What!!!! It'd just get damp and moldy in that area of the country. It needs to be out here on the plains where the wind has been more than gentle this spring.
Cheers,
Tom
Yes, we've sent at least two prizes to the UK... Some to Netherlands, Japan and Latin countries as well.
Yes well, how about some place really off the beaten path? Something like the middle of Illinois? Now that would be cool!!!
Cheers,
Tom
Different kite makers like different thread. Either polyester or nylon will work well ... just don't use cotton. Gutermann thread (poly) from JoAnn Fabrics is a readily available thread throughout the USA that many kite builders recommend.
You might think about dropping in on Kitebuilders.com for a visit. Lots of building expertise there.
Cheers,
Tom
Oh yes!!! What a neat stack those kites would make. Now, this one I can really get excited about!!!
Thanks John ... and thanks to Revolution for six weeks of daydreaming.
Cheers,
Tom
Well darn, looks like the RNG has a funny sense of humor ... Nick won on Christmas ... congrats!!!
Cheers,
Tom
PS ... you do know that it's only half a kite ... it's only got two strings!!!
Congrats Jay ...
Yep, the dark side it is. Once you get into Revs, you'll have lots of spare cash from selling those now unused dual line things.
Do call Dave up and talk to him. Dave is a true kite enthusiast and people person, but definitely not a website designer or maintainer. He's got many more kites in inventory or storage than he has on the website. You might find he has an older kite in inventory that will stretch your winnings quite far. If he's recently stumbled upon one about the time you call, he'll make you an offer you simply can't refuse.
Cheers and congrats,
Tom
PS ... you could simply pay off my latest bill ... you could still correctly claim that you paid for a Rev ...
Sorry folks, I've employed a new method for this drawing. Just got the notification from Dave that my new kite was shipped this afternoon ... first Rev 1 in the kite bag. So, I'm SO SURE of my number being drawn that the money has already been spent.
Again, sorry folks,
Tom
Just checked on the Harbor Freight website and a dremmel-like tool with a number of cutoff wheels is selling for $8.99 with $6.99 flat rate shipping. Since there's a risk of damaging a $5~$11 rod (technically a tube if it's hollow) by "sawing" off the end, a $16 investment might be a good option.
Masking tape and a very, very fine blade hobby saw actually does a better job on small diameter fiberglass rods (not hollow) than the powered cutoff wheel.
Cheers,
Tom
Don't use IE except for when I'm forced to by Microsoft. Tried Chrome, but it keeps wanting too much control ... seems like it keeps making changes that I have to correct. Switched over to Firefox and have never looked back. Been on this forum for about four years ... three with Firefox. The only problem I have is jumping computers. Grab the trip computer and I have to sign in every time. Once in awhile it'll also make me sign in when we move to a new hotel.
I use XP (three computers), Vista (1 computer) and Windows 7 (2 computers) ... three laptops and three desktops.
Cheers,
Tom
That *&^%$ RNG seems to be just plain mean this morning. Dances ALL around my member number from expired membership to expired membership, till it gets lazy and jumps to the newest memberships. Darn, can't the RNG stick to a plan?
Well, I do congratulate Ron, it's a beautiful kite. Here's hoping he gets tons of enjoyment out of it.
Thanks also to John for the contests ... they bring hours of wishful dreaming.
Cheers,
Tom
Okay John, it's time to think about giving the RNG a nice meal of bits and bytes before sending it to bed. It needs to be well rested tomorrow morning so it can quickly come up with the winning number ... namely #477.
Cheers,
Tom
Mumble, mumble, mumble ... darn, darn, darn ... well, alright ... Congrats Karen. Seriously, I'm glad it went to someone who is getting started in the Rev side of kiting. The RNG did well.
Cheers,
Tom
Or, it might have been when John was in France ... in which case it was really late afternoon when he sent it!!! Darn, then it wouldn't be a Blue Moon occurrence after all.
Cheers,
Tom
PS ... where did the edit button go to???
Hey, I'll have you know that last week I got an email that he wrote at 6:30 a.m. PDT!
Hmmm, that might fall into the category of Blue Moon ... and no, I don't mean the beer.
Cheers,
Tom
Psst, john ...... JOHN ...... JOHN ...... JOHN!!!!
Damn, but that boy can sleep like a teenager. Well, when you get around to it, maybe you can hint to the RNG that a mid-range number would be appreciated this time around.
Cheers,
Tom
