  1. 33 confirmed for WSIKF already with 6 months yet to go... We've got pros, novices and everything in-between! This is an awesome chance to participate in one of the largest kite festivals in North America, and mosrt certainly the largest Rev fly ever assembled. Even if you don't feel up to the mega flies, there will be SO MUCH team play and personal coaching available, it's not to be missed! Hope many more of you can make the trip.
  2. I'd say 9-10 equates to overall skill and knowledge... Team and individual, variable wind conditions, knowledge of maneuvers and skill of execution. Owning your hover in ALL orientations gets you to around a 6, being able to reverse in any direction (even a bit wiggly) gets you into the 7 range. That's how I measure it, anyway.
  3. Full info and discussion here... http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3762-100-rev-fly-at-2010-wsikf-aug-16-22
  4. To the best of my knowledge, LaserPro does NOT provide tied line sets any longer... Any discrepancies you may run into would come down to the store or distributor that tied them. One other shop who specializes in both spools and tied line sets that I didn't see mentioned is The Kite Shoppe.
  5. I am currently working with Skydog to obtain some prize items for future drawings.
  6. Aye, that's a winner. Thanks for cross-posting it Duane!
  7. For the record, once you know how to do it, quad lines shouldn't take more than 2-3 minutes to set up and take down, about the same as a dual line. There's a post on the approved methods in the Rev forum somewhere.
  8. Haha, great to hear you've had a good time Duane (and everyone else)... It's a great place to be, this kite life. I've never before met such a genuinely friendly and familial group of people, and it extends damned near worldwide. And yes, next year, for sure... Nothing but fun, and it really is easier than it looks, you have my word.
  9. We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... For roughly 10 cents per day they play a major role in keeping KL growing in every way. Silver Fox 2.5 UL, roughly a $160 value! (prize is white/gray/yellow as shown in the video) http://www.flyingwin...loc=&listpage=1 You can sign up here. Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/243, and will be drawn on February 25th, 2010! Our thanks, and the very best to you... Let the drooling begin
  10. Alright, it's 17 minutes into January 15th here... Your lucky winner is... Number: 2... 1... 6 Yes, subscriber 216, Detlef Griese from Germany! Congrats Detlef, I'll send an email notifying you asap. Thanks for playing all, got some more cool stuff on the way!
  11. Now won't y'all be just *tickled* to know that I'll be out of town for the Windless Festival in Long Beach (WA) this weekend, starting VERY early the morning of the 15th (Friday). I'll try to do the drawing early that morning before we leave or at midnight, but please understand if I can't get to it... Of course, I will do my very best for Friday morning because we don't get home until Sunday night, and turn right around the next morning for a flight to Las Vegas on our way to the KTAI trade show in Primm (NV) from which we return on Friday the 22nd. That following Tuesday, once again, we're off to another festival in South Padre Island (TX) for our first team event of the year. <grin> So basically, including tomorrow, we have roughly 5 days at home for the rest of the month. Miserable, ain't we?
  12. OMG - that totally freaks me out Jon. LOL
  13. Happy birthday bear-buddy.
  14. Just a heads up folks, we've set the dates for WCRC III.... March 19-21 in Long Beach, WA. Full info here - Hope to see you there.
  15. Hey, if it makes it easier you to come out for a weekend more often, so be it.
  16. I know there are a few good fests somewhat "on the circuit" in Oklahoma and Illinois, I'm sure there's some stuff closer too, but you might very pop onto the Rev forum and post outright - "who's in my area?" http://www.revkites.com/forum/ Super friendly folks there too, can't go wrong... A bunch of them have dual lines too, certainly no prejudice... You could at least get turned onto a good fly somewhere. The closest my crew (iQuad) and I have gotten to your area is the Frank Mots Festival in Milwaukee (WI - Sep), Great Lakes Festival in Grand Haven (MI - May) and the SPI Festival in South Padre Island (TX - Jan), all of which we do pretty much on an annual basis.... Just 3 of 12-20 events we do every year all over the country, as well as past trips to Colombia, Japan and England. Hoping to get into the middle states a bit more, lots of folks like yourself I'd love to meet and fly with.
  17. I'd post a picture of our kite room, but it's a dreadful mess. Small bedroom with closet, does nicely, at least until we have a kid or two. (no, no, nothing brewing yet - just saying)
  18. Lookin' great Duane! That's a custom job, suited to match Guru's own Rev... Can do the same for anyone who is interested, no extra charge, just send me a note via PM or email.
  19. Well, one good turn and all that... http://kckiteclub.org/ Glad to have you here James, the more the merrier. There are a couple of busier forums, but you'll be hard pressed to find any more consistently friendly and helpful. Except for the Rev forum of course, but we have a big overlap in membership between the two.
  20. Well said Hedge, words from the wise.
  21. Been on the "to do" list for quite a while... I just haven't been able to make the time. If someone sends 'em to me, I'll be happy to create such a section.
  22. And here I was, thinking y'all would forget this one.
  23. Best of luck for a speedy recovery brother. We'll be out doing team moves before ya know it! Grrr... If the rain would clear, I'd be out on my dock right now.
  24. Aye, when in doubt, get both.
  25. I'd add that Rev's are WAY harder to break, and within 6 months, with broken spars on a dual line, you'll likely to 'break' even anyway. For a first dual line kite, I think that's a really fair price point to look at... There are some very good, durable kites out there for that price. Not trick monsters or precision demons granted, but good all around fliers that will "ramp you up" to a point where you can consider more specialized kites in the future. For Revs, the "jump in" point is around $160 or so for a Revolution EXP.
