SparkieRob Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 Curious to know how long your lines are for some "urban kiting". Quote
Spence Watson Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 Yep, same here. 30' x 90# is my most common street set. On occasion, I might pull out something closer to 15' if space it tight. Quote
rexracer Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 I also fly on 30'x90# when space is tight. I had a 20', 90# set that I flew in a river "canyon" last year. Gets pretty hyper when the wind picks up. I chopped them up to make a stack, though. Just made a couple of 50# sets (30' and 50') and I may re-make the 20' set in 50# LPG. Don't really get to do much "urban" kiting here since the winds swirl so much. I'm always willing to give it a shot, though! Quote
Wayne Dowler Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 I don't do a bunch of street flying, but when I do, it's on 30'!! Stay flying my friends!! Quote
Mark Thorn Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 I have 15' to 40' in 5' intervals. I fly 30' so much, I have dedicated a kite and handles with the lines wound on the handles for rapid deployment. I'm always in search for new placce to play. LPG is prefered (less slack line macrame) More later, I'm at Alki to short line now M 1 Quote
mystainedskin Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 I run 30+/- 90# lpg. I made some 50# 30'...but as "OATS" pointed out one day....it tends to knot up easily in the slack line situations . Quote

John Barresi Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 For urban Rev kiting, I'm generally on 30' x 50# LaserPro Gold. Quote
SparkieRob Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 For urban Rev kiting, I'm generally on 30' x 50# LaserPro Gold. At that length, does #50 have an advantage over #90? If so, what are they? I do realize opinions vary, so post them all. Quote
John Barresi Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 50# = nearly zero drag, a bit more stretch, tangles easier if you don't mind your lines. 90# = slightly more line drag, no stretch, less prone to tangling due to thickness of the line. I like the immediacy of the 50#, direct connection with the kite. Anyone else? Quote
Wayne Dowler Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 My 2 short sets (50' + 30') are both 50#. On that short length, I don't notice the stretch that much! And the lighter line seems to work better for me in light wind! IMHO! 1 Quote
