(yet) Friends of mine are like many people that have been flying Rev.'s for over 4 years and don't feel the word "beginner" is a fitting title. They have never competed, so they are not ranked as; novice, experienced, etc. I would rate them as novice -to – experienced, since they don't feel they can hold a reverse diagonal up in one direction. (We're going to look at the kite, but since it works otherwise I just think it's the pilot not being firm enough.) Lots of people will fly Rev's 100 hours over time, but aren't ranked. Is a “rookie” appropriate? I thought that was a one year ranking in competition. Anyone have any ideas? BB Penny ~not calling friends beginners. Quote

Only othe folk I know of that are called after Revs are a chap called Sedgewick and another guy called Barresi, never met the one but if he is half as nice a guy as the other he is worth meeting. If you are one who flies a little, soon you will be one who flies a lot...... Trust me. As far as competition, some do, some don't. Some are very serious competitors, some only compete on occasion for fun. Lynn and I fall into the latter. We competed at WSIKF, but only in the events that were not for points. Not being serious about formal competition, I would not want to enter an event, and by some strange stroke of luck, get some points that a serious competition flier would otherwise get. Hey...we're all part of this fun family, and what fun it is. For Lynn and I this is really becoming an "E" ticket* ride. Jim * For those of you who don't know what an "E" ticket ride is, when Disneyland opened in 1955, they sold books of tickets. Each book contained "A", "B", "C", "D", and "E" tickets. The "E" tickets got you on the more exciting rides. When Sally Ryde, our first woman in space, was asked what she thought of her ride on the space shuttle, she said "That was and "E" ticket ride." You must be pretty good. Yup. I guess it's the advanced moves they don't have down. Reverse and brakes everywhere. I'm staying away from intros.
