West Australian
I got this idea in the Chat Room, Pictures of Kites Landed on or flying against Walls. Pink Floyd Music in the head is optional. Here is my picture to start it:
Paul LaMasters
Indoors we use a smooth wall to slide down against. I've stuck it against the wall and then quickly sat underneath as it slowly descends to end my routine with the kite resting against my head. If you're careful you can use the wall (or ground for that matter) and make the kite "ping-pong" off of it. You have to flex the leading edge and then release it against the surface so it appears to leap away. Too much is a broken frame though so practice, plan and execute this technique with caution.
mystainedskin
I see you are using a full tripod also in the shadow. I use a small "Joby" portable hand sized unit. Alit less space and easier to carry. It will also twist and grab onto just about anything.

We should get a nice mix of perspectives.

Reef Runner
Oh, man, I used to land and take off from the roof tops of cottages, along the beach, when the wind was coming in off the ocean. No pics, though. And now Ian, as for "THE WALL", this is the best that I can do (right now, anyway) !
