Try adding that step back! Tighten the lines and step back as you move the thumbs to launch position. The purpose of the longer top leaders is to give you back some of the control you lose by going too "in". Launching is just the start - why base all your setup around only one facet of flying??
-
Now that is a "B" standard!!
-
Is that your kite? Not a "B" series at all, but a Reflex.
-
PS: John sells replacement leaders here on the site - they are even longer than the stock ones!!
-
Try going out as far as you can on the leaders. Try launching, if too hard or no go, move in a knot. Keep this up til you can launch. You may need to add a step back into your launch routine to make it work. Leaving the lines out towards the ends will increase your control, especially if the wind gusts. You take control, not let the kite do as it wants!

Not sure. I know they are pushing the Club 38 thing pretty hard again. How much info for beginners?? NO CLUE! I'm pretty sure there must be some info to help climb the levels in the program. but how much is sent with the kite?

Just a reminder that this show will air Saturday and Sunday 4 pm PST. KGW - Grant's Getaways. If you miss it (how I can't imagine) there will be links to the show on his website after it airs.

Above ^^^^^! Just was going to ask your skill level - beginner, some experience, veteran? Flown dual lines before? All info helps us know how best to help you!!

Looks like in his OP that he is from Alabama.

While the kite can fly in those winds - there are a few drawbacks to doing so. 1 - The sail stretches. In higher winds you'll usually use a stiffer frame that flexes less. Where do all the stresses go? You got it - right in the sail/ Fly in big winds and you will get it out of shape and guess what - there is no going back! 2 - Loss of control. You will find as you get a vented, that the vents will smooth things out. The gusts or high winds don't make the kite "jumpy". Much easier to maintain control. That is why all the types within a model, as a team flier we strive to get equal response to everyone's kite. Having the different sails allows us to match our equipment to the day's conditions better and make our flying experience better, not just hanging on! 3 - Once you experience a vented kite, you'll probably look forward to windier days. Venteds are so much fun to fly!

He did say cheap - I wouldn't call the Pro Dancer that, by any means!

With an entire indoor soccer field at our disposal, this one day event will not include demonstrations or special guests - instead, the focus will be providing ample space all day for everyone who attends (field can accommodate between 7-10 fliers at one time, depending on average skill level... In short terms, there is TONS of space and everyone can get in a lot of flight time on various kites. IMPORTANT DETAILS:The entire space is being rented just for the fliers ($500 for the day) and *there is a cover charge of $25 for anyone 16 and older* so 20 participants will have us break even, any small excess will be donated to the World Kite Museum, if there is a larger number of registrations then the money will be applied toward a future, similar event for the fliers. If you would like to attend, please contact Wayne Dowler for payment info - there is a **deadline of March 15th**... Late registration (before March 31st) goes up to $30 for the day.PAYMENT INFO:Wayne: "I have a paypal account linked through my email - wodowler@gmail.com - please send any payment as "gift, friend or family" otherwise paypal takes a small amount out for fees."Hope to see you there!

What are "sissy sticks"? Heard them referred to in a video..[emoji41]
Wayne Dowler replied to Joe Eyman's topic in Quad Heads
Yes, the Shook's sell kits for them. Everything you need to install is included, even detailed plans on installing. It is pretty straight forward - introduce no bend to the existing kite frame. A bit harder to do when making your own from scratch, which many people chose. But the overall thought, is not to introduce any bending of the frame. The sticks should end up as a "neutral" add on. They do seem to be an East Coast flavor. At WSIKF in August, when folks from all parts of the US and world, get together, you'll mostly find them on kites from back East. Just seems to have caught on there. Like I said, it's a different feel type thing. Some love them, some don't, your choice. I use a set on my Zen for specific reasons - to limit the flex in my LE. Same with my SUL. Some like the kick stand effect. Some like the balance change, adding them creates. Several of the newer designs are using them built right in - Lam Hoac with his ABS and the 4WD from Europe, are several examples. -

I'm sure it's been done - but the only stack of indoor kites I ever saw was when Connor used a 2 stack on AGT! You going to use them/it inside or ?? -

Got 2 sets from the Shooks, come with easy instructions to install them. All the lines are color coded and instructions are straight forward. Use them on my Zen and SUL to limit the flex in the LE. Plus they make it impossible to "bowtie" the kite, the line between sticks just won't allow it. Don't have them on any of my others, frame changes take care of my needs there. Both the 2 light weight kites have them for reasons - I don't change frames on either! Nice thing is if you don't like them - also easy to remove! -
+++ for Dave! Bought a std "B" from him myself, and several friends also purchased from him with NO issues! Pretty hard to go wrong there!

Can't like ....RIP Rich!

Yada, Yada, Yada!!!

Not when I've been looking!!!

Joe - do you still have good feeling in them? Holding handles loosely is a good thing. Increases your touch with them. You don't want to "strangle" them, but hold them like you would a baby bird! Old saying on indoors - if you aren't losing a handle once in a while, you're probably holding them too tight!!
-
You are only dealing with 10' lines more or less, tangles should be a minor inconvenience at that length. Seeing the lines is secondary to seeing what the kite is doing. Don't throw the baby out in the bathwater! If you can, watch JB's tutorials - taught me almost everything I know about indoor flying! What your kite is doing is way more important than seeing the lines!! Believe me!!
