  1. I'll probably make several of them.. just trying to decide which one to start with..
  2. @Wayne Dowler These two pics are of the same kite from the video above. You can see where the diamonds pattern is a complete offset from the other side of the sail. First pic is one side. Second is both sides with the sail folded in half.
  3. FWIW, a center panel would actually make my kites easier to construct.. The piecework in the middle is the most difficult part of the build. The strips from one side construct the strips for the other side.. As I flip them over and marry to the other side the design becomes purely complimentary but never symmetrical. Fold my kites in half and hold them up to the light and you will see only stripes, not the diamonds per say. For instance, on pic #1, notice the red on one side is white on the other unless it's a strip from LE to TE like the first stripe of blue.. #5 is only symmetrical until the strip direction changes and then becomes complimentary.. It's kind of hard to explain but the key point is it produces a good pattern with almost no waste.. I'll fold a sail and take a backlit picture this evening to show you th effect.. it's actually pretty cool to see.. ..
  4. Yes you are.. you eliminated #4 from your range.. FWIW, due to the way my build technique works, to make a sail Symmetrical, I have to actually make 2 sails..
  5. Help me decide my next project?? Any suggestions would be welcome..
  6. The instruction here work well.. You'll need to tweak the measurements a bit. On smaller sails you also need to start considering the added weight of the rear bridles.
  7. @cerfvoliste We paused it during the holidays..
  8. @DTill The Rods with the Green Trim are part of Revolutions new formulation to counter "counterfeiting" Rev will tell you flat out there is no difference but as you have already found the weight is different and the flex is very different. For at least a short period of time the GT (green trimmed) rods were very prone to breakage. almost always into 3 pieces with the breaks about an inch from the green. Rev "corrected" that issue but never officially acknowledged there was an issue. I'm unaware of a method to discern between the ones prone to breakage and those that are corrected. There was a big topic on those rods and the differences when they first started showing up. The meat of the conversations starts around the 2nd or third page in https://kitelife.com/forum/topic/7033-rods-the-difference/page/3/
  9. @John Barresi Any way to get the Chat footer toolbar back?? It's been MIA since the upgrades..
  10. One location in Colorado Springs recorded a 97MPH wind gust..
  11. While chat is still available via the chat link at the top of the page, that chat bar has been MIA since the upgrades.. Chat is also accessible and working via the link or a direct link https://kitelife.com/forum/member-chat/
  12. Love the low wind capability of this kite with the deeper belly adding quite a bit of additional sail area.
  13. From the album: Riffclown's Homemades

    3-11-2019 Latest build Fist flight.
  14. Edge Binding and Framing remain.
  15. This sail was started a few weeks ago and has been progressing in a very timely manner. No rush is on this sail to finish right away. Adding much larger solid panels to the Diamonds build technique. After a bit of consulting, the direction of the diamonds was tilted to give a related but different effect. Charcoal and Sky Blue are Icarex, Midnight is the Challenge PolyMax. LE will be white. Still considering options for the Edge binding.. Thinking Black.
  16. @gmrviper Actually you are fine. You have the topic over in Quad Heads which should give you some good feedback. We've all gone through varying stages of learning what we want.. The best advice you'll get is to fly other people's kites (known as OPK) until you have an idea of what would be best for you. As a group we can work with you over there and return to this topic when you are ready. I'll create a link here and lock it down for you.. Hit me up via PM or Chat when you'd like this unlocked.
  17. @Bryant Welcome to KiteLife Many of us buy bulk and make our own. Most reputable kite business carry multiple lengths, http://www.thekiteshoppe.com/categories.php?category=Kite-Line/LPG-90%23-Quad-Sets https://intothewind.com/stunt-kite-line-and-handles I personally tend to make longer sets and cut them down as I get wear or breaks.
