVRA
