  1. I know @mirecat has some time on the Hydra, maybe he can provide some insight? Otherwise, reach out to Fortuna Forms on Facebook (same designer).
  2. I don't know anything resolute but it appears that @stapp59 is indeed making limited numbers of the Solus for Skyburner to sell now along with a new Widow Maker prototype, and Jon is sewing Pro Dancer SUL sails. General read is that things are slowly coming back online, albeit maybe not at the same volume... @Flight Risk (Brett) may also have some good info on all this.
  3. Some shops are flexible with the cost they list on the customs form, might be worth an ask.
  4. Still for sale, or sold?
  5. For quad, those color codes should be... Black (only) - bottom left Black (w/red) - bottom right White (only) - top left White (w/red) - top right Black is bottom, red is right, typically. Hard to tell from the pic, but if the lineset was indeed meant to be a split of 200# and 300#, the heaviest lines should be on top since the brake lines just don't generate as much power.
  6. Very nice. "Leading with the brakes", try re-focusing your hands *just* slightly lower than your elbows when you make your sideways or inverted inputs, this will favor pressure in the center of the handles, more balanced into the bottom lines, less hard tilt into the top lines (which results in forward flight + loss of pressure). The tell when looking at the video is a sense of "holding your hands up", or "holding the kite up with your hands"... After a while, your hands should spend most their time in front of or just above your solar plexus.
  7. Update - 73 tickets sold thus far, just 27 left to hit the reserve. Thanks all!

  9. The pilot in that video is Dave Shenkman, owner of Kite Connection shop on that same pier (insured and trusted businessman in Huntington Beach) and veteran pilot / instructor / school demonstrator of over 30 years. Less dangerous than standing at a busy corner while waiting for the walk sign, but only if you're dealing with a master pilot. I've been "up to the elbow" in people multiple times over the past 26 years, both professionally and recreationally - I have never, ever had an injury. But I also don't dive stop as hard or as close to folks as he did in that video, which is the real danger... When the kite is hovering (not in motion), it's not generating any power or velocity. Regardless, not for amateurs.
  10. Oh, the humanity. lol Bring on the kids!

  14. I think I use approximately 10' 6" lines, I eye-balled them when I cut down from 12'.
  15. We even had some past Grand Champion kites on display... This one from @Jose Sainz.
  16. Such was the reinvigoration of the AKA this year, they even included two excellent SOCIAL MEDIA workshops for folks to better understand how to use (and wield) it!
  17. Grand Champion this year in kite making... Photo by @Scott Skinner...
  18. Sport kite results, championships...
  19. Lots of photos posted by Michael Allen.
  20. Live feed from the awards banquet... I got to present an award at 44:02 in the second video.
  21. Just finished up at the 2016 AKAGN, had an AMAZING week with a totally reinvigorated organization of kitefliers from all over the country and some of the world. Lots of posts on Facebook using the #AKAGN hashtag, so it's pretty easy to find live updates, awards video, photos and other footage from the event - many should work even without a Facebook login. Feel free to post the URL of some of your favorite AKAGN images for eye candy here on the forum. Next year we'll be in Ocean City MD, hope to some of you there.
  22. Hope y'all enjoy...
