  1. @Breezin The undeniable fact that your answer was kite related absolutely proves my point. You are already there.. Resistance is futile. It IS your destiny.
  2. This project is complete unless I need to tweak after flight testing...
  3. If you are on the fence about these clinics, it's amazing just flying with this guy. Getting instruction from him is just as enlightening.. And if you're not very careful, You'll have a ton of fun and skills you didn't know were possible.. (a few vids shot on site at Corolla Last year.)
  4. I thought about it but decided to go with the white for this venture.. Thought you'd be pleased that I actually did edge binding on something..
  5. I get the pleasure of selling Revs and Freileins to buy Djinns
  6. Actually my colors for these are a secret..for now..
  7. OK Decided to just go with the overlap. Edge Binding is done. Ready to attach to the LE now. How much camber do I want in this kites leading edge? I''m thinking about an inch of Camber on this one.. just a little float but enough to keep the tension in the belly.

The two panels of The Jester overlaid and backlit. IMO, it produces some very nice color interactions I'd like to incorporate a bit more.

LE Completed. Ready to attach and finish
  10. Finished The LE Sleeve this morning.. I still need to figure out how I want the center section to look. I may just allow the overlap. The two overlapped colors, when backlit by the sun, provide some very interesting color interactions.. Thoughts?? Once I figure that out, I can start hemming and finishing. Hope to have this framed and bridled by tonight..
  11. New Karma is up.. Locking this one down.
  12. That's the one that is mine, right???
  13. Honestly, I didn't even know that.. The colors are what I had.
  14. I'd prefer flight testing but we'll see It will undoubtedly see 240' lines at some point.. (probably April)

being snowed in, I thought I'd make a kite today.. This is what popped out of my head so far. FS#12
  16. aka "Snowed In, I'll make a Kite!!" After having so much fun with @Polo's colorizer I decided to play with complimentary colors so I started a new sail today. Had some Blue and Orange from a Flymarket blowout sometime back. I'm researching for my Fractal design that's been in my head for over a year now... As of this post it's all double-sided Sewing Tape holding it in place. Now to make the LE Sleeve and start sewing.. Plans are for this to be a 1.5 sized sail. Kept it fairly symmetrical for this venture. I guess technically this should be consider FS#12. Given the lazy Harlequin pattern, I think I'll call it "The Jester!" The Fractal Concept Drawing

RE: Flying near Airports. Check with the local Airfield Management and they will provide you with appropriate guidelines. Be prepared for "That's not allowed" In my case it was "here are the areas you can fly and stay on lines less than 100ft." FAA Guidelines pertain to kites anything over 500 feet within 5 miles of an airport. However, you can apply for an official kite-flying waiver through the FAA if you want to fly a kite under 150 feet near an airport. Short version is as long as your kite weighs less than 5 pounds, your lines are less than (in my case) 100 feet AND you get permission, you are OK.. I fly very often within visual site of an active runway. Know the rules, get permission but VERY IMPORTANTLY be safe. You are an ambassador for us all when you do these things. The Key is to know the laws and be able to demonstrate you will be staying within those laws. Keep in mind the rules are written from the vantage point of protecting the Aircraft. Don't become the reason the rules are rewritten. Then we all suffer.

Rev1 for $125.. That's not a bad deal and would be fine to learn on. Moving forward though, I'd advise you to lean towards the 1.5 size as your continuation point.. That's the one thing all the current companies seem to agree with. Personally, my next kite will be a Djinn.. You've mentioned how you like to fly your snapshot.. Maybe consider a Symphony 2.2.4 as a quad line transition? It still flies as a dual but capable of many quadline maneuvers. It also has the resiliency of a foil. And in a bit higher wind,
  19. I'm ready to test in East Coast Winds.. Sign and send...
