I agree about the wind, wait for good learning wind. When your kite stops bouncing or taking over control then start expanding your wind range. Also, clockwise and counter-clockwise may be less confusing as they stay consistent no matter the orientation of your kite. "Right" becomes "left" when inverted. Hitting kite festivals is great advice. Traveling to another flyer- one who is really experienced and likes teaching will feel worth, believe me. Getting good wind and a teacher together can cut your learning curve dramatically. That said you can do it on your own, and learn really well with patience. Just remember:. This is All about consistent well built muscle memory. Check your hand and body position frequently. Set appropriate baby step goals. Remember to breath....breathing normally will really help relax your body and mind in a way that helps. Don't forget to channel your inner Jedi. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

Absolutely agree with:. "And yes, I believe that having a kite purchase strategy/pattern could also mean that “You might be a kite nut” (which is far from unique in this Forum…)." As well as if you have ever listed off more than 5 kites you have in mind for your next one without having to stop and think much about it. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

I thought I saw a video once on how to set up an iflight? Maybe it was linked to one of the kite shops pages where iflight was sold? Anyone else feel like they have seen that? It might help, I will poke around and see if I can find it. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

Well Eli might like the food, but he may have to try it for the first time before he eats it all. Eli is my Green Eggs and Ham Hero. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

Nah, not yet. Will sew one soon. I am in Philly and Rich was nice enough to share his indoor space and kites. It was a blast and was hard to admit that I should stop playing. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

If you gave yourself blisters practicing kite moves (indoor going backwards of course) and you felt the blisters starting up but you just couldn't stop. Even after when your friends and family look at you like you might be insane all you can think is "it was sooo worth it." Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

I feel like the center white diamond near the leading edge of the kite should be black - taking about the one with the dark outer edges. They are all very pretty. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

My husband's answer: "If you are on kitelife.com!" I would (secretly from him but openly to y'all) add "if you have ever realize you didn't hear what your spouse/child said because you were corresponding with a kitelife friend.". Man, I hope he never reads this stuff or I will get teased. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

Are you new to flying quad? I have heard that the B2 size can be a bit more twitchy to fly, so be patient with yourself as you start. No matter how you fix the bridle - buy or make - be sure to check that it is completely symmetrical. I would try out a regular and a french bridle if you can before committing to the french style. (Paul sure rocks his french bridles, but in my hands french bridle was weirdness.) Can you tell us what rods were in the frame? It maybe that if placed correctly you can use them together just fine. Many people use a mix of rods, to get a specific feel. What do you have to work with?

That purple one sure is a beautiful sail. It does have great sparkle to it. I noticed that you have changed the belly shape a bit, rounded it and seems a bit shorted vertically. What led to those changes and how does it feel in the air? Wish I could have been there to fly it. Kinda glad I was so far from such temptations. Just a comment, it looks like you are mixing quad and dial in your comments, which is great. However it is not always clear to me which subset your comment or question is about and that may impact the advice given - I don't know. . As to quad- change your leaders sooner but don't worry about the bridle as they are the same as factory quad.(so far...??). Quad is ALL about making good muscular memories that you can use fluidly. Small, tiny even, inputs= good performance in many cases. Get your equipment set up right so that the muscle memory you build is a good one that you will not have to unlearn. Check you hand position for equalness constantly until your hands are automatically even in placement. Stack the deck in your favor. You can make leaders if you have an eye for detail, or buy them, but get a good set on. Then rewatch the leaders vids and off you go. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

When I was starting out Cath at Flying Smiles kites recommended that I stick to 90# or 100# lines until I could control landings and launches and keep it off the ground really reliably. She said 50# is much more likely to pop when it snags on ground crud (sticks rocks and such). Yes 50# should help you in lower wind, but JB would tell you that experience will trump equipment every time. While you might be thinking the 50# line will help you rack up experience faster, many would say you will learn faster by being pickier with your wind at this stage. I would say that following the ok or better wind and waiting until I had solid self rescue from the ground techniques has served me well and as a result the 50# lines will hopefully last longer. Also to your question, the leaders on kitelife store are built by TK, JBs wife to the specs he recommends. Glad you are having fun. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

Also, was rolling my B today and found myself thinking: "sure hope that the djinn bridle rolls up nice like this.". [emoji3] Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

Something about the djinn's shape and layout seems to be begging for a monarch butterfly inspired color scheme as one of the options. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

Hey all, I am headed to Philly for a week from June 25-29 and will have some time mid-day each day and possibly an evening to fly. Anyone around who would like to fly together? A friendly flight time would be a great tension breaker on this trip. [emoji3] Got any recommendations on where to go for good wind? Anyone doing indoor?? Welcome and sounds like you are doing great. Be choosy about your wind at first, choppy bouncy or weak wind is a good challenge later but not helpful for the initial learning curve. Breathing and taking breaks is key as it helps loosen your muscle tension. Focus on developing good consistent muscle memory for each skill...and practice each skill each time out. Smile a lot. The wonderful thing about quads is that even a learner is doing more cool stuff with a kite than most people ever thought possible. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

I finally figured out what was niggling in the back of my brain. I felt like every time I looked at your sails there was some observation that just wouldn't come to the front of my thoughts and it was bugging me. It was the photo of three that finally sealed the deal for me....they are beautiful and symetrical but not symetrical too. Stay with me - the layout is symetrical, but the color at the bottom of the same like on the left was the opposite color on the right. So if the line was yellow and blue alternating it was that on both sides, but the bottom color on the right might be blue and on the left it is yellow. My brain was clearly working hard on that. Wow. Ok. All better now. Very pretty. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

I would think you would get NICE feedback. I have been amazed at how nice and how patient people are here. Even in the field I have never seen anyone get miffed over the worst line tangles. Put up your questions/videos and just know that the replies you get will likely be long and thoughtful and as helpful as they know how to be. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

Yeah, guess being between two major cities has upsides at least when it comes to Craigslist. . I will be interested to see your results and how clearly they show feedback for learning from. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app
