DeafThunder
for example ... single, dual, quad, parasail, harness, etc ... Stunt kite Speed kite Ballet Kite .... ETC ETC ETC ... My favorite ... ... power kite (more like traction, then hanging time ... but nothing racing) Power kite got many definition : 2 handles with 2 strings, 2 handles with 4 strings, turbo bar, traction, speed, hanging, with or without harness etc etc etc I am trying to determine and understanding the "total" different between kites. Speed power kite is made for racing or high speed chase, while traction power kite is made for pulling, not referring to power sled kite that I just learned few days ago on this forum and google afterward ... Is there a comprehensive "KITE" dictionary online ?
makatakam
Google "kite types" and click on the Wikipedia listing. That should keep you busy for quite some time. You can also visit your local library. They may have some of the items listed in the Wikipedia bibliography section.

I did not use the word "types" ... thanks for the tip (additional) it sure did keep me busy for quite some time ... it did not even mention about quad line Kite or 4 line kite ... just found it Revolution kite or Rev kites(four-line revolution stunt kites by Joe Hadzicki) with spell out 4 and a dash .... four-line ... not 4 line ([110][292][293] are dead link ... and [294][295] are live link) ... got any more ? NewbieFrank
Gee...I was hoping for a dictionary that defined and/or described what a constitutes a "Jacobs Ladder," "Coin Toss," and the myriad of other tricks you folks talk so eloquently and familiarly about. I have no clue - but I do have a burning desire to know. So...is there such a repository of information - even something like a judges rules that describe the requirements of each of these maneuvers would be exceedingly helpful. Perhaps these tricks aren't even relevant to me since I'm flying a two line sport kite ATM (Prism Nexus). Do those trick names describe maneuvers which are restricted to four line kites? RobB
These channels on uToob should help to get you started with anything stunt-kite related. The next Prism kite you get ( Hypnotist or E3 ) should come with the Prism DVD, which includes video explanations of most of the tricks. https://www.youtube.com/user/DPmama74/videos https://www.youtube.com/user/Doddtunes/videos https://www.youtube.com/user/prismkites/videos

John Barresi
One more for the pile... https://vimeo.com/album/1622897 I used Randy Greenway's tutorials a lot when I transitioned from old school to new school dual line flying in 2004.

I like this trick "Insane" ... how I like it when it looks like a crash and burn spinning toward to ground then TAKE OFF toward to the SKY ... that is really cool !!! ... and love the step by step precisely and freeze picture to grasp the idea each movement ... Well done, Randy Greenway ... I am sure it is easier to explain the tutorial on a dual line than on a quad line ... I love quad line, because I love difficulty challenges !!! I love that JB's Bicycle Traveling in a circle or stairway line ... it will takes me DAYS to master it, maybe couple month top to get it right ... I got couple very short bicycle traveling by accident, but I did not pay attention "how to do that" !!! (facepalm) ... LOL
