  1. Safely Home.. It was awesome. Looking forward to the next opportunity to fly..
  2. It wasn't the T-Shirt!!! It was the Maple-Bacon Donuts!!!!
  3. "All You Can Eat" was identified up front.. Is it a limit or a goal??? Besides, I needed my kiting energy recharged..
  4. What a great weekend of flying and learning.. Sunday, we were fortunate to receive a day with SUL conditions in the AM; gradually increasing in skill AND wind intensity to full vent conditions late afternoon. This was a day that kiters dream of. Thanks @John Barresi for a great Clinic and lifetime of things to continue to work on.. 5-stars To all the others at the clinic.. IT was an absolute blast flying with you all.. I look forward to doing so again soon..
  5. Nigel It was awesome meeting and flying with you. I hope we can do it again soon.
  6. We had an absolute blast today hanging out with Cath and Eliot up at Flying Smiles.. Winds were whipping so we all flew my small mesh.
  7. I checked it out on Google Earth.. It's also about 5 miles to Flying Smiles.. Image Credit, Captured from Google Earth..
  8. FWIW, I sent out a group message so we can exchange contact info and stay in touch..
  9. Just curious.. Who will be interested in the night fly? We can do it any evening. I'll supply the lights. You supply the kites and pilot. And nothing says we only do it once. I'm bringing literally hundreds of lights. We could do a preliminary flight on Friday evening near the house.. Beach access very close. Anyone???
  10. Pretty sure I've Seen it, (or at least my personal version of it).. I throw stacks remember??? It didn't work a lot of times before I figured out the right way to do it.. I Learned a lot flying Terry's stack.. Boy is he missed...
  11. Be Careful,, we'll be calling you "biscuit" the whole weekend.. The good new is you'll be there learning with all of us..
  12. While those kites are probably the same source, OSK does do some pretty agressuve quality control on the manufacturing process. Ive not seen an out of place stitch yet and I've looked very closely. I'd never presume to tell anyone what to buy but I've been happy with all of mine so far.
  13. No he just turned off the sound on his cellphone..
  14. Try to avoid trusting it directly overhead. A good gust comes along and you are 10ft (or more) off the ground with very few good options. Try to explore the left and right edges of the window. Easier to react to uncertainty there.
  15. One thing about a big kite, You'll learn and know the Wind window very well out of necessity alone..
  16. But bottom line when it comes to the powerkite scene.. Please practice Safety over Adventure until you know yours and the kite's boundaries.. That way, if you're going to take a risk, you are aware of it fully..Be Safe..
  17. 8M Toxic at the Wright Memorial By riffclown 0 Here's Chris Shultz from HQ Kites flying my 8M at the Wright Memorial.. and yes it does pull like a train.. The 4M Crossfire pulls too..Chris Shultz again flying my 4M at the Rogallo.. (Jockey's Ridge) Probably a +300ft Scudding Exhibition
  18. In my profile pic I'm flying a 2.5M Bullet (bottom) if I remember correctly.. With those handles it was either the 2.5 Bullet or the 4.5.. I've also been flying Powerkites for quite some time. I didn't start with a 5M.. My first Power kite was a 2M and then followed by a 4M once I learned the respect for what the wind could do.. My HQ Crossfires and my 8M HQ Toxic all have HQ Handles.. Flexifoil Bullet 2.5 By riffclown 0 0
  19. Please tell me this isn't your only foray into powerkiting.. That's a lot of kite to start with.. either way.. Please be careful with that kite.. A 5M kite can seriously hurt you. Don't be a statistic..
  20. I'm glad you got it straightened out.. Enjoy that kite
  21. A trick I've seen Khal do many time to check the entire chain of Handles, Lines and Kite is to put the kite in launch position, Place the handles together exactly side by side and launch, If the kite rises vertically, you are good to go.. If it drifts or turns then adjust, lines, knots or bridles accordingly.. Everything might be perfect line wise and you might find the smallest kink in the bridle or the knot is twisted or some other thing you wouldn't notice otherwise.... New lines especially might need to be equalized a few times before they are "locked in" pretty well..
