Cool stuff, eh? It's always safe to assume the following... When I call "GO"... You fly in the direction your leading edge is facing. When I say "to the edges", your leading edge is facing one edge of the window and you fly that way. What makes quad team easy is that every turn is prefaced with simple instructions, and then a "GO" for you to execute it. Example (assume a group of 8): To start... "All kites in horizontal line, facing up." at which point we all hover in a line, facing up... #1 on the right, last kite on the kite. "90 degree anti-clockwise pinwheel...... GO!" This puts us in a vertical line, facing left. "All kites face up... GO!" "Odd kites face right, even kites face left... GO!" "To the edges... GO!" "STOP!" (when kites reach the edges) "180 in place.... GO" (to face back in towards the center) "GO" (in the direction your leading edge is facing, to center) "STOP" (when kites reach the same vertical line) "All kites face up... GO!" "90 degree anti-clockwise pinwheel... GO!" (all kites are now facing right, in horizontal line) "All kites face up... GO!" "Big ball... GO!" (all kites collapse to ball) "Slow burst... GO!" "STOP!" "Back it in... GO!" (all kites reverse back to the ball) "Back to line... GO!" (all kites back to horizontal line facing up) "Two groups of 4, to ball... GO!" (two balls of four) "Slow burst... GO!" (two balls do a burst side by side) Etc, etc... You get the idea. It's easier than you might think, and you'll all catch on fast. Also, by the time the week is over... You'll be much more skilled, something about team flying has this effect.

You know what they say about grown men playing with their Bols... *giggle*

The only maneuvers available ahead of time can be found here... http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue49/r...ons49/index.htm Otherwise, we'll be sketching stuff out on a large dry erase board... Or, the fliers who have "been around the block" already will demonstrate.

80#/90# is the most versatile set of lines... They'll work all the way up to about 25mph for the average flier, or up to about 35mph in skilled hands. No requirement on apparel... But it is guaranteed to increase your quad sexiness by a minimum of 45%! Take your pick - http://www.cafepress.com/kitelife/1468529

All good fun, you'll do fine.

Here's a review we did on the Acrobatx, if it's of interest. http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue46/a...atx46/index.htm
-
No worries, the Acrobatx wouldn't overmatch you... But, it can grow with you quite a ways.
-
You mean the event this September? Probably not, it's not as well attended. But, our iQuad team (4-6 members) will likely be there.
-
Chet, here's another thread on this forum which gets into selection of a kite in that price range... http://kitelife.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1042 Browse through it a bit, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Of course, feel free to post any follow up questions.

Greetings, I'd like to once again rally our visitors to consider becoming official Kitelife Subscribers, if you haven't done so already... Our subscribers help suport the massive archives and projects going on here at Kitelife, making it possible to bring this kind of content to people all over the world. One of the best features of our subscribers section is the 37 videos from festivals and competitions around the world (as of 8/9/06)... As opposed to the 320x240 versions in the public video archives, most of these are in a much larger 720x480 format, and many of them are also available for download in iPod format! There's also a sizable photo gallery in the subscribers section which contains many photos that aren't found in the main (public) Kitelife archives... Most of them in full resolution. Also, in the forum's photo gallery, subscribers can post up to 100MB of their own photos (regular members can only post 5MB)... A great place to store and share you favorite kiting photos with people from all over the world! Subscribers are also entered into our monthly prize drawings... Every month, we give away great prizes to our official supporters! For a complete list of past winners and prizes, click here. Attention... Due to some spammers registering here and posting unrelated drug and unsavory web content, "validating" members can no longer start or reply to topics on the Kitelife forum. Q: What does "validating" mean? A: When you register, an email is sent to the email address you registered to the forum with... In that email is a link, by clicking it the user simply verifies that they have indeed used a real email address and are then granted full use of the forum. Pretty straight forward - again, we do this to ensure that our lovely kite forum is not cluttered with the garbage so many of us are tired of seeing... Viagra, casinos, and all the other spam fodder. If you used a real email address and have not gotten your validation email from us, look for the "Resend Validation Email" link near the upper right corner of the forum page... If you have any problems, feel free to email me for help. Thanks everyone!

If you're on the list and won't be able to make it, same thing, please let us know. Let's blow this festival wide open with some quad goodness! This thread is also going on GWTW, found here... http://gwtw-kites.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=29752&
-
Sorry to say, I won't be able to make this one.
-
Here's the list... Posted on GWTW. http://gwtw-kites.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=29752& Penny, order a 120' set! We're going to be on short supply... Any "hard core" Rev flier should have a set of these on hand... Theresa might have some on hand for sale at WSIKF, if needed. I'm going to prioritize the extra sets to people who aren't "hard core" yet... It's the least I can do, to encourage their participation.
-
1) I might have an extra 120' set for you. 2) We can work on control for the first couple days, see if it's within reach. 3) No ape, if you whack him about the head and shoulders with a banana pie.
-
For a Wren, outdoors, best line is probably 50' of 50#... For indoor use, 12' is probably the right length to fit in just about any indoor venue, same strength.
-
To be quite honest, I don't have any experience with the Pyro... Although, I'm sure someone else here might be able to comment on some of the differences between the two kites?
-
Tons of new Kitelife gear...
John Barresi replied to John Barresi's topic in News from the Webmaster
Hrm... I don't know of one, sorry. -
Oh, and get some 50# lines too... Makes all the difference in the world. Ed, are you going to WSIKF? If so, I should put you on the mega quad team list... We have 20 lined up right now.
-
Yep, Wren would work.
