Going for the Slot Machine next. I figure after I have the 540 down, I can go for the Slot. At least according to Dodd Gross, that puts the two on the same level. Anyway, now I'm neck deep in the 540, and the Cascades. And the double roll up, and Cynique. My brain likes multitasking.. Thank you kindly, Iftah.

Something flat with a lot of lawn, and little to none trees, preferably by the sea. Haven't found it yet. So the next best thing a reaped wheat field with a far horizon. Thank you kindly, Iftah.

Right, sorry what was I thinking... From WA it's 15 hours [emoji38] Thank you kindly, Iftah.

I think you're hooked, (line and sinker) Thank you kindly, Iftah.

It's mostly an exaggerated pop that pulls it out of the T, like Rob said. I'll try putting a bit of tape on the inner ferrule connection, but Rob, how does that bungy thing work? Does it need to be glued or something to either side? Dave you're invited to try my ATM out, it's only a 12 hour flight Thank you kindly, Iftah.

My first flight a couple of days ago was terrible. I couldn't control the kite, the wind was choppy, I couldn't perform any of the tricks I had already semi-mastered, and my favorite thing was gone - fade I was so frustrated, I stayed up and watched every ATM video I could find, read every ATM related post, and nothing, except the mentioning that the fade is harder and needs more tending. Today I got a chance for a second flight. After flying around, taking it down, adjusting something, rinse and repeat, finally I decided to change the tow point. It was against my better judgment because I figured Lam must have set it to its best calibration. I had to untie a knot, and retie it farther up. And then... something changed. It wasn't perfect, so I untied it again and retied it closer to the original, an inch away. And then... Eureka! The Sweetspot! Suddenly everything came back, just with smaller inputs than the one I'm use to on the Widow NG. Easy YoYo, Backspins, Half Axles, and even the Fade. Even stuff I could do: Half Axle Cascades, 540(!) One things' for sure, this one LOVES the Turtle, so Lazy's and Multi were a snap. Edit: couldn't get those flic flacks to go as I wanted, though... Also the female LS kept coming off, anyone else experience that?

My next - next kite got here before my next kite. I ordered an UL Seven from SKD, but due to some unexpected postal issues it's being delayed. So a few weeks ago I decided to invest in a better STD, seeing that I'm flying the Widow NG, and felt I outgrew it a little bit. I bought a 2nd hand Lam Hoac ATM STD, and last week it arrived!

I think it's a great discussion. I get that with the half axle. If I'm watching it, I can get the inputs right. Been trying to learn the cascades of it lately and it's the other way around, I actually need go through the motions before realizing it has the affect, to get the trick right.

Really nice combos, Dave! Thank you kindly, Iftah.

Weekend projects - Nose Plasti Dip
Palmahnic replied to Palmahnic's topic in Adjustments and Modifications
Tested and works! I took the kite out yesterday, and did extra nose pop ups, more than I usually do, and the plasti dip nose held up fine, a little dusty but stronger than ever. Thank you kindly, Iftah. -
Happy birthday John, hope it's a great one! Thank you kindly, Iftah.

Hi folks, greeting from Israel. So the nose on my Widow NG was torn and beaten for a while, probably from all the nose pop-up and such. It was time for a nose job. I decided my sawing skills were not up to the task of putting a new one, so I went with an option that was discussed by many before on different forums, all recommending it. Since I haven't seen anyone post a "how-to" manual, I'm showing here my process. Hope you enjoy it. The before shot + The material and tools I started applying the first layer with a brush, very runny and fluid compered to the original mix, after I thinned it with the Naphtha. This was so the fabric would be soaked with the plasti dip . After waiting 1/2 hour, I applied the second layer, which was reduced through natural vaporizing in open air. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-LVP1l5PKHM8/VWngdhq4BSI/AAAAAAAAPb4/msThFWnumdY/s288/20150530_125737_SUPER.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RGsNSV1QY2g/VWngdm15B5I/AAAAAAAAPb4/BP1o6igfQdo/s288/20150530_124939_SUPER.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pRMYEokzh4k/VWngds3y7_I/AAAAAAAAPb4/ABk8o47vhwI/s288/20150530_133654_SUPER.jpg After another half and hour I put the leftover plasti dip in a cut-out plastic dish so I can dip the nose in the now-more-concentrated material. I dipped only 1/3rd of the nose this time. After another 1/2 an hour, I dipped a final time in the almost-original consistency dip, and only the tip of the nose. The result was a fully protected nose. Hope I helped someone, in some small way. On another note, if there's anybody on this honorable forum from my neck of the woods, I'd be happy to get together and fly happy flying everyone. Iftah.

That was really nice!

Pardon me for interjecting, but can we talk a bit about leader lines, what they're made of, how long they should be, and is there a consensus on when to apply them on your bridle? I know this is the Quad zone, but I'm actually speaking from a dual point of view, if that's alright.

Jorgen just informed me they're going to start working on my Seven UL! Woohoo

Kudos on the courage of putting the clip up for display, and inviting criticism. Your flying looks great, can't wait till I get to that level. Plus way to go on getting up that early

I took off the weight from my W-NG and put a couple of nuts over the spine, held together with the Velcro. I find the original weight is too much.
-
That's some nice hot stuff coming from that kite You could tell this kite is a little on the heavy side. Nice to see you're not flying in the snow anymore

It's not like I'm seeing kites all over the place here, but I actually did see one SLK over the weekend I'm flying the Premier Widow NG. I'm quite happy with it, too. It tricks well, and I have a pretty good learning curve on it, if I do say so myself. It's got a bit of an oversteer, and I had to play with the weight to get the right one, and it does annoy me at times with it's fragility, but all in all, you can't beat the value for price. Here's something I got in the mail today, which I'll bet will come in handy from now on:

Had a prolific weekend over here, made a pair of finger straps from my old Prism ones, and those came out great! It made my flic flacs much easier and nicer, and also managed to multi lazy for the first time, and repeat, and even one back spin! It was great weather to boot. Now I'm waiting for a GorillaPod adapter for my phone to arrive so I can have better videos of my flying.

Gorgeous, I really like his applique, it's very unique. I saw some videos of the GPS flying and it looks like you're going to have a lot of fun with this one. Hope you enjoy it!

Also there's some bridle line over at goodwinds dot com.

I'm rigorously trying to learn both the multi-lazies, and the backspins. Getting to be very frustrating, but I did catch a break when I was able to perform several separate lazy Susans. It's so frustrating to see Mama74 perform those so effortlessly [emoji27]
