  1. After much frustration with tanks and pre-built filters (clogging, leaking, dry burning, etc), I've finally made the switch to RDAs... Liking it so far.

  6. I add 7 tabs to the mesh as well, all my new kites now.
  7. It's also getting them past the idea that it's just a toy. Folks often have no problem laying out the same kind of money on drones, cameras, TVs, cell phones, etc. Partially a matter of a realistic understanding of the kite(s) - indeed, very low cost for the return.
  8. Same way I got brought in, hand to hand. A++
  9. Okay, this has been a really long time coming - I'm proud to announce that the following clinics are confirmed for Sandy Beach Park (technically flying at Wawamalu Park) on Oahu, Hawaii. Feb 28-Mar 1: Quad Line Clinic Mar 7-Mar 8: Dual Line Clinic (click for directions) Given the location, it's likely that this will be an intimate little group with lots of attention for participants - TONS of learning and fun, could be good excuse if anyone is looking to take an island vacation in March. I'm also super stoked because joining me at the event will be Scott Aughenbaugh (former member of Team High Performance), a friend who was dominating master class in dual, quad, individual and team when I started off in the early 90s... He set the bar for me, and this will be the first time we've shared a field since the mid-90s. PM me for more info on the off-chance you're thinking about attending!

  10. 19 people on the tentative list to attend thus far, should be a great gathering.
  11. Probably not much use indoors, but I'm sure they can find good places to fly them.
  12. Skyshark is no substitute for 1/4" Rev rods FYI, stiffness is a very important factor.
  13. Remember the deltas are very small and light pulling beginner kites, won't need anything fancy for string. Even the foils should be pretty light on the lines, unless the wind is really cranking.
  14. FYI, we'll be sure to put a max $20 value (and gift classification) on the package if it goes international to make sure the duties will be reasonable.
  15. Wow, simply wow. Thank you Barton, that's beyond awesome. povlhp, you're in good sir!
  16. I'm glad for your entry, but due to shipping costs, all Karma drawings are generally limited to North America (unlike subscriber drawings which include all paid members regardless of home country)... As listed in the lead post: I see no problem making an exception on this drawing, but only if non North American entrant(s) are willing to pay the difference in shipping (anything above $20 is typical)... Shall I count your entry, or no? Just want to be sure. Apologies!

  19. As promised, thanks to Terry! http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/6328-hq-stunt-kite-fun-package-2115/
  20. Hi folks, I'm opening up a one-time variation of the Karma Drawing... The recipient of our last official subscriber drawing (tkrinor aka Terry) is grateful for the win but having a full kite bag already, reckons he won't use the prize package as much as it should be and has elected to donate it back into a pool for someone who may get better use out of it (or know where to distribute them to others). Very kind sir - thank you! Original drawing - http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/6298-hq-stunt-kite-fun-package-11815/ You can see in the images below, there is a Symphony 2.2, Symphony 1.8, Calypso 2 beginner stunt kite, Nimbus beginner stunt kite and two XXL HQ Kites shirts... All in all, a GREAT package for giveaways or on field lessons! So, with that... ANYONE can enter this drawing simply by posting "I'm in" below with no need to reciprocate with a prize if you should win, only that you do your best to see that these prizes affect others positively - either by direct giveaway, giving lessons, or whatever you feel fits the bill, all in good faith. Prize will be drawn on February 1st, 2015. Current entries: povlhp RobB Tmadz RevRookie elmo264 Joespickles Rudy64 Mark Thorn Nick Russell mywindstuff RULES: These drawings are run by and for KiteLife members. If you are a KiteLife member from the US or Canada ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, you are eligible to enter. You do not have to be a paid subscriber. Members from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii are welcome to enter the Karma drawings provided they are willing to pay half of the Karma prize shipping cost. The method and timing of the payment will be agreed upon between the two parties after the drawing for a particular prize. Entry numbers will be given in the order of your entering post and listed above, the drawing will be performed using the RNG method (http://www.random.org/sequences/). Entry into the drawings is done by STARTING a post in the drawing thread with the entry phrase chosen by the drawing host (Traditionally "I'm in", but "I LIKE" has been used as well). In order to remove any confusion or misinterpretation, only entries with posts that START with the phrase will be considered. As with all other KiteLife drawings, bantering is encouraged. This is for fun after all.
  21. Terry has been kind enough to kick this prize back into the fun pool for others, so look for a new post in the Karma section sometime in the next few minutes.

  23. We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... For roughly 10 cents per day they play a major role in keeping KL growing in every way. This is a brand new Jammin' sport kite by Dodd Gross, from Skydog Kites, roughly a $139 value! A good intermediate all-rounder and trick kite, it includes lines and straps, a great addition for any kite bag! http://www.skydogkites.com/stuntkites/jammin.shtml I've actually had personal time on this model before, it's a solid mid-size precision trick kite. (primary prize color is white as pictured) == If you haven't done so already, You can sign up here. Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/344, and will be drawn on February 15th, 2015! Our thanks, and the very best to you... Let the drooling begin.
