Doesn't look like a trick kite, but the battened wingtips hint that it might cut good corners...

Big Kites Rock !

Heya Hoodoo, sorry to say I've never heard of that model... Any idea who makes it?

And... Cost, framing, sail material? :)

Looking at the url where that picture came from, it's a discontinued kite by New Tech. Price is shown as $159 for the Maxima, and $164 for the Vortex.

The info is found on the bottom of this page:

http://www.foreverfl...om/newtech.html

I also found an old Kite Lines article in our archive that talks a decent bit about it. The segment begins on page 14 of the Kite Lines issue found here:

From what I can tell, the Maxima and Vortex are the same kite, with a different panel layout. Sounds like a big kite that pulls. Wind range from 4-25mph-ish. Sounds like a sturdy build too.

I really like my old New Tech Firestorm. It's also 10' across, but geared for tricking rather than power flying...

Good luck with you new big wing !

Well, I really like mine. Never heard back from HD about how it flew. Maybe it was too hot for flying in Texas this summer...

@ Dust- It flies like a tank and has some pull to it as well. I've had it for a couple of months but was unable to fly it until recently.

@ Must86- While it was INDEED too hot to fly most of the time, I was able to get some time in on my other kites...BUSTED rods on 2 of my 3 trick kites. But I have a couple of tricks in my bag now. I guess I'm just waiting to fill a "big" order at Goodwinds.com

Breaking is part of flying. I guess you figured out that's why you have more than 1 kite. Kite flying season starts in 2 weeks here... can't wait !
