Filmed at Jockey's Ridge, Nags Head, N.C. As a manner of perspective, The Rev visible at 13 Seconds in is on 120' lines and handles were staked about 15' in front of us.6 points

Pretty much raw footage.. Video doesn't do it justice.. The colors were vivid in person and the spinning kites had almost a strobe doppler effect.. Camera just doesn't show the colors.6 points

I have found that DC and double-DC kites fly WAY better than traditional flat Deltas. I have a number of both, and that's been my experience. I've talked with others who claim to never have problems with regular deltas, but I find that they have a smaller wind range, and are not very tolerant of anything but smooth wind. Ghost or Pyro deltas are a different story, they are very stable in a wide variety of winds, but the traditional triangle delta is not a set it & forget it kind of kite, they will end up on the ground if not constantly tended to. One exception to this in my collection is an 11' mesh delta, that isn't too bad, but still ends up on the ground unexpectedly. The DC and double DCs can be staked out and fly for hours, and will be in the sky where you left them unless the wind drops. By far, this is my favorite, it flies in 5-25 mph winds, bumpy, choppy, or smooth... all day long.4 points

A massive thank you to oapbill for the sail he sold me I’m starting to think I can do this now , maiden flight was an hour long and in ten minutes I could do more than I have since starting my quad life [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app2 points

Long Beach WA, Aug 19-25 2019, WSIKF This event is in the very early stages of planning at WSIKF 2019 (kitefestival.com), we have already received approval from the event organizers and we’ll announce training / meeting / record attempt schedules for the week along with supporting information, videos, documents and discussion for participants. Festival dates are August 19-25, 2019, in Long Beach WA USA... NOTE AGAIN, this is a 2019 (TWENTY NINETEEN) event but we’re planning and discussing one year ahead so everyone can plan more easily. ALL types of “1.5” sized quad kites would be welcome regardless of brand, and there will be NO FEE to participate. Event page on FB... https://www.facebook.com/events/2063175117276024 WSIKF info... http://kitefestival.com We’ve got great inertia so far. 🤙1 point

Word on the street is that all the “SLE” pattern sails have been Nylon for a little while now, and that these “new” EXP kites will also be Nylon. Remember, it’s a “budget” level kite.1 point

I used to carry my stake in my back pocket... Until the day I did an axel with my Rev (arm sweeps past the hip) and literally stabbed my forearm almost 1” deep on the return motion. Ever since, I exclusively carry my stake in a sheathe that hangs from my rear (center) belt loop.1 point

So happy to hear all that about the Kaiju. Weird about the pic uploads, sometimes an issue with mobile (size limitations) but a desktop unit should work just fine. Any particular errors or symptoms other than the images not appearing?1 point

Hey guys! Well, I've flown the Kaiju a couple of times now, and had a blast doing it! I haven't really been able to do any tricks with it yet, but I'll keep working on it. One of the reasons I wanted to get into kiting was to get outside more and get some more exercise, the Kaiju fits this bill well. After five or ten minutes I had to stop and take a break...lol... So far I've only been able to fly it with two hands. I tried to do it like JB did in the videos, but so far couldn't figure that out. However I can now confirm that this is a surprisingly tuff little kite. I stuffed it straight into the ground a couple times and have dragged the wing tips a few times, but the Kaiju took it in stride. Not that I would recommend doing that, but it's nice to know it's not as frail as it appears to be. And did I mention how beautiful this kite is? Anyway, that's about it for now, just wanted to share my experience so far. It's been a little too windy for the Kaiju lately, but I'll be getting her out next time we get a nice still day. I'll let you know how the next flight goes! Happy flying! P.S. still not having any luck with pics, and I did try on my desktop. I'm sure it's something on my end, but I can't figure it out. Could it just be because I'm still running win7? I know it's pretty out of date now, but haven't really had any other problems and don't really want to "upgrade".1 point

delta are flying in lower winds but any high gust may break the spreader rod. boxed delta need more wind to launch but the vent make them to fly in gusts and high winds without any problem1 point

My knee would definitely not like that setup walk! And God help if you need to do the "walk of shame"!1 point

Thank You. Despite the weight, the kite has surprising low wind capability.1 point

Lets rephrase the question, should every KAP photo (etc.) of a church be considered as not appropriate and therefore should not be even exist? Of course not! That being said, one can be respectful to the living persons being there. If there would be on ongoing funeral it is certainly not the most considerate thing to do to fly close to/over the church at that time, especially with a noisy kite (or multi rotor etc.). On the other side, if one would apply the eventuality of a geographically localized souls argument (as in the above link), close to no photos taken on earth should exist because "residues" of generations over several hundred thousands of years have ended up well mixed with soil and current life everywhere. If you think it takes the fun out of kiting or thinks it is intrusive to people in your surrounding, go up very early when there are few persons around. I think this is close to the usual considerations for any type of kiting that you need to do whenever there are people or traffic around. What density of people (or how close can they be) can it on a beach before it is time to stop flying (not to be intrusive and for safety). How desolate should the parking lot be to be safe? How close to a road can you be without distracting drivers and others?1 point

Ready to fly.. Used red LE, Black accents and edge binding.. Bridles are also red.. Went with a vertical stripe of the poly in the middle to bring the sides together, hard inserts for the bottoms of the verticals as well hard inserts for the ends of the Leading Edge.. Hopefully will get to fly it in the near future..1 point

Another tip for those who often get dizzy, set a conceptual north / south / east / west definition of your flying space, establish “four directions” of the area and feel your face / kite pass each of them no matter what you’re doing, work on placing your landings at the four “compass points”, this all plays into taking control of the space and building physical balance by conceptualizing the space.1 point

For a little newbie homework, here’s an indoor flight pattern to learn and repeat (can also be modified to suit quad): 1 - launch to up and over, land. 2 - launch to 360, land. 3 - launch, left spin, land. 4 - launch, right spin, land. 5 - launch, pancake land. 6 - fade to catch. The key is at each landing: 1 - do a long 3 count. 2 - clear your mind and posture. 3 - go directly into the next segment. Repeat the series until it becomes familiar and more seamless, and this will start to lay the groundwork for “holding patterns” or things that you can do semi-automatically and quite comfortably without falling into survival mode. And also understand, it might, may, it should take you 30-50 attempts to get through the whole series without a reset but it will solidify and improve your overall comfortability indoors, giving you a natural “vocabulary” - then add more components as you grow.1 point
