  1. I had ordered a second winder awhile back , so a few days ago I decided to experiment using the 2 winder method and time the setup and tear down to compare the difference, from start to connected to the kite and ready to launch. I find the time is just the about the same using either method, with zero problems with the 2 winders, so I am probably going to stick with it unless I can think of a compelling reason to go back to one winder. The only downside I can see, is if carrying a 85 foot line set and a 100 foot, set in my bag, that the winders be clearly marked, otherwise some real control issues on launch would be the result.

    E-cigs ? Vaping ?

Just look at the skin of a heavy smoker, and you can see what effect nicotine has.

    E-cigs ? Vaping ?

I know a couple of people that have been chewing Nicorette Gum, one for over 15 years, and can't get off it. I have known people that have gotten off a heroin addiction , and alcohol, but they could never quit smoking. http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/research-reports/tobacco-addiction/nicotine-addictive

I quit smoking over 40 years ago, by just stopping, from 2 1/2 packs a day. All my friends that smoked, all passed away years ago.No interest in anything with nicotine in it, which is the most addictive drug in the world, in my opinion. Not only that nicotine, can cause heart arrhythmia problems that are exposed to it.
  5. JB could fly an "anvil", with race rods............... My set-ups are as follows, for B-series, B-Pros, and B2's: Standard Sail - Black Race Rods Mid-Vent Sail - 3-wrap Full-Vent Sail - 4-wrap That's just my opinion (set-ups)........Others will have other opinions, but don't hesitate to experiment ! It's all about what feels RIGHT - for you ! I agree wit you about JB. That video I posted of him flying the B with Race Rods, the kite looks like it is "alive".....
  6. What is the bottom of your mid-range with the 3 wrap? ( approximately of course) By the way that Kite-Car Combination looks great.
  7. I found this video tonight, low wind speed 3-6 mph, B mid vent and race frame. So at least one person , JB, can get it off the ground
  8. Just got my new B mid vent this afternoon. Of course as soon as it was delivered the 8-10 mph wind that was blowing since early this morning, instantly went to 1 mph gusting to 0, so no flying anything for me today. Anyway, the kite looks awesome, Red/white and black complete with signatures and a very colorful bag... Here is my question, I ordered it with just a Race Rod set and since the usual strong wind around here is in the 8-10 mph at most, many days less, would it be a good idea to leave the race rod set in the mid vent so that I could try flying it in about the same wind condition as my Std 1.5 with the 3 wrap rods? If not, should I put the 3 wraps in the B, and Race Rods in the 1.5 std and only fly the B when the wind gets over say 10 mph?
  9. Ok, just finished the no-snag mod on my Revolution handles. Piece of cake, made very easy by my Dremel tool. I used a flat grinding wheel on the Dremel to smooth out the area around the holes that the hog rings were in. Used a channel lock pliers and a regular pliers to pop the hog rings off the handles. Pried up the black rubber covers with a flat surface. Then I used a small pointed grinder on my Dremel, to enlarge the holes in the black covers a bit to make it easier to snake the leader lines in. I then used the grinding wheel with the flat edge, to widen just a bit the space between the bottom of the head of the screw and the beginning of the threads, so that the leader would not come in contact with the threaded portion of the screw. First handle took me about 15 minutes to complete taking my time, and the second one under 10 minutes. They look great. I believe the no-snag handles sell for about $90, so it was well worth it.
  10. I decided to get a windmeter to give me some idea of the guessing I am doing at the windspeed, to see if I am close or not. I purchased this one for $20 and it seems pretty accurate, and works well, and is easy to use. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007P10OQC/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I got it in about a week, even though it said it would take a month. The instructions aren't that clear, but in the reviews on the Amazon website, there are explanations on how to set it up. Not very difficult. Anyway , it turns out my estimation of the wind speeds was off, especially at the lower end. I was estimating the wind as higher than it actually was. Took the meter down to a local airport to check it out, and it was pretty close.
  11. They were probably being truthful. They never flew the lines, cause they couldn't get them untangled..
  12. For sure! I make a point, no matter what, to NEVER walk to a downed kite, with the handles in my hands. You're only asking for trouble. Besides, that's what they make stakes for Yeah, I have a stake holder that is belt mounted, and prior to launching, the stake goes in the holder. If I land and have to go to kite, it immediately gets staked.
  13. Well I decided to switch to winding my Rev line on 2 line holders yesterday. Quick, painless, and problem free. YMMV.
  14. I have flown my SLE about 10 hours total, so before winding up the lines today, I decided to check the equalization again, and it was almost an inch too long on the right top. I got that taken care of when I got home. I was wondering why the kite had a tendency to turn right when launching. This week I am going to modify the handles with the no-snag mod.
  15. Got over 3 hours flying in today/ Wind was great, around 8-14 or maybe higher at altitude. Could have used that V mid vent. today. Worked on hovering, forward flight, figure 8's, and slides. At one point, when I was forward flying heading for the ground at Mach 1, I hit the emergency brake, and stopped about 2 feet from touchdown. Revs have great brakes.....!!!!!! Used 2 winders today, going to see how that works out. Should be getting my 1.5 B mv tomorrow. Oh, used my new wind gauge today, and I think I was overestimating the wind speed when the wind was low. What I thought was around 6, was actually a tad under 4 mph. 6mph and above , and my SLE leaps off the ground
  16. The Revolution site is back up.
  17. I called them today, and they said they know the site is down. They suspect the really bad weather there may be responsible.
  18. Both yesterday and today, it was cold, and windy. Windchill in the upper teens to low 20's . Too cold for me....
  19. I ordered some Clear Tenacious Tape today from Amazon with free shipping. Seems that Prism is selling it on their website, so it must be OK to use on kites. I emailed the dealer that was charging $16 to ship a 1 foot by 2" piece of tape last night, and they never replied. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
  20. That the site that charges $16.95 to ship the tape.
  21. I am trying to get some repair items together and was reading that Tedlar Tape seems to be the recommended sail repair tape to have. As usual, I did a Google search and came up with only 2 sources, which seems strange. Anyway, one source is a Kite Shop, but for a $3 piece of 2" tape, they want $17 to ship it. The only other place I see it, is part of a Prism repair kit that costs $25 plus shipping, and they don't even tell you how large the piece of tape in the kit is. Have no need for most of the other stuff in the kit, so it's not a good option. My question is, where is a place to purchase this tape at a reasonable price?
  22. Here is my solution on those no-wind days. All I need is a river, a boat, a boat driver, some bridges, some skill, and a truck load of Revolution Kites, so that when I smash one against something, I can just launch another one.
  23. Did another 3 hours this afternoon... Learned alot today, but realize there is a ton of stuff still to learn.
  24. Well I had a total success so far today, and it's only 1/2 over. Rained this morning , but quickly dried out, and the winds started blowing around 8-12 ( probably more 50 feet up). Set up the SLE without a hitch, and it had the 3 wrap rods in it that I installed last night in place of the SLE rods. Launched, and up it went. Practiced hovering at different altitudes, then practiced hovering inverted close to the ground, did some forward flight back and forth across the window, many controlled landings, and no crashes. This is over about a 2 hour period. Came home to get some lunch, and then back at it. Hope the wind stays. I had a blast...
