  1. For those of you that don't know, much of the spam you might receive can often be generated by "bots" or "spiders" that go through web sites and farm email addresses that are amidst the text... So, I heartily recommend that anyone posting their email address on a web site or forum use some sort of encoder (there is an extension on the Dreamweaver site to do this automatically for your web pages), or format like this: webmaster(at)kitelife.com webmaster-at-kitelife.com webmaster at kitelife.com Or any similar version that is still interpretable by HUMANS reading it. I mention this after seeing a few signatures on our forum with the email address included and formatted normally.
  2. Keep on trying! As long as you're buying...
  3. Some people head out to Broughton Beach along the river by the airport too... Team Invisible Wind and David Brittain used to practice there back in the day. The sand has the odd habit of sucking the "glimmer" out of new sails though, so be wary... A bit narrow too, but flyable.
  4. What, me speak German? Nah, try this: http://www.systransoft.com/
  5. Hehehehe... Good one Frogman. Sorry to say, I won't be there... But if anyone cares to do a little write up and get a bunch of photos, we'll be happy to review it for publishing in an upcoming issue.
  6. As long as I can get transpo with one of you guys from Long Beach and back, I'm game for ill-wacko... Any takers?
  7. Howdy gang... We've added quite a few new items to our store, organized it for easier browsing, and there are a few items on sale as well... I'm not sure when the prices will go back up, CafePress sets the sales: Kitelife Logo Men's Sleeveless Tee (John's personal favorite!) Kitelife Logo Jr. Spaghetti Tank Kitengruven Jr. Spaghetti Tank A few hats... Plus, Frisbees and BBQ Aprons. Additionally, use coupon code K95JBNR and you should receive $4 off any order of $25 or more... Expires 6/28/04!
  8. I just got an email from "Nowak" guiding me to his site... http://home.arcor.de/g.nowak/html/kiting-cartoons.html
  9. A ham indeed... Your domain is registered for two years as I recall, but all hosting plans are yearly. My records say your package was set up Sat Apr 17 12:49:55 2004. Carl's on November 13th, 2003.
  10. Hehehehe... Hey, I'm up for anything. Never do forget, do you?
  11. Well, we just might have to keep our "merrymaking" to some of the other after hours parties, of which there will be many I am sure... I have to say, it will be nice to finally meet some of you face to face for the first time... Even sober! Thursday Eve, the 19th... Starting 8-8:30pm, at the park. Just look for the Kitelife banner, many of the fliers attending WSIKF should know where it is if you should need directions. (unless someone can rally up a map, or post directions here)
  12. Also, forum issues have been resolved.
  13. Heads up gang... We just lowered out hosting rates by roughly 30%-60%, so both new and existing customers will receive an even greater value now. Those already hosted with us will have the new rates effective on their renewal dates. http://www.hostplay.net
  14. Everything is back in happy land guys, my server staff continues to amaze me with the hours they are willing to spend with me... And most of all, their sincerity in service. Please carry on!
  15. Just an idea... Ya'll should include your web site URLs in your signatures! You can do so here: http://kitelife.com/forum/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=22 You can use any of the codes there as well such as , , etc.
  16. Want to know where I cut my teeth back in the day? Cesar E. Chavez Park, otherwise known by the locals as North Waterfront Park, in Berkeley California... During the summer there are consistant 10-20mph winds, and tons of room for everyone to fly any kind of kite... Even the big stuff! If you're ever passing through, make sure you stop by and check it out!
  17. Sorry to do this to you Llamadude... Rick, all of our packages have the same services available... If there is something you need there, discuss it with Carl and see if he's willing to set it up or perhaps you'd like to check it out yourself... Since he's doing the site design and maintenance for you, it's between you guys. And what the heck is jade?!
  18. Here's the word from Kay at World Kite Museum... Hi John, The area north of the Museum, where the picnic tables are, is a City mini park. It's available for anyone. And as I'm writing this I remember that sometimes the tables have been hauled down to the beach during the festival. There are no grills in this park so if you want to cook you'll need to bring something. You are welcome to use the space, however. Here's a thought. We remember other groups having bonfires on the beach away from the dunes, of course, and having a great time. Friday night is also the Museum's Hall of Fame induction party from 6:30 to 8:30. You could attend that and then go to the southend of the Boardwalk for your bonfire/barbcue and also watch the fire works. There is a rest room in that area also. Whichever works - you'll have fun. Saturday night is the Museum auction and awards gala. Hope you plan to attend that also. It's great fun. Have you made reservations for a place to stay? Places are booking now. Kay Does the park work for everyone?
  19. That is too cool Jorge! Err, cool like ice cream...
  20. To be quite clear, Host Play is the same server as Kitelife... Just a different brand name, for use outside of the kiting industry.
  21. Have you been in touch with Eli Anderson? Linda's son is very active in the power kiting scene in the Northwest, all up and down the coast. eanderson (at) west-connect.com
  22. Check my latest venture... Feels smooth, just promoting and waiting for traffic now. http://www.hostplay.net Please share your feelings on graphic appeal, ease of navigation, clarity of product and educational value... I want to make it the very best site that I can.
  23. I didn't want to be greedy.
  24. Looks like 8:30pm, Friday, behind the museum is our goal... Out of the wind, near dark, semi-private... I'm just waiting on a reply from Kay.
  25. Greetings Kay, I will be attending my first ever WSIKF this year, and am having a small gathering of Kitelife regulars together for a barbecue on Friday night of the festival... I would like to humbly request the use of the "courtyard" area behind the museum for a couple of hours that evening. We're aware that it could potentially be committed to another group, but if there is any possibility of us using it from 8:30pm to around 10:30pm... We would be a happy little group indeed, likely between 10-20 people total. I would personally ensure that we leave it as we found it... And we'd be pleased just to have a place to convene briefly. Please let me know? Respectfully yours, John Barresi Editor/Publisher Kitelife Magazine There you have it gang... We'll find out soon with any luck.
