  1. Should I be quiet, should I yell? So far, all tactics have failed to impress the RNG! Is there a winning formula? Never know for sure!! RANDOM!!!
  2. Ending with a "kiss"? How mushy!!! lol! Hope you get to LC sooner rather than later!! CYA on the beach!!!
  3. Don't be kissing up!!! The RNG is just that - random!!!
  4. If I look right - aren't you one of the guys that came out to Portland awhile back? If that is an SUL, it sure wouldn't have survived the wind we had that day at Delta!! Does it have a light weight leading edge pocket and a bridle made from 90# flying line? If so - that's an SUL, if not, ??? I thought I recognized the other kite on the ground! Yeah, I'm on here too, as well as FB!!
  5. Doesn't hurt to ask either! None available - then buy new. If used are around, they can save you some cash!
  6. You want to get 2 sails if you can - a full sail (std) and a full vent. With the 2 you have the majority of wind conditions covered, can get matching sails if you want, and can get a midvent when you like! Buy one in a package to get handles and maybe lines, (not all come with them, so look close) and two frames. Then get the second as a "kite only" to get the frame you're missing and save yourself getting a duplicate of things you already have! The "B" is an awesome top of the line factory kite, uses multiple frames, and is very versatile! If money is an issue - look for good used kites, they can get you started at a fraction of the new cost!
  7. If I remember correctly - doesn't CJ live in Montana? Haven't heard from him in quite awhile, but Theresa might have his number!
  8. I found them too "bouncy" for my liking! Distorts the sail shape when given any type of hard command, by overly bending! Having the stiffer LE helps make the sail fill quicker and hold longer. I'm one of the few out here that already loved my Zen, we'll see if the sticks help or hurt!
  9. I'm going to "try" some sticks on my Zen! Flew with several of the East Coast gang at WSIKF, and decided since I usually fly my Zen solo anyway, that it would be a good choice to see how I like them! Got them as a kit from Flying Smiles (thanks Cath and Eliot), installed, now will test!! Couldn't go to a French bridle though, I didn't like that feel on the Zen. So I'll try sneaking up on that! (maybe) Keep looking for a report eventually!! PS: as a test of the sticks and other stuff - I weighed my hybrid frame against a Zen frame. Hybrid = 84 gr Zen = 96 gr! My hybrid consists of 2 wrap center, race wingtips, Zen verticals. I was surprised by the fact my hybrid was lighter! I do know it's stiffer!
  10. Nope - not me! Somebody else started using some type of "code" that ended up being binary that -- ??? I just added the binary equivalent of my number to my signature! As for "interpreting" this stuff - know eye deer!!! lol!
  11. Didn't we go through this in another giveaway??
  12. Sorry - more numbers than my old brain cares mess with!! Besides, it eats into my flying time!!
  13. Attitude!!! That's the ticket!! All the abuse given out on this topic is just one way of "letting it out"! I mean who else can we argue with?? Beg, plead, insult, etc. - whatever floats your boat!!!
  14. Was meant as a comparison. Golf has become "elite", not as easy to play for the "less than well off"! Kites can be expensive, but once bought last a long time! Example - I still have my first "real" Rev, a 1, from 1997 and still fly it!
  15. Better than no idea!!! Tired of kissing up to the RNG!! Number gets pulled - OK! Not - nothing lost!! No harm, no foul!
  16. I've tried silence I've tried sweet talk I've tried insults In short, most everything Got me nada!!! Excuse me while I bust it's chops!!!
  17. SHHHH! You're giving away the "secret" club benefits!!!! Nope, nothing to do but be a subscriber!! Easy, but beware the RNG (random number generator), it has a mind of it's own!!! Many a ship of dreams dashed on the rocks of hope by the (sometimes) cruel RNG! Good luck!
  18. As much brake as you can stand, but still launch!! My analogy is a car transmission - std or auto. All things equal - flat ground, car idling - you put an automatic in gear and eventually it starts to move on its own. With a std tranny what happens? Nothing! You have to "put it in gear"! Pretty much the theory of brakes on the kite - you have to give it commands to do something, not have it just go off by itself! The Rev selling point is control - how you gonna get that if the thing just shoots off on its own whenever a gust hits? All we are aiming for is a "neutral", a place that puts the kite in a "need to be told what to do" type attitude! Puts you in control!!
  19. Did you bring your right hand in towards your body some, to keep the top of the kite sail, up? You'll see a lot of us offsetting our hands, always keeping the wing that is on top, up there by bringing that hand in! Very seldom will you see anyone fly with both hands absolutely even! Light winds will make this even more apparent! A good learning wind speed is in the 5,6 - 10,12 mph zone! The kite flies easily in that range and you can concentrate on what you're doing and not on keeping the kite flying! Jason will help!!
  20. Just for clarification - I see too many get hung up on pure numbers - this is all about feel!! Just because the factory says "X", doesn't mean it is an absolute, just a guideline! All the numbers depend on a pilots skill and how things work in different conditions! That's why you see or hear about so many different setups for different people on the same kite sail! Everyone has their own unique setup that gives them a certain "feel" with their kites!! What works for me, may not for you, and vise versa. Is it wrong?? Nope, just how it works for you. As your tests showed, there is more flex in SS rods than Rev rods. But unless you can translate it into how they change your feel, they are just numbers on a page, not real life info for others to experiment with! I encourage you to try flying more often and translate those numbers into how you "feel" about them!!
  21. Pushed your hands too far forward??? Do you mean you tried to reverse the kite and let your thumbs go forward?? There is a wind window, did you fly outside of it? Not too clear on the exact issue - sorry. Hooking up with Jason will more than likely solve this problem!!
  22. Nice try!!! NOT!!!
  23. I just searched the members list and didn't find anyone by that name listed!! John - you sure that's the spelling??
  24. He may sell them, BUT they don't have a Revolution logo or (as far as I know) are licensed by them, as Polos, LHSK, or Shooks are! Please correct me if wrong!
