  1. I'm thinking that over 20 years ago exceeds the statute of limitations on that!!
  2. Congrats - may your journey begin!!
  3. OK PM - fess up! Is your plan to confuse, bewilder, mess with, the RNG? Or are you just messing with us, the people, and our minds??
  4. Sounds like time for more suspense!!! How long can I hold my breath??
  5. Last second attempt to sway that RNG - Let's see if that works!!!
  6. OK, I meant John!! Yes, I do sleep with 1 eye open sometimes, not by choice!! Leftovers from the stroke!!
  7. Maybe whisper sweet nothings in your ear, RNG?? Come to me!!
  8. Dang it ! That makes sense, perfect sense, and I see your point. Ok, I suppose I need to go to Amazon.com, and take another look. Hmm - Windtronic 2. Sheesh.............why did I bring this up? Oh, I didn't. I can blame this one on Michael I really like this comment made me laugh. I do think It is a great idea to see if John might be able to contact them. Who knows it might be next months drawing. I'd be willing to bet that he has almost never used a meter! Maybe someone in his group pulled one out, but I'd be very surprised if he's used one himself!
  9. Couldn't tell you - I just let my eyes tell me if what I have in there is correct!
  10. Considered one of the weaknesses of the original Rev 1 design!
  11. My wind meter is very simple - I tied a ribbon to my stake!! If it moves - wind and direction shown! If it doesn't - go sit and wait!! PS: If all you "gadget geeks" out there really want to lighten your pocket, donations can be sent to me!!! I'll fly a kite in your honor!!!
  12. Am I missing something?? Are we taking the banter to a whole other level? Keep this up and I'll need C3PO to translate this stuff!! Remember RNG - I'm the one trying to keep it simple!!
  13. Try putting on the glasses!!!! lol!
  14. Line strength is right on the package - 80# for 3-8 mph, 150# for 8-20 mph! Probably use something in the 80', 90', 100' length! Might want 2 sets for it - a shorter, lighter set and a longer, stronger set! That way you can fly in many wind conditions and adjust the lines to accommodate the day's conditions!
  15. I came with a wind meter - My neck!!! I was a sailor and can pretty much judge the winds in low to medium ranges! Still over guess when it's higher! I tend to watch my LE (I fly Revs mostly), if it bends too much - put in something stronger! No bend - go lighter!
  16. Not wanting to scare anyone off, but why do all of the "B"s, B-2s, even Rev1s come in vented models?? Wind range!!! Right tool for the right conditions! Not saying things are not possible, just saying there is a sensible limit to everything! Proper adjusting of equipment to conditions is part of the learning process, IMHO!! Just because you can put something up there doesn't mean it's right! I know, my opinion is biased, I have balance issues! But I also know that I still have my Rev1 from the late '90s, because I didn't abuse it! I look to put something vented on faster than most do, but that is MY personal preference!! Your mileage may vary!
  17. Just for sxxts and giggles - would you fly a standard 1.5 in those winds? Or be looking to go mid/fv ? If you're thinking about switching, leave the 1 in your bag!!
  18. Posted wind ranges are just that - suggested! I wouldn't even think of setting it up in wind over 10-15 mph!! Remember - it's almost 9' of LE you got there!! Especially with RR in it!! That size wing will load so fast, you could break something before you even get it airborne!! I only have 4 wraps because that's what came with it, along with - wait for it - 11" handles!! I fly it on 13" mostly now with either 90# or - wait - 50# lines!! It did come with 150#, still got them, only now in 2 sets!! Pretty good light wind setup!! That's why it was used as the Zen's basis, big wing!! Never have put the SLE tubes in it!!! RR and 3s sound like a good combo, just don't try it in big winds, it will stretch!!
  19. When I flew dualies, I never broke my LEs down, always left them together! Never had a problem with them!! If you have "O" rings for tensioners, you should release them, but don't have to break down unless you need to!
  20. Just really keep an eye on your LE, with that 9' wingspan, things bend a lot under load!! If you have any doubt - go stronger!!!
  21. I'd certainly keep an eye out on anything metal!! Not that the rubber washers don't rub, but metal is unforgiving on contact with the ground too!! You get any material pinched and a tear or rip occurs!!
  22. I've got the same kite marked 1997 in the Rev header, only different colors! 7 panel layout! My first "real" Rev, I've flown the crap out of it! Still in great shape almost 15 years later!! If I'm not mistaken, you can get 2, 3, 4, and Black Race rods for it easily and the new "Diamond Sticks" from Ben at Rev! I even think the SLE tubes are out there (looking for the Rev police)! I'm using a Black Race most of the time and still have my original 4 wrap as backup! Yes, it's slower, but just as precise, as any of the smaller models, and will quickly show you any mistakes in technique (bowtie, wing flip in a heartbeat), but a fun fly on a lazy afternoon! I pull mine out every now and then just to enjoy flying something different than my 1.5s!
  23. Sorry on the Wala line, mine was nice and smooth! I use it with my Frigate (Skate) and Mega! And that's only part of one winder's worth! I have 2 Walas and still haven't touched the second spool! But at Lincoln City recently, I used both tails from the Walas on my Rev!! Who'd guess that 3 years after getting my Walas, that I get Revs that match the colors almost perfectly!
  24. Well I checked, and sure enough it is a cored line!! I'm guessing it's someones brand of bridle line, looks a lot like the stuff I use as sleeving for my Rev lines!! LPG? Myself, I'm not keen on using an old flying line from my Revs, too "cutty" for me!! Allow it to slide through your fingers and OOPS, especially in knuckle joints! I really like that heavier line when the sail allows, much easier to handle for an "old fart" like me!! Still need gloves for the backing line I use outdoors, let it slide, you get burned by friction!! OUCH!!
