I would look to Craigslist an older GoPro. Severql available sub $100 in my area. . Justure out which models do what you want and check listings ever couple of days. Only caution would be to ask to see it work and confirm no password active or what it is. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using KiteLife mobile app

That is what I love about kite life....another successful connection furthers the joy. The people I have met on here are 1/2 the joy that my kite's have brought me. Good flying to all! Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

I just occurred to me that we should ask TK what other skills he has that we should leverage- is he good at weeding? That info might totally change the ticket buying next round. Nah, then I would be expected to work too...let go fly a kite. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

Bedsheets and bits of string in Birmingham
ACrop replied to HedgerowPete's topic in New Member Introductions
Hi Pete and welcome. All types of kite flyers are welcome here. As a four line suicide bedsheet flyer I appreciate those like you who put up pretty things for me to look at to check wind direction and gaze at while I take a break. Your fun kites and ground displays keep my kids happy while I fly a little bit longer then I would be able to if you were not putting on a show. Thank you to all the SLK out there! Come on... doesn't at least one of you famous PBG hills have wind on top? I feel your pain, and some would say that this is highlighting a gap in our quiver and/or skills. Have you tried blowing at the kite yet? Purse your lips and blow hard, it works 30% of the time to call a brief teasing breeze....just enough to keep you trying for another 15 minutes. Hey there. Welcome to the forum. Pretty kite! You might do better getting an answer to your repair question by putting it as a separate post. I don't fly dual line, so the answer about repairs might be different, but I have been told at other times to repair my quad frame tubes by: 1. Use electrical tape to reinforce splits. Move damaged end out of high stress positions. 2. Put/glue a ferrule into the damaged part of the tube to repair it. Cheers and welcome! Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

It is kinda funny, but but it is starting to feel like tempting me with kites is my kite friends new challenge. Eric was dangling glider candy under my nose on mother's day of all the days to tempt. JB's new sail is not gonna help my temptation levels either when it comes out. Arg, I like a lite kite bag. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

Very very nice. I think this is my favorite of yours. Didn't you do a red leading edge on a different one? That might be nice on this one. Great color and pattern use. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

Welcome to the dark side! I would look at what your average local wind is in determining what to buy. Go fly OPK as much as you can. Venting is nice if your inland wind is bumpy, but will limit you to higher wind days at first. Stick to the good wind days until you stop crashing - after that any condition that doesn't break your gear is good for learning something new. Don't worry about winds above 30mph on your gear- that is not learning wind. Look for 6-14mph smooth wind with an experienced pilot beside you to minimize the learning curve. If you don't find someone local I hit Cincinnati twice a year on travel. Not real close, but maybe worth a drive if you are still flying all alone. They didn't kick us out, but we were being careful. What security guard??? Sad that we two are such rule followers, we wanted to have much more fun but we were as good as we felt we should be....almost. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

I have three kids under 9, I am lucky to get my thoughts together to get any project done. Sorry, my current kite list from my own to-do list is at least three years long. [emoji6] But I am happy to share what I have learned so far. Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

I would borrow a machine if you can before making the leap. Anyone can see with some patience, but making sure it is your brand of patience would be wise before starting a sewing collection...cause let's face it, it is not just a machine you will end up with. Machine, cutting mats, quilting rulers, rotary cutter and special scissors that will cause you to threaten anyone who uses them for other materials, a light for seeing clearly at the machine, 4 types of tape, storage tub for the sewing stuff, another for kite bits, big paper for templates, a new table when you get kicked off the kitchen counter after a week, and we haven't even started with kite parts. If looking to buy not every machine has the three step zig-zag stich programmed in, so that is something to look for. Kite making is fun, but know that the rabbit hole is deep Alice. With that said....what am I gonna build next....Xtra vent or indoor??? Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

So, the real question in my mind, (not that I think an answer should come out in such a public forum), is what is JB doing, if anything, to protect his new design ideas from others? What about Bazzer and the other masters? Sent from my [device_name] using http://KiteLife mobile app

If you have never burned something with a lighter before I would recommend practice first. I recommend practicing on a ribbon, a thicker grosgrain one, or some synthetic rope. Fray the edges out a bit then try it. I like to use a thick pillar candle so as to have a stationary flame and both hands free to move the material. Aim to hover just above the tip of the flame.
