I had the offer out there to trade my Zen for a vent for about a year... no one bit. Well, someone talked me into selling the Zen for cash, and that's how I'll fund the vent, at least partially. Not to muddy the waters but have you considered a PoloVTD? Or dare I say, a Shook? My PoloVTD flew lower than I expected but more easily on its back. I've taken it past 40mph with just the 3 frame. However, the purchase and build wasn't without incident. Shook, expensive but huge wind range. Well I'm sure you know the virtues... Anything designed by Dodd Gross will be a great bird. A 6 foot wing will require a little more wind and a little less input but you are on your way. Never flown a Freebird but I do have a Skydog Jammin' and can definitely vouch for build quality and hardware. Kite is still capable of more than I. Keeping costs as low as possible is a hard thing to quantify without a number. Here in Oz the Freebird is 1/2 the cost of the Jammin' so I can only assume that this is true everywhere. The opinions you were given were sound and based on a great deal of experience. We have all been hungry for that first step and what kite to get. You won't find any kite pushers here, just enablers. 15's will make your inputs more pronounced. They're a bit longer so the tips will move a bit more (on an arc) for any given rotation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We, WestAstralian and I used the same train lines from a 1.5. They are 4.5feet. Make up some pigtail loops for you train line connection points. Makes it heaps easier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love this thread, great stories. My first kite was a homemade diamond. Made from newspaper, suitable twigs, sticky tape and knitting wool. Man I used to run around with those till something broke. My wife bought the good ol' occy that was at the start of this journey. The first kite I bought was my Rev EXP. Bit of a jump but I slid right down the rabbit hole. A friend of mine has a 25 train of diamonds and he has short tails either side of the kite with link lines between them. That way you can dynamically change number in train. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
