  1. Never happen ... only a very warm welcome to a very enjoyable facet of kite flying. Do try hard to fly with other Rev folks. An afternoon with some team flying will teach you more than a month of flying by yourself. There are some really great Rev teachers out there ... take advantage of their knowledge when you meet them on a flying field. In only three minutes, Bazzer taught me how to do a move I'd been struggling with for some time. It was like he had just learned the move yesterday and knew exactly the piece of knowledge I was missing. Cheers, Tom
  2. The closest Rev flyer, who's active that is, lives about 80 miles away. Thus, most of my flying is solo. Setup and breakdown are both about an eight minute process ... about the same length of time as for my SLKs. The fun with flying Revs comes from challenging myself to learn to control the kite and make it do what I want it to do. Maybe I'm just a slow learner, but even after four years, the Rev still is a challenge to be flown smoothly in all situations. As to the social thing, that's just icing on the cake .. Cheers, Tom
  3. Congrats Joe ... enjoy! Cheers, Tom
  4. Hey Mitch, let me be the first to congratulate you, Neat prize! Cheers, Tom *&^$$& RNG
  5. Nope, most likely not!!! Cheers, Tom Sent from my plain old computer using the keyboard ...
  6. Once again Wayne, the offer still stands ... I'll let you fly my new mid-vent at WSIKF. Cheers, Tom
  7. Congrats Rob ... glad to see they'll see air time. Cheers, Tom
  8. Pssst ... okay John it's now officially the 4th ... shake the RNG up from it's night of debauchery ... lets see who are the 303 other folks I get to commiserate with this fine day. Happy 4th to one and all ... even our British friends!!! Cheers, Tom
  9. Shhh ... not so loud. Oh well, probably wouldn't help. If there were only you, me and the fence post with valid numbers, the fence post would have a full kite bag. Geez. Cheers, Tom
  10. "Victoria's" heart is broken that she won't have a playmate, but congrats still are in order to Jeryl. Hope you enjoy your new kite. Cheers, Tom
  11. And you didn't buy her one!!! Shame on you. Cheers, Tom
  12. Measure the inside diameter of the tubes. Most non-Rev sport kites are built around arrow shaft spin off tubes, thus they have an internal diameter of 0.244 inches. Rev tubes (rods) have a slightly different internal diameter since they make their own product. The carbon fiber arrow shafts are made by wrapping carbon fiber cloth around a steel mandrel, curing the epoxy, removing the mandrel and dressing up the final product to length. The outside diameter is an indication of the stiffness of the tube (other, non-measurable variables will affect stiffness also) and will help you decide on a replacement tube. With inner diameter, outer diameter and length in hand, look at this website to see if anything comes close. Look under the P-series tubes first since they're the most commonly used. If that fails, then call Jon at Skyburner and ask for his help ... he's an extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful individual. Cheers, Tom
  13. Even if it's all white and doesn't have a hint of lime green on it, this one would make a great addition to my kite bag. It would keep "Victoria", my white and lime green SUL, company. They could talk about how lucky there both were to be won by such a charming fellow as Jeepster. So, as Pete suggests commented, a wee bit of luck to all of you and the lions share to me on this kite. Cheers, Tom
  14. Pete, put the wine bottle down ... come on out of the celler ... here try on this nice white coat ... yep, the sleves are a little long ... well, buckles and straps are "in" right now. Cheers, Tom
  15. Been out of the country flying on the beaches of Mexico for a week. Just got back and checked to see if you'd already shipped the Widow Maker to me. Almost had a heart attack with your list: Thought for sure it was my number!!! Congrats to Fred and Donna ... hope you enjoy your kite. Cheers, Tom
  16. Congrats ... yep, Version 2 is definately an improvment over the first version. Or, is it that you just have more time to enjoy them? Cheers, Tom
  17. Oh come on John ... draw early ... that way most of us can get on to dreaming about the next kite!!!! Or, I'll wait for a late drawing if the next one is a Lime Pro from Barry ... now that would definately fall into the yummy catagoery. Cheers, Tom
  18. Well, not true John ... Don and Cyd from Wisconsin, Donna Hutchins from Missouri, and Steve and his son, David, from Illinois were there. It's just that without me there, it does seem rather quiet!!! Next year I'll be back!!! Cheers, Tom
  19. Hmmm, that's a new form of RNG intimidation. Cheers, Tom
  20. Going to miss it this year Pete ... other commitments. Hope you enjoy. Cheers, Tom
  21. Well folks, this has just been a test of the member number drawing system ... if it had been a real event, then my number would have been drawn. Oh well, darn ... Congrats James ... hope you enjoy your new kite. Cheers, Tom
