JD Thank you!! I'm glad it was a succesful weekend over all. Will there be pictures posted anywhere. Did you drive yourself there? Betty sent me pictures of the fun fly at Crescent City I think. I've not had time to view them, since I got them at work. Maybe I'll be seeing your smiling face in them. Lolly is sending me some white kites to paint. Next time you get a rev, ask for white. Then you won't have to paint over any colors. The indoor is coming up in March. I hope you get some practice in and come join us. Hey, I saw a lot of great costumes the other day and thought of you. There was an M & M costume.. There were several raisens, too. Now wouldn't that be fun!?! Keep me posted on your progress and tell Mom and Dad hello. Hey, Carl, good picture in the newspaper article. It was a good article too. BB Penny

I'm going to try Sawyers one handed no wind revolution launch picture one more time. It wasn't at WSKIF, It was at Orting on the 4th of July. My 5 yr. old grandson loves to fly kites and didn't quit all day. Sorry, it's under a WSIKF post, but I'm just hoping to get the picture posted. BB Penny

I want to post a picture of my grandson flying 1 handed but it's saying it's in a wrong format. I'll put in a power pic instead. Me on the Ozone ramp. lol Eli Anderson Madkiting.com held me, ran and took the picture and ran back to save me, but I thought it was fun! It's not how he normallly gives lessons. BB Penny

Awww Dave, I would, but you'd have to stop by here and drop it off. The City and I had opted for two out of three festivals a year at Lincoln City to give others a chance to be invited. Worked out great... Orting Indoor and Fest up here, but that got cancelled. Then Ron at Lincoln City contacted me and asked if I could make it on short notice. I wish I could, but we've to many commitments now. So you better put on a darn good show! Tell everyone I said hello and give Ms. Amy a hug for me. I dare you to hug Cody and Llama guy too! Hope you all have good weather and wind. BB Penny

Cheers! And lets here it for the future President of AKA... The next David Gomberg.. (heard this, didn't make it up) John Barresi! lol I love it. Watching this young teenager grow up to be a responsible young man. Who'd of thunk it? lol Wow, proof positive the only thing consistent in life is change. Best Breezes, Penny -
Ok, I'm gathering quite a repertoire of routines. Plenty to work on, but I still need 2 new routines, or at least 1 since I can always pull an old one out of the hat for this coming years demo's. I picked up a cute Keystone Cop outfit. The hat, billy club, mustache, dress and panties, or w/ pants. I'll need a jailbird to chase around, or a black and white striped kite. I've been looking at ordering a DVD to study the keystone cops and have to come up with a routine. At least I'm half way there. Stanley suggested I do a Charlie Chaplin routine with my one handed handle? Hmm, now there's an idea. I'd have to see if it's feasible. Can I really move in tiny steps indoors? I'll look into it a little closer after this routine. My pirate routine & Egg/Dinosaur routine seem to be the favorites so far. It sure was a fun year. Seems like every event made me smile for weeks. I met so many interesting people. Giving lessons is actually one of my very favorite things to do. We have so much fun! You wouldn't believe it. Well, I'm getting off topic. I better get back to work. Best Breezes, Penny

I was reading some history on Pacific Beach, and they put in pilings along the river to keep it on the straight (but not narrow-depends on the tide) So it stays put. Wonder if it would work there. Maybe Lincoln City's mayor should speak w/ Pacific Beach's mayor. If anyone stays at the Exceptional Place to B & B send Ed our regards. Have fun. I wish you all wind. BB Penny PS PCKA meeting tonight for anyone who's left in town.

Try a power luanch too. Remember no wussie launches for newbies. You have to be stronger then the wind, or the wind is flying it not you. If you launch slow.. the wind will either take it and fly it or it's not enough power to get it up high and find wind. 1 lines are tight. 2 arms are long. (no bent elbows here-step back) 3 one foot behind you.. Now pull and step back as you point the bottms of the handles up into the air. Pull and stepping back give you the lift and the power. Woosh, and use your whole arm movement as you do this (only in the beginning) Don't pull the kite towards you. Use your wrist. Make sure your not coming down because the bottom of the handles are pointing down once it's up. That is pilot error. I tlell people one way of steering it is pointing the bottom handles where you want the kite to go. Good luck! BB Penny

Hey Monkey, that's why it's- whatever it takes. Those adjustments work well, unless I get a bottom line off. I only equalize my lines about twice a year. Which isn't much for the amount of flying I do. That's why I like my adjustments. I have all sorts of people fly it and if I need to slow down I just adust it. Actually, it's a very tough kite, isn't it? Just a few more weeks of grandkids, and then it's fly time. I'll bet it's wonderful at Nationals. Sawyer and I will go out side and fly. That will make us feel better. BB Penny

With the Magic Sticks I've seen the rev's rolled into their lines like you do the dual lines and when you launch it unrolls. Have you tried that yet? BB Penny
-
Yeah Kram! We can read the enthusiasm in the post. Yup, it's doable. That's why were in here. We want everyone to know. Just so we get our piece of sky. I've heard quadified before. But I'm not a quad snob. Should we see how many horrible puns we can come up with? This might be a job for Llama's Angels. Angel's any words about the dark side? BB Penny

I use same length lines, with a sliding knot on my adjustment line. Attaching the upper line closer to the handles will lean the kite forward to catch more wind. In high wind, lowering thus adding length to the line on the top will lean the kite back, dumping more air, slowing it down and making it more controllable. Some people don't mess with adjustments, (but the kite would fly better if slowed down) and some lower their hands on the handles to slow it down. Some put the adjustments on the bottom. Remember, it's whatever works for you. What size handles are you using? Best Breezes, Penny

Wow, sun, wind and food. Good luck you guys at Nationals! Missed saying hello to you at Whidby Teresa. BB Penny

Only if you don't have a stake. You always want to try to have one to stay out of trouble. Nothing like chasing a kite down the beach in high wind. (word of experience) <_< If you get stuck without a stake you might also turn your kite a little sideways so the wind doesn't pick it up, then pull it around to pop up. You can make your own stakes and be very creative. I just use Kmart tent stakes. 4 for under $3 tie a pink piece of plastic off the tail and wa la.. I can see it and if I loose it, no expensive loss. The rev was actually the first self launching kite out there that I'm aware of. Two stringers were balancing them on grass or getting help. The Rev. is almost totally self launching unless you fall face down towards you and don't have an speed series to pull and float it up of if you fall face back. Once you get the hang of it you will seldom ever walk down to it. Even able to fix those 80 % of the time. BB Penny
