  1. Hi friends, I'm looking to sell, or even better, trade my Lam Hoac ATM. I've been playing with it for 4 months, but I'm not clicking with it. I've told it, it's not you, it's me [emoji1] I've covered the nose with Plasti-Dip for better protection against accidedntal nose dives and general friction. It's got a pinhole which I covered with TearAid, and had a master kite-maker add Dacron to standoff area to prevent wear of the leech-line, after it broke through the spinnaker, with no added weight to the kite, and with better performance. Would love to trade it for an SKD Mohawk XS, JoE Talon, N3E, but open to other suggestions. Asking price is 190USD plus actual world wide shipping. PM will be promptly replied.
  2. Most KAP devices are made to order, as far as I've learned, though some are made as "fit most". I would recommend you inquire on the Facebook group called Kite Areal Photography KAP. personally I do my KAP with an action camera that has a Wifi app which allows me some of the control your looking for, mounted with a relatively simple device I made, but I don't this it would fit your purpose, especially not in that kind of wind. For that you need an SLK setup. Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  3. How high would you need the camera to be? Thank you kindly, Iftah.

    E-cigs ? Vaping ?

They're all success stories, once you can walk away from so many years of self abuse and smell, literally smell, the fresh air. Good job everyone! High fives all around! [emoji1]

    E-cigs ? Vaping ?

If we're sharing, although not ecigs related, I stopped 4 and a half years ago, cold turkey, after smoking for 17 or so. Was nagging my father forever to stop his 50 years streak, with the appearance of health issues, finally I said to him "I won't ask you to stop any more, but know this, as long as you go on, I will too". Two weeks later he says to me he's been off it for two days, and it's time for me to join. And so I did. Without even a last cigarette. Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  6. I think I'm going to make a bag similar to this one, or maybe a cross between this and Hadge's, maybe from an old backpack, plus attaching one of its padded shoulder straps. I need a bag that can fit 3 kites folded or assembled, can go on the plane, and is not too complicated to make.
  7. Those kites are exquisite. The bird is too, up close, Alon made a series of birds of pray, even has a 3.5 meter Condor. How long ago were "the prism forum days" ? There was a guy called Ralph from Ranana but I don't think he's flying anymore. Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  8. Here are a few kites of an Israeli kite flyer's get-together this Saturday. I got to meet another kite flyer, Alon, he's the one with the self made white eagle SLK. And of course, Shula and Eli Shavit, with their newest creation - 8 kite. The beautiful bandanna one is also some of Shula's amazing patch work. All together that makes 3 other kite flyers that I've met in person - Yeehee!! I was told there are at least two more, living up north. No stunt-kite flyers though, except me. I was flying, or at least edge-of-the-window attempting to fly, my ATM, the wind was a bit too strong, but I was getting at least some decent multi-lazies and roll-ups. https://vimeo.com/139916955 Weird, can't get it to show the player.. 9. Phil is a really great guy, and knows his stuff. You're in good hands.
  10. There's the sleeping beauty, but I wouldn't recommend it. I broke a lower spreader learning that one, and decided it's better to walk over, the next time. I challenged myself to learn when that's going to happen and pop the kite before it does, so it can get more wind into the sail. I walk the walk of shame a lot less nowadays. Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  11. Any of the links on the right hand side of the forum would do you right, like into the wind, or the kite shoppe. They're good people and can sort out all your spar issues. What kite are we talking about? Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  12. Toyota Land Cruiser Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  13. Thanks! Yeah the kite did get wrangled pretty bad but now it's fixed. We went flying together today, it was just great, a completely different experience for me. Hers a picture of it...
  14. until

Bummer. That means 4am on my time.
  15. A rant with a happy ending: On Friday I went out to fly at my regular field. After wrapping the lines on the tip, I came to unwrap only to discover I punched a 1mm hole in my ATM (that's big!) and worse, I noticed that all of a sudden the trailing edge on both sides was scorched and the leech line was showing I folded the ATM, and since the wind was already low, I took out my Seven UL. 5 minutes later, trying to do a two point landing, I crashed it into the side of my Jeep. Broke a lower LE spar and the center T!!! The Seven was eventually fixable because I had all the parts, but sewing up the trailing edge of my ATM?? It was way over my head. Asking for advice over at GWTW, one of the members connected me with two SLK kite builders, here in Israel, that live 20 minutes from me, which I never knew about. Ended up having a fun visit at their house, with lots of great stories, with the nicest couple you could ever imagine. I never spoke face to face with any other kite flyer before, so this was a great experience, and they also promised to fix my kite. So all's well that ends well, but actually, for me it's a beginning of being a part of a local kite community (though I'm still apparently the only stunt kite flyer in the country at the moment ) Here's one of their kites, Eli and Shula Shavit, that appeared on AKA Kiting magazine recently, all different colors are different panels that were sewn together(!!!):
  16. While later, when starting with trick learning, the window edge would be your friend, now it's best to avoid the far ends of it, like Brian said. Pulling your hands to generate more speed would lead to the kite stepping out of the window, so to speak, and falling. A small pull with the opposite hand, if you still have speed, or a small push with the same direction hand if you don't would be better. Check out videos on pull and push turns. There's another "freebird" thread from a few days ago with a lot of good advice from the learned flyers here that you can check out. Good luck, enjoy your kite, and welcome! Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  17. Now thqt we're all getting along, @Deadheadkeg , I would like to suggest the next tool for your learning experience: Dodd Gross flight school videos. It covers flying basics from the ground up. All about take offs, landings, push and pull turns (kite steering), and it's free on YouTube, just do a search with that phrase. If you want to continue on with tricking Dodd's videos will take you further on. I'm sure many here started with these, I know I did. Also, since you're starting out with one of his kites you might want to search for his group on Facebook, before he closes it, and maybe get more info, or perhaps talk to the man himself. Best of luck . Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  18. @Deadheadkeg, Enjoy your kite. @Everyone: In other thoughts: No,I don't believe I answered Deadheadkeg's original question. I didn't have the specific information he requested. I don't believe any of us did, as Deadheadkeg very distinctly pointed out. However, I do want to mention this: we all wanted to help out and not leave this person hanging. Imagine this: a newbie asks a question that no one has any info on, and no one replies. That newbie is repelled by the lack of response, and therefore goes on to be repelled of the community, and possibly the hobby entirely. What I'm referring to here is perspectives. One could say that the forum members' non answer replies were putting off just for the lack of direct response to the specific question. Or, in another perspective, one could see the desire of the forum members to welcome a new person, and give out as much helpful info, and a community embrace, as possible, to a person, any person, who needs support. I know that this was the case with a question I had a while back, and while not really getting a direct reply, I got useful info from the forum members, a much more needed info than I had originally asked for, that turned out to be far more useful in the long run. I guess the reason I'm writing this is because I feel a need to tell all the people who answered the OP's first post to not be discouraged, and potentially deny the next person to ask a newbie question the wealth of knowledge offered here. It is, after all, what kept me coming back, the community embrace. Thanks everyone. Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  19. Have to agree with Rob. I'm usually not one to give advice because I consider myself as a beginner in many ways, and prefer to shelter in the shadow of the greats here. This once I can share of my own experience and say that a big kite would give you more time to react and learn, and more confidence. If you like Skydog's kites I know that many have been tremendously happy with Dodd Gross's Jammin, for off shore winds, and Dream On for more inland. I was very happy to learn on the Widow NG myself, a great factory line Jon T. kite that gives a feeling of a real kite for a moderate price (middle east historians don't make a lot of money either, I was able to get mine for $145). I did my crashing on the Prism Quantum but pretty soon, when I had more control and was eager to go for the tricks, my choice allowed me a kite that has had many fliers and so much experience shared that can be found easily online, and many videos to copy from, which was crucial for me, being the only way for me to advance. Flare up your desire with the foil, save up and make the switch. Again, basically what Rob said. [emoji1] Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  20. I recall him posting on the colibri xl he build. Such a fantastic accomplishment. Such a loss. Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  21. Here's a link to what we have so far: https://www.flickr.com/photos/134420629@N02/Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  22. Nice one Dave, enjoyed it all. Would love to get a nice little spinner to put somewhere, in the garden or on my car. The other day at the field, there were a few guys with motorized para-gliders (what in hell is the name of those things??) and they had these mini bols, or colored wind socks, on a poll attached to their 4WD vehicles, like the ones you have as laundry line, to help understand the wind. Anyway, your music choice is also very enjoyable
  23. Finally watched it. Loved it. Super floaty and the combos really link nicely, great job Rob. BTW, I think the restriction on YouTube was device related, not country. I tried to watch it on my tablet first, with no luck, then watched it on my PC.
  24. Oooh nice one Rob, would you mind emailing me the full resolution ones with a description ? Today I finally got to fly my new UL Seven, and it was the most complete experience! As soon as I picked up the climax lines and started to fly, there was an immediate connection , and the Seven preformed all the tricks I had in my bag with no learning process. It was like we knew each other from way before. It was almost intimate [emoji6] Thank you kindly, Iftah.
  25. Rob, you and I seem to be carrying the torch on this one... I wish others would join as well... Dragonfish, I really hope it takes off. Thank you kindly, Iftah.
