  1. (1) 120' x 100# Skybond ready for April.. I've decided I will make a 240-ish foot set with the other spool. If I need to chop them down for the clinic we can always have a quick tutorial (before or after) when we aren't flying, on "making and sleeving lines." Everything is an opportunity. Once you start making your own custom lines, you'll rarely buy precut again unless you are in a big hurry or need to equip a large team..
  2. Ditto, was a great time.. You were missed..
  3. Since I buy bulk line and make my own linesets, it's easier to make the long set first and then cut later when I'm through playing with them. I don't like flying with connections in the middle of the lines.. It increases drag horribly and too many things can go wrong, especially if the joint is where the lines will cross when twisted...
  4. Finally some kite time.. With forecasts in the mid-upper sixties and winds forecast on +10mph I had to get some kite time today. Fortunately, Khal was available and we went to one of his kite spots.. The winds were quite variable and we collectively flew everything from the Ghost SUL to the 40% Shook. It was amazing how we finally set up a SUL, a B-series full sail and the Shook.. We flew each when the conditions were right and moved to the more appropriate kite when conditions changed. it was one of those days when a 40% Mesh with 2 warp and 50# lines was a good fit a significant amount of the time. All in all it was refreshing to finally get some air time. During one period of very light winds, I decided to stake out the first 1000' spool of Skybond. Per a previous agreement, we split it in half with him getting 500' and I cut my half into two 250' segments. I found the midpoint and wrapped them from there leaving the 4 bare ends available for me to sleeve this evening..Tomorrow, I'll run the lines out again, measure, cut, sleeve, and equalize and I'll have my 120', set. It's forecast to be another decent day and even short sleeve weather again so...... Hopefully I get time to split the other spool up in time for the clinic. Planning to make a another (2) 120' sets. I'm very tempted to make the 240'-ish set and cut it later. I really want to try very long lines once or twice.
  5. I know how you feel. There's already a demand for the Zens..
  6. Read the disclaimer please Stakes can be very cheaply made but safety first...
  7. What linesets are recommended? (length) Ordered 2000ft of 100# Skybond today. would make a 500' set 😀
  8. I have a 40% &75%. They really fly well in a wide range of conditions you wouldn't expect them to. Simply great kites from a great craftsman.
  9. Eliot does Stellar work.. 75% highly Recommended..
  10. Mine too and agreed.. I just couldn't resist the gentle rub there..
  11. I'll have to take your word for it.. I won't be flying one myself..
  12. Actually, IMO, that's them pointing out where they removed JB's name from the center panel.... If you really want to know how Revolution feels about U, take a look at Lolly's Youtube page.. She didn't even put U in RevolUtion.. Lolly Revoltion Kites https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUyKDlYcTidUNQvZ58qpwfg
  13. That's a tall order. No one kite will do it all. HQ Kites Matrixx comes to mind as a good start since it is a great Depower Water kite. Size though will vary based on conditions and your weight/skill level. Lots of water kites will make great snow kites. The reverse isn't necessarily true. You need a closed baffle or LEI (leading edge inflatable) kite for water. Otherwise the kite will fill with water in the event of a water landing. The risk with a closed baffle system on land is increased possibility of blowing a baffle or the kite itself in a hard landing.
  14. Per the Revolution Website of old.. Styx tried to write Dennis DeYoung out of their history too.. Without him, they are just a cover band..
  15. The B stood for Barresi signature Series.. They took his name off and kept everything else.. I was under the impression is was his panel layout.. @John Barresi is probably the only one who knows for sure.
  16. There are several names for it.. B-Flex B-Cause they can B-Tray,, The company that's shouted the loudest about copies to avoid paying the originators is now guilty of copying themselves, too and for the same reason. How sad...
  17. When you start modifying the stock handles, be very careful. Some very sharp edges exist below those neoprene caps.
  18. My Reflex handles were fixed and had knots much like regular handles. The only difference was the Reflex handles are snagless. While the cord does run the full length of the handle, there's no mechanism to adjut it without tying/untying knots.
  19. It's actually getting harder to tell if you look at Revolution's website.. They are calling it the Reflex 1.5 Classic now.
  20. Where you live is also a factor. . . I live in denial..
