Seeing as I am not able to make it to the AKA convention this year , I thought I would have some fun with some new software. **FlyinKen**

Another site I enjoy spending time with is Kitebuilder.com. They also have archives of pictures and plans. **FlyinKen**

Being located in Beaverton myself, it is a hit or miss situation. It seems everytime I find a nice place, the next time there is some sport practice going on. I am checking on a few where permission needs to be asked. If I come up with a good one, I'll keep you posted. **FlyinKen**

Sounds better then getting other stuff on it. It's a wonder she did not swallow the gum when she took a big breath :confused!: For most of us, the camera is never around when you want it. **FlyinKen**

I see a Silver Fox in my future also. Is seems like a good kite for the money. Has anyone seen any differences in flying the 2.3s, as compared to the 2.5? :confused!: With the 2.3 being a bit more cost effective, I was thinks of going that route. **FlyinKen**

Thanks alot Granpa and Ant man!. Actually blowing out the candles is always easy, cause we usually just put 1 one on. ( not enough room in the last few years) And if there were enough room, then I would not have enough breath. This year the cake did not have any. The Misses made a nice cake for me on Saturday, as she would be out of town on my B-day. (had to go into work anyways.) For an idea of my age, the twin towers fell to terrorists on my 40th. (I am also a twin) he lives in nice and hot Phoenix. Thanks again **FlyinKen**

Glad ya had some wind when you were out here. I don't want outatowners to think we don't share our wind. And with city planners, It is all a matter of who's payin the bucks. Nice Kite, nice uncrowded beach. **FlyinKen**

Hey, looks like you had better wind then I did on the 1st. ( I had to work on Sunday, and Monday) What little wind I had was also coming from the North. Looks like your wind was from the south? I was up by the Casino. Where were you flying at? Looks like you had fun with the "B". And how is the petition going? **FlyinKen**

I look forward to seeing the video, but right now download will be too slow. I will be like what I will look like when I get my 1st rev next year. **Ken**

I would have liked to meet other members also, but alas, my time was short. I was planning on being there all day Thursday. But I had to make an unscheduled trip to take my son to the doctor (nothing major) so I did not make it till 2pm. Then it seems that people start pulling down for the night at 4pm. I did get a few pictures of I-Quad flying( great show everyone ) and some of the pictures of the displays. So I went and pulled out 2 of my kites to fly around. And that was all for my 1st WSIKF. I plan on making it to the kite Lincoln City Kite fly in October. ( I don't have the money or the time for the AKA convention) Maybe I will see some people there. Good flying. **Ken**

Do you know why there is a petition at Elmers? It did not say what is going on at D. park. Heard anything about it being converted over to a ball park or something?
-
I sent you my name via private e-mail, but I forgot the the city name. I am a little leary of having my name and city for so many to see. ( hard to fly a kite with a straight jacket on) Beaverton, Oregon. I stopped and stayed the night in Idaho Falls on my way to a wedding in Denver about 10 years ago. Here in Portland,OR we have a field that is used quite a bit for kite flying that might be put to another use. I saw at one of our local kite vendors,(Elmers flag and banner) a petition about possibly losing a flying field. John B. Do you know anything about Delta Park? **FlyinKen**

Sounds like Tony still needs to improve on customer support. Aerochic and I were having the same issues with bestkites a month ago. (see off topic, "the good and the bad.......) **FlyinKen**

Please let me know how this turns out, Ken, as I believe I ordered my kite around the same time as you. I was told mine was to be shipped on Friday, but the order tracking on their website still says "Pending", Grrrrrrr. I am SO. Not. Happy. about this. As of this moment, my kite has not been delivered. I will give him (Tony @ Bestkites) Saturday to deliver. On Saturday evening, if no delivery, a complaint will be sent to the BBB. (he shows 3 similar complaints when I looked.) I will also try and get my money back. It sounds like we may have ordered from the same place. My online log-in also shows "pending". When I talked to Tony on Wednesday, he said it would be here today for sure. When I called him today, he put me on HOLD, and then I was disconnected. After that, just got his voice mail. I now no longer believe his word. **FlyinKen** I ma Awwwww Man! That So Sucks!!! I hope you get your order (and in proper shape). Mine apparently was shipped out this week (I was given a UPS tracking #), but I'm reserving final judgement until it actually arrives in my hands. Last time I tried to call I was met by answering machines. I'm very aggravated by the lack of communication there. So Not Impressed. If I get screwed with the shipping, I will be adding to the list of reports to the BBB. Final update. The kite arrived today When I ordered the kite, there was 3 things that I had choice of. Size, design, and controll option ( quad handles or controll bar.) Well, at least the size was right. (though I would not have minded getting a bigger 1 for the same price.) But it showed up with the wrong design, and wrong controll option. What matters the most here though, is I am going to enjoy it alot! It'l just be hard waiting for some wind. ( I'm sure no one else ever had this problem , yea right.) **FlyinKen**

Thanks everyone for the great input. This coming Thursday, I will be stopping by my local library. As far as the kite Museum, I was planning on stopping by this August during the Kite Fest. If they have some books, I might see if I can make an earlier day trip. And watching Lam sew up some of his kites would be interesting. I would like to do that in the next few weeks. Thanks again, **FlyinKen**

Not quite sure about which books I am interested in, that where your opinions would be appreciated. According to some reviews in amazon, the latest by Pellham has too much history, and it also has some missing illustrations. And like MrDenny's suggestion, I will be heading to the biggest library in my area this weekend coming up. Thanks all. **FlyinKen**

The latest kite ordering issue is the only bad experience I have had while ordering online. I was just wondering if someone local wanted to sell a book that was collecting dust. None of my local bookstores have it in stock. (checked online) **FlyinKen**

I am interested in buying someones used kite building book, if you live in the Portland, Oregon metro area. I would rather pay someone cash localy, rather then order online. I am still waiting for the kite I ordered 2 weeks ago. Thanks. **FlyinKen**

I would like to purchase a patch for my hat, and an iron-on with the kitelife logo. Is it possible to get these from cafe-press? **FlyinKen**

As far as the kite I ordered a week ago, I called again today at 2:30pm west coast time. I should get it this coming Tuesday, shipped from the east coast somewhere. I did not have big plans like some of you others. So just a few more days of waitings **FlyinKen**

Ugh! I think I ordered from the same place recently. Ya knowwww, communication is such a ~easy~ and helpful thing. An email would have really helped. Now I leave for vacation without my new kite. *Cries* That would suck, planning a vacation, and not having something that was ordered to take along. And with "AntMan" waiting over 4 months, I may have asked for some sort of partial refund. **FlyinKen**

The good : About a month ago I bought a kite online ( when local source did not carry what I wanted) from "A wind of change" in Las Vegas. I ordered it on a Friday afternnon, and was happy to get it on that following Monday. Wonderfull service, I was quite happy. The bad: Last Friday 06/08 in the morning I ordered a kite from a different online souce in California (again, local source did not have exactly what I wanted) Here it is almost a week later, and no kite yet. They have not even sent it yet. (the online status page keeps indicating pending order) I called the store on Tuesday, and he told me the kite was back ordered, and was not sure when it would be in. I even paid more for shipping and handling. He just lost all of any other future business. So when ordering online, call and confirm item is in stock before paying. **FlyinKen**
