    Purple Pairs

    From the album: Riffclown's Homemades

Mark and Jim flying the purple midvents in precision pairs..
  4. New Drawing is up. locking this one down..
  5. Skyshark rod can be purchased for around $10. If you don't mind a camo pattern you can get skyshark rods from Kites and Fun Things for as little as $3 each. You willneed to be able to trim them to the standard length.
  6. The Symphony Pro is a versatile kite but the Bridles on the pro model are sewn to minimize drag. That being said, you CAN adjust the nose angle slightly by redoing the looping at the main attachment point. IIRC, The top set would be looped twice and the middle set looped once. This will change the angle of attack slightly but the significance in pull is not that drastic. I do not recommend making the change unless you are really trying to alter the kite characteristics or modifying it for 4 line. If you really want less pull, a smaller size might need to be considered.
  7. Seems pretty capable to me. I guess Flic Flacs are out of the question but Brett Marchel has axel'd one. I could hardly believe it until I saw the video. YES they have a 2 line bias but they'll put a grin on your face that doesn't fade easily. It is the easiest (and possibly cheapest) way to transition from two to four lines since you don't need the brakes for stability.
  8. All Done. A couple of shots from the Bridle Test.
  9. Couple of other shots from the Bridle Test.
  10. Framing and Edge binding remain. Bridle is ready. Frame is cut..
  11. The Center pattern has been completed, Initial LE Trim has been done and sewing is underway. The rulers are place to give a very rough sizing of the final kite. Everything outside the yellow rulers will be part of the bag along with the initial LE trim or waste. The initial LE trim leaves an additional inch at the top to allow me to trim the loose threads from sewing at the same time I trim to marry it to the LE. Hoping to try this kite out at the Wright festival before sending it on its way to the new owner. ****NOTE, because I don't use an actual pattern all of my kites really are slightly different, I do bridle test each one along with a test fly if possible. If it's not a kite I would keep for myself, it's not a kite I would pass on to others..
  12. Sail is progressing quickly. I expect to start sewing this weekend.
