  1. onshore winds definitely make a huge difference..
  2. Piecework for the center panel is done. Decided on 3 vertical orange panels to define the middle. I tried several pics to get the UV/Flo Yellow effect and got a pretty good capture.. First with the black light only.. Next is normal light Then Both Only this portion of the kite lights up. (unless I decide to use fluorescent thread.) I have not yet checked the white Dacron to see if it will light up well. Would be an interesting LE effect if it does..
  3. The Flo yellow near the center really pops in black light.. Can't take a good picture of the effect though..
  4. The Evil kite will be later...
  5. And the first overall look before I start aligning and working out the center pattern.. Center pattern is one of the trickier parts of my builds. Those pieces are individually placed and I have to find colors to keep the same color from being side by side.. It is easier when the kite is lots of colors like this one as I can choose any color from the pallette. It gets much trickier when the kites are 4 colors or less since my standard builds aren't mirrors of the other side but complimentary and offset..
  6. Thanks.. Second panel is basted.. will start the piecework for center panl and hopefully get this sewn up for the weekend..
  7. 1st panel is basted and ready for sewing.. Here's how it looks in daylight and backlit.
  8. Cleaning up the scraps on hand with the new year. Scrapestry III is beginning to take place. (Crazy quilt was technically Scrapestry II)
  9. @Breezin Depending on where you are, I'm not sure which issue you are trying to address..
  10. You'd definitely need the right kite for the conditions..
  11. That's one of my personal favorite times to fly..
  12. I don't know.. LW = Low Wind WW = What Wind???
  13. @Wayne Dowler I'm way out of my element talking dual lines but i did find this pic..
  14. Actually you gain a minuscule amount of HANDLE length. You are moving the pivot point of the line attachment from the hog rings all the way to the ends of the handles. Will gain about 3/16" or so at each end. You will lose a small amount of leader length because your attachment point is no longer the hog rings but an internal screw head. You are losing that from both top and bottom so it does equal out. Exploded view for reference.. The hole is where the hog ring was. (I sand the burrs off)
  15. And a HUGE warning if you are converting. Be very careful when you take the hog rings out and the vinyl caps off. The burr underneath where the holes are is typically VERY sharp and will slice your finger/hand quite easily..
  16. Renaming the topic so I can find it easier later
  17. I was going to ask that question privately so !!!!! Double WOOOT!!
  18. One small note when recommending anything other than Skybond or LPG. When flying alone, literally anything with near zero stretch that works for you is ideal. When flying around others, whether team or just sharing the field, please stick to Skybond or LPG. Other lines will easily cut other individual's lines.. One of the main reasons we recommend Skybond and LPG to all is almost zero stretch, great wear capability and most importantly, they play well with others.. Getting the lines crossed with those is far less likely to result in a cut line or downed kite. The Shanti Speedline is IIRC a precursor to the Skybond and should also play well with others. Of that I'm not entirely sure.
