I haven't flown mine on longer lines so couldn't say,

That’s mine, made by Mikey Devereaux, Ive seen a few others this is the best imho.

Definitely get/make some longer leaders, it will take all that race out of your sail, you'll still be able to go forward fast just when you choose, search leaders on this site.

As you look at the back of the kite the left hand controls the left side, and the right the right.

Do you have longer leaders than the stock ones?

I’m glad all that messy stuff has disappeared from the leading edge, I’m getting zero snags, and seems to be launchable from any ground position, be interested to see what you do to an already incredible sail to make it ‘better’.
