I don’t get to the beach very often but when I do i want every hour I can and it always pays off. This time it’s the monkey bars maneuver. After years of wanting to get this move, it finally clicked. Anyways here is the last 10 minutes of me enjoying a heavenly breeze on a beautiful morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Welcome to the forum sir. As Riff says above if you’re able, make a trip to fly with others before you invest in a new kite. Although I got a lot of hours out of my first kite and it served its purpose well, I don’t even put it in my bag anymore. I flew alone for the first 5 months and that kite took a hell of a beating. However as soon as I started to meet up with experienced flyers I quickly realized that I need something of better quality. The biggest factor of meeting up with folks is the learning curve. I learned more about all things pertaining to flying a quad in that first day with the kite club than I had learned on my own in 5-6 months. Hand /wrist movements. Handle settings. Line management. Sail loading. Feet/leg positioning. Things to practice. Just a few things that experienced flyers told me about that I had not ever thought of. That knowledge and being able to try their kites is priceless. Best of luck and Keep in touch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don’t use sleeving. I color the ends of the loops I make with a bit of red marker to indicate the right lines and inch of black marker for the bottom lines. R for red and right. B for black and bottom. Also add a small loop on the ends to make it easier to undo the larks head knot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve only ever used iMovie to edit videos. In the last few years mostly on the iPhone. It’s small but very simple and user friendly. Plus I can easily transfer GoPro footage from the se card directly into my photos app Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks Tiwi. I’m using the DJI Spark for the aerial shots and a GoPro Sessions mounted on my chest for the ground shots, both in 1080p. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Between hard ground in the winter and leaving behind many stakes on the field I decided to get magic sticks for the rest of my kites. I used them on my first rev and should’ve done it for the rest of them all along. The ability to just drop the handles and leave the kite with no worries is well worth it for me. In this particular post no. I’ve always loved how direct sunlight or the lack there of affects the colors. Even on sunny days when big puffy clouds roll over the flying field it can look one way and change as I glide across the field in and out of the clouds shadow. Even the black panels can look almost deep blueish (is that a color) with the right light. However, with wind range, I tend to pull this out as soon as my Polo UL starts making noises and with a bit of tweaking at the leaders the more vented kites don’t come out till it starts to really pull. so yes a 2fer in both instances. A bit late(only 2 yrs[emoji12]) but once Polo went solo I did get myself a UL and I never shared a pic of my custom job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The title of your post says it all. DONT GIVE UP!! Ive been flying for 5 yrs and there are many tricks/maneuvers that I still can’t get. Want to talk basics? How many times did I unwind my lines and walk back and forth from handles to kite and back to handles to undo twists and pull them apart to get clean lines? Hundreds. I’d sometimes waste 15/20 min doing that,I hated it but no matter what, I always thought of it as a learning experience. Now, takes me less than 2 minutes, 1 walk to the kite , pull and separate lines and BOOM, clean untwisted lines on the first shot every time. I know it’s not a trick but that simple task was very challenging for me and it taught me one thing. DONT GIVE UP!! How often do I fly? Not as often as I’d like. How many hours do I have on the lines? No way in hell I could ever calculate that. How long did it take me to learn the first trick I really wanted to do? No clue. I just kept at it until one day it just happened. Did I get frustrated? You bet! For the longest time I’ve been trying to perfect 3 maneuvers in particular and personally I just can’t practice one thing for 15 minutes straight, I enjoy “flying all over the place” too much. So during my sessions I just thrown in some of those maneuvers here and there knowing full well that one day it’ll click. The muscle memory comes from repetition so I just keep at it. I’m in no hurry, I just know when I fly everything else in my head disappears so I just go out there and have fun. Last thing. I’ve learned more from flying with others or just watching them for 2 hours than I have from 20 hours alone. If you can, find others to fly with, hammer them with questions and just watch them. DONT GIVE UP AND HAVE A BLAST. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I do love to share my videos but the main reason I film is for self evaluation. First thing I noticed is my hands. Other than when doing a upside down hover they’re pretty close to each other. That’s something I always have in the back of my mind as I fly. I guess that has stuck. Next are the two maneuvers I’ve been working on for a long time now. Traveling bicycle still needs work. I get 2/3 rotations than I lose the feeling and it stops traveling or it starts to head downward. THe other maneuver I can’t seem it be consistent with I don’t know the name[emoji23][emoji23]. Picture the kite hovering facing right. The tip of the top wing goes down in reverse until it ends on the bottom while the bottom tip stays stationary and the kite ends in a left facing hover. I guess it’s like going up or down a ladder but in reverse with sharp stops at each quarter or half turn. Anyway thanks for watching. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

At some point on Sunday as I’m looking at the line of familiar kites resting, I notice a newbie within the group and think, cool someone’s got a new toy. So of course I pick it up and play with it for a little while. Two things right off the bat, light as a feather and super responsive. That’s as technical as I can get. Thoroughly enjoyed it in my hands and it looks fantastic against the sun. Thanks Riff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
