  1. I usually fly Revs and SLK,s on Dunstable Downs, that's on the other side of the pond, and it is a very popular place with family's for kite flying. Every time I and others are flying we tend to notice a Mother, Father or Grandparents with their children struggling to fly their new kite. If it is a small diamond then usually it is the centre cross inverted, if it is a small delta or foil then they are usually trying to fly with very short lines and flailing all over the place. A few minutes spent with them, setting up, frequently letting out and equalising lines, gets them flying. What makes it worth it is seeing the smiles on the kids faces as their kite soars into the air and that means they will be back for more sooner than later ! Bill
  2. Hi Nick, Tie an overhand knot along the stitched length of the longest line and remeasure, with luck that should reduce the split to a minimum ! With lightweight sleeved lines such as used on Revs a single overhand knot reduces the length by about 1 cm. Try it, if it does not work simply untie ! Bill
  3. A bridle change is carried out exactly the same as on a Rev 1.5, only the lengths are different ! Here is a link to some images I put on the Rev Forum earlier this year plus a pdf of Rev 1 dimensions. http://www.revkites.com/forum/topic/6173-bridle-images/ I hope it proves useful ! Bill REV 1 BRIDLE LENGTH ONE.pdf
  4. Because one day you will see the LIGHT !
  5. YEAH ! nice STACK must be a bit windy with that amount of venting though !
  6. If you cannot find one try an alternative ! Get a used SLE, EXP or B fullsail and with a few tools you can design a vented that would be unique ! A couple of years ago I purchased a pair of locally made custom sails for about £60.00 ( $100) that needed finishing but were made of a heavy ripstop. One was made into a "Teabag" (purple/yellow) the other ( black/purple/white) I kept as a full sail but never really used it. So recently I modified it to a super vent, its surprising what can be done with a soldering iron, a straight edge on a flat board. I flew this a couple of weeks ago, just to see if it would, in what I would normally fly my Mid-vent and it flew OK well almost! All I want now is some real wind to push it ! Bill
  7. The top of the handles don,t snag, it is always the bottom so just do that end As for trimming the length, No point in doing that, they are your handles that you fly with so I doubt if any change in length would be noticeable ! I have never trimmed any of mine. If somebody else uses your set up they will notice a change in feel because every kite has slight differences and if they can,t live with that it,s not your problem ! By the way, I fly with " Stone in shoe Bob " Bill
  8. It,s OK if you have thumbs as long as rods but not when you have stumpies like a lot of us ! Bill
  9. You WAS Double dare you !!! Home-made sail with EXP rods and I know the image is upside down, zoom into the centre ! Bill
  10. Hi Captainbob Remember that you could have just tied an extra knot or two on the sleeving for the long line, one knot at either end of that line would have taken out about ¾ inch, sorted ! Or you could have come back a knot or two on your top leaders, if they were fitted that is ! Bill
  11. I have put a new post on the Rev Forum under "Set Up/Assembly" entitled " Bridle Images" I hope that helps ! Bill
  12. I have this problem on this Forum and the Rev Forum but I put it down to the settings on my new computer using windows 8.1 and I am not computer tech enough to try to sort it out ! The image is what I get displayed after a short while then the only way out is to quit the site altogether! The other functions on these sites are all OK Bill Do not agitate the nerds when you at school ! One day you will probably be working for one !
  13. Hi John, I can view the " line bending" video but not this one "dusk play" here in the UK ! Screen shot attached. Bill AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND

  15. Hi All, You asked for a report so here it is:- First flights today 14th June at Dunstable Downs. Wind, well it was enough to fly my Vented Rev at the same time! Easy to set up and launch. Pretty stable at all times with either tail configuration. All I want now is a calm day ! Bill

  18. Hi All, Just arrived home from a good day flying Revs at the Peterborough Kite Festival ( UK that is ) but I did buy a Blue Wala ! Anybody got any good tips for flying these would be helpful for this old fellow ? Bill
  19. Hi John, Full vent with 2 wrap and 3 wrap ! What happened to 3 and 4 wrap frames ? Has anyone from the UK ever won anything ? Bill
  20. Hi Ian, To get you started the "Midlands Kite Fliers" has a good forum, http://www.mkf.org.uk/ I myself only joined recently and have yet to go through all of the forum but it does cover all types of kites ! A Google search should find UK dealers but the one I tend to use is http://www.kiteworld.co.uk/index.html but a lot depends on what you want to purchase as dealers stock dirrering types of kites. What do you fly and when you are in the UK where do you fly ? I fly Revs usually on Dunstable Downs ! Bill
